It's funny to watch a mate who's used to only drinking Guinness and Carlsberg try a Leann Follain.

Worked really well but I will try it at room temp next time I think.

Just below room temperature is what you should aim for with most beers.

During the week I was drinking partizan and the kernel beers. All free too. All amazing.

    I was in the Swagman.

They are making a real effort - music, food, Irish and foreign beers

Sierra Nevada PA and Goose Island, both available in 35cl bottles.

They have a rotating guest tap. They have hadSierra Nevada Torpedo extra IPA, and last week I had Thornbridge Raven

This time they have Sierra Nevada PA on draught, 5.50 per pint, lovely stuff.

Better than the Green Bullet pint I had next, which was cheaper at 4.00.

I also had a SN Bigfoot barley wine, strong stuff.

They have a keg of SN Hoptimum coming on soon.

I forgot just how good Fuller's London Porter is. I remembered it to be really good, but it's a little better than that, isn't it?!

My latest challenge is planning out some dinners and looking for a beer to go with it.

Decided to try dungarvan copper coast red ale to replace a red wine with steak on Friday.

Worked really well but I will try it at room temp next time I think.

Tweeted the brewer and he suggested frying up the onion with it next time. Genius!

Last night tried Fursty Ferret with a rasher, black pudding and melted chees sambo. Nutty flavour was spot in with it

The Purty Kitchen in Monkstown suggest beers to go along with their food menu

Started with A Widmer Bros Nelson Imperial IPA. No need to repeat my love for that, so next up is Sierra Nevada Beer Camp #93 IPA. Bitter at first, then smooth between tastes. It's a tasty little IPA. Nothing crazy good.

Having a Brewdog Santa Paws this evening with dinner.

Yesterday I was pleasantly surprised to find that the Gingerman now serves Franciscan Well's Purgatory IPA. I had already drunk a pint of Writer's Red but then swapped over to Purgatory for the rest of the afternoon before heading to the rugby.
Gotta say I really liked the IPA, very American.
After that it all went downhill and I was drinking Guinness for the rest of the evening.
I made up for it though by having a Founders All Day IPA when I got home.

EDIT: the Santa Paws is sh1te.

that would be a very uncomfortably warm room

Not at all. 21C is a widely used figure for office or room temperatures.
I would think it's too warm for a bedroom but for a living room, it's pretty much spot on.

    Beautiful beer.

Where did you get it in Cork?

(I'm guesing you were in the big schmoke this weekend).

Sierra Nevada Beer Camp #94 Belgian Style Black IPA. Bit of a mouth full style wise but luckily enough it's not that muddled taste wise. It's actually really nice. If I was blind tasting it I'd probably call it a Porter that's mild late hopped.

    The brown ale is, blah.
Had one last week and feel like I wasted the price of a pint when they have so much good stuff on tap.

Love it when Seaneh comes on here to tell other people whether the drink they just had was any good or not.

I had the imperial brown ale myself at the weekend and thought it was quite nice. Apparently I was wrong about that. :(

Do I need to put a disclaimer at the bottom of every post to say that my posts are my personal views and others are free to disagree with them?

Or are you just going to pull your knickers out of your arse and cop on?

Oh I didn't think it was terrible, I just feel it was a bad choice compared to stuff they had on at the time. I could have had a London Porter on cask.

    :(

I think we're about to get our second warning in the beer thread in the space of a month. That's kind of exciting.
