I got a bottle each of Leann Follain Whiskey Aged Stout and Franciscan Well Jameson Stout for Christmas. Such things of beauty, and such big bottles.

What's the best way to drink these? Are they two pint bottles?

Trying a bottle of Galway Bay red ale with dinner.
Not too bad but not as nice as other Irish reds. Quite a mild taste.

They are both different sizes. The LeAnn Follain in 750ml and the Jameson stout is 1 litre.

I'd drink them from something line a red wine glass at about 15c. Not cold but you dont them warm either.

I wouldn't drink them both in the same sitting though, you'd be hammered.

Quite liked the winter star myself, though I like spiced ale

I almost feel like I've wasted a post even mentioning it! Thankfully I've a few better beers awaiting me.

I don't rate any of the Galway bay stuff, bar the buried at sea, which is delicious.

I had one of their NZ hopped IPAs at the beer festival in the RDS and really enjoyed it. I must have been well on my way at that stage because I had it in the Black Sheep a few weeks earlier and wasn't as impressed.
They have a long way to go to match the likes of Carlow Brewing.
I tried Buried at Sea but I'm in a seriously hoppy phase at the moment so didn't enjoy it as much as I possibly should have.

Anyway, either time for an All Day IPA or a Hurricane IPA.
    Decisions decisions.

The Fear - Imperial Pumpkin Ale by Flying Dog.

Smells like Christmas Cake, tastes like the spices that go into Christmas Cake. Probably not quite as bad as it sounds, but that said, I think Pumpkin Ale is just not a style that I'm fond of. Might give the style a miss next year.

About to have my 3rd Foam and Fury.

Lads, its peerless as an Irish craft beer. Could easily be held up against a west coast America IPA.

Blows every other Irish pale I've had out of the water.

No offence Seaneh, but you lauding a Galway Bay beer is like listening to a parent at an under 7's match telling everybody that his kid is gonna be the next Ronaldo! :p;)

A big bottle of La Trappe Quadrupel and "The Damned United" on DVD. Not a bad Friday night in!

I nearly agree. I tried the full sail recently and it is better and quite nice. Now the foam and fury is pretty awesome i have to meet. I know seaneh is a bit boy who cried wolf now but he isnt exaggerating in this case.

How much is a pint? Was hoping to get into the Brew Dock on the way home from the match in the Aviva but had a train to catch :(

I was genuinely surprised at how good it was.
To be honest I was expecting it to be something like a bigger version of Voyager, which I hated and thought was just overly bitter and not much else going on, but it's bloody epic.

Had a couple of form and fury tonight. It really is fantastic and I hope Galway Bay keep it up as a regular beer

It's been added to their core range, will be in bottles on offlicence shelves by the middle of January.

Knew they were planing on bottling but thought it was still just a seasonal

Nope, as far as I know, it's a keeper.

Sure who in their right mind would make a beer that good and then not sell it?

I saw the banana bread and half thought of buying it :)

This world of craft beer is fun :)

Great tastes, and not a massive amount of alcohol if you take it easy

My latest challenge is planning out some dinners and looking for a beer to go with it.

Decided to try dungarvan copper coast red ale to replace a red wine with steak on Friday.

Worked really well but I will try it at room temp next time I think.

Tweeted the brewer and he suggested frying up the onion with it next time. Genius!

Last night tried Fursty Ferret with a rasher, black pudding and melted chees sambo. Nutty flavour was spot in with it
