Bit of a strange on,was using a HD box for fta in the bedroom along with a UK card to get the English EPG. Ended up using the card elsewhere and the box was left plugged out due to renovations.Hooked it all back up the other night minus any card & still have the UK EPG.
That is strange. I think the boxes are UK epg by default. I wonder did some backup battery/capacitor go completely flat and it defaulted to the UK epg. Try your irish card in it and see do you get the card trick... Is the present UK epg the same region as the card that was in it before it was powered down?

Are you sure? I am doing the card-trick and UTVHD only appeared on the epg when I added it to my favourites and re-booted.

I also have all the c4's, bbc ni etc in other channels and they don't appear on the epg, i.e. on 101, 102 etc. unless I add them to favourites?
Its other channels not favorites you wont get BBC on 101 ect but you can add c4 and c5 itvs

Don't want to chance putting an Irish card into it just in case I get stuck with the Irish EPG again,it's just used for fta.The box was sitting on a shelf for about a month.I'll check the EPG later & see what region it is.

I might be wrong but I thought the older Sky boxes showed the Uk EPG with no card inserted. It was only when you inserted your Irish sub card that the EPG changed to the Irish one. Removing the card changed the Epg back to the UK one. I had an old grey Pace sd box and that's the way it was with it.

I don't think its that way with the newer HD boxes. When the installer turned on my box it was on the UK epg but he quickly did what I now recognise as a forced software update. My father has a HD box that is plugged into the mains and the dish that he never uses. I might try disconnecting it completely for a month and see what happens.

Yes most definitely UTV HD is not stored in my favourites on 2 boxes and it appears on the EPG. You should also have UTV on 103 ,CH4 on 104 and CH5 on 105 if the card trick is working properly using a NI card.

Ya the newer ones default to the Irish epg all right. A lot of people use the UK cards if they are using them as second boxes to change the epg to the UK one.

I don't have ch4 in 104. What's the frequency for the ni version please? If you tune in bbc1&2 london they appear on 954 and 969. Itv is on 973.

If you try 10714 H 22000 5/6 it gives you 6 channel 4s in the results so if you add them all to other channels it should appear on 104 after redoing the card trick.

It worked a treat:D There's also a CH4 in 974 beside ITV I think it might be the UK version.

There's no 'UK' version of Channel 4.

There are six advertising regions covering the UK, one of those is the NI version you've merged with your RoI EPG.

If, according to your post, there's a NI version, then there's a UK version. I thought someone posted at the beginning of this thread that there were programming differences between the NI and the UK channel 4's.

Northern Ireland is part of the UK.

There is no standalone UK version of Channel 4.

There are six separate Channel 4s which cover different advertising regions.

One of them is your NI region.

(FYI the other 5 are for Scotland; England North; England South & East; England Midlands & London)

I think you may be confusing the UK with Great Britain.

I think you're being a pedantic smart arse tbh. I'm using my phone now so it isn't easy to scroll back through the posts but I'm almost certain someone said on this thread that sometimes there were rare programming differences on ch4. Particularly if the programme content could cause tension in certain regions. I'm sure you'll be along to correct me if I'm wrong.

How in the name of f*** am I being a "pedantic smart-arse"?

Do you mean for pointing out your geography mistake?

There is not a standalone-UK version of Channel 4.

There is not a standalone-British version of Channel 4.

Whatever part of the world you were referring to, if you believe it is pedantry to point out to you that a channel you believe exists doesn't exist then what's the point in you engaging in discussion? Particularly when you become childish in doing so?

I've gone to the trouble of even pointing out to you the different regions that do exist.

Sorry for being of assistance

And for fear of being called a pedantic smart person I'll let Channel 4 themselves correct you.
Channel 4 does not have any regional programming differences like the BBC or ITV. The only regional differences we have is our advertising. Channel 4 plays to six regions, London, South of England, Midlands, North of England, Ulster and Scotland. Our Advertising Sales department sells each region separately and we run a different set of ads to each of the regions simultaneously.

Not sure of the point you are trying to make here but (just to be 100% pedantic) Great Britain is part of the UK ;)

I'm well aware of that mate but I won't call you a pedantic smartie for trying to be helpful ;)

Taking something out of context can cause confusion and if you'd read the post I quoted you'd see the point I was making. It wasn't me that was confusing the two geographical terms,

Great Britain may be part of the UK but the UK does not equal Great Britain - in case you're still unsure.

New firmware version R008.063.49.08P now being rolled out and also available on the DR stream something to do with the new search feature. I can also confirm that the card trick still works with this version.

Is that to do with the new "search" feature?

If its a NI region card it will still work and give you the full card trick on the EPG but if its a different region it will still let you record via the blue button trick.

    Its ni

Page one still applies but if the card has not been used in ages it will need to be left in your box overnight or for a couple of days to bring it back to life.
