thank god you are not a judge!

It was pre-meditated murder in pre-apocalypse terms!! she decided to kill 2 people, then did it.

Anyway, Rick knows how Tyrese would react if/when he finds out she did it, so it's better she's on her own for now. She'll be seen again no doubt about it but is no loss to the group. There is no point having a council if one person arbitrarily does her own thing.

hahaha - yeah, it was murder in pre apocalypse terms I suppose. I should have said post apocalypse there.

As I said, I dont agree with it, but given some of the decisions Rick has already made (like killing Shane or letting Merle stay as an example), I think it is very cheeky of him to be banishing her.

Personally if I was Carol I would have said they were already dead but hadnt turned or one was dead and turned eating the other or something rather than admit it. But she felt she acted the best way she could, thats why she admitted it.

Its a horrible world though, I thought showing them randomly going through the contents of peoples homes looking for medicine and some of it being out of date etc was harrowing.

She is a huge loss to the group right now.

Wow, that was actually a good episode! The first of the season so far!

That was the best episode of the whole season. I'm shocked how good it was, if only the rest of it was to this calibre!

I knew straight away at the intro this was a director with talent. This is how intros should be done each episode! Proper script too. The shots, cinematography and dialogue were superb. Finally they discussed the past! The whole episode was like a one off little story, which, IMO, is how each episode should be, instead of some continuous, weak story over-arcs and poor dialogue.

Really enjoyed it, this is how it should be done each week :)

Wow im surprised so many people seemed to like this episode. To me it was boring, far too slow and nothing significant actually happened. Wheres the plot going? Hanging around the prison forever with occasional runs for food and medicine? They have stopped dead in terms of plot progression. I understand that the long term characters need to change evolve and develop (and the Carol story wasnt actually bad) but the crucial story arcs present in seasons 1-3 have now fallen by the wayside and it seems like they are making it up now as they go along with this protracted virus story.

Are there other survivors abroad, what about the radio signal, is there any hope of a cure? This is the direction the characters should be going in, not an endless roundabout of new characters and dawdling along talking about their feelings. I have a very strong feeling this show will just be milked to death, what a shame.

I thought it was a pretty good episode. Maybe it didn't hold up to the last few but they were great.

It will be interesting to see what happens with Daryl (Although they seem to be setting him and Michone up together)
a change from the comics apparently. Apparently she hooks up with Tyrese but I can see them changing that unless it's essential. I could see people with too much time on their hands reading into "Oh all the black characters together and all the whites together" sh*te

I would be VERY surprised if this is the last we see of Carol though. She'll either turn up in this series again (Maybe Rick tells everyone she's dead and she turns up again, leaving him with some explaining to do) or she could turn up in this spin-off that's coming out next year. A bit of continuity between the series. Either way, there's a reason she wasn't killed off altogether.

Conflict between Daryl and Rick, I'm assuming. Daryl won't be happy about it when he finds out.

The show is moving at quite a fast past IMO
I think it would have been better if the first episode had explained more about the setup prison and past six months
There are 16 * 40 minute episodes in this season we are 4 in and already loads has happened,
    We started with 45 people
12-15 where killed in Patrick's attack
    Zack died
Carol killed two more people and has been banished
Half the remaining are dying of some Virus
The other half appear to be suffering to varying degrees of serious mental health issues and there is a traitor in the camp.
There's is now 26-29 people left It could not move much faster
Most of whom are either dying or not right in head.

Also Re prison Arc speculation ending
Also if you read the comics and look at names of characters to be introduced and if you read the taglines for next four episodes the Prison Arc
will be ending at some point in near future I guess

"All Contact has been lost with civilization home and aboard, there is no known cure, It is an extinction event."
    Dr Jenning CDC TS-19
I am sure they will investigate the radio signal after the flu pandemic has been dealt with if they have time and energy and people left, A radio signal can be generated by a suitcase sized transmitter and a car battery. It could be something or nothing like that chopper Rick saw in pilot.

If they do get around to investigating the radio signal I hope they don't throw caution to the wind. It could be another group like in 28 days later who want to lure them in and use them for their own benefit.

Have we watched the same show? Merle and Shane were very different situations altogether......Carol got better than she deserved

    What makes you say that?

Obviously they were all different situations, but the fact remains that Rick has made morally questionable decisions yet remains as the leader of the group, but when Carol makes a morally questionable decision - she is banished, by Rick. Not only that, but in the case of Merle, Rick let him stay in the group even though he had done many nasty deeds (and not with good intentions) yet he banishes Carol - how is that fair or consistent of Rick? It simply isnt.

Rick has blatantly absolved himself of any leadership or responsibility for the group, as evidenced by his taking up farming while the council met regularly to discuss group issues.

The only decisions he's had to make lately have been forced on him - Carl went to him about Carol's lessons with the kids, and Tyreese asked him, as a former cop, to figure out the double murder. The way he dealt with Carol was the fairest way to deal with the situation he found himself in. He knew Tyreese would never forgive her, and on top of that he no longer trusted her himself.

Rick was basically put in place as leader by the group, no one ever seemed to argue about his position and they don't seem to mind him making the tough decisions because I suppose it takes the pressure off themselves. Rick has done questionable things but was more or less forced into doing most of them, where as Carol murdered two innocent people in cold blood.

As far as i recall (correct me if im wrong) Merle didn't murder anyone in the group. He was nasty, racist and a loose cannon, but he never took it to where Carol took it and he also had Daryl on his side which helped.

What Rick did to Carol was harsh and it will surely have repercussions depending on how he spins it, he could say she was killed by walkers but that'll come back to bite him and if he tells the truth Tyrese and Daryl will both be pissed.

I personally think Rick should of said nothing as it was never going to come out, Carol wasn't an immediate threat by any means and this act could seriously divide the group. He's rightly shot himself in the foot this time I feel.

Can you tell me what two people Merle killed after living with them for seven months.....I cant think of Merle doing that to anyone.....Merle always gets bashed for no reason really......He was also permitted to stay as Daryl was part of the deal...also as Hershel mentioned Merle is valuble from a military perspective remember that? Good intentions dont excuse executing two people for absolutely no reason

Sure, I'll tell you what two people Merle killed when you show me where I ever stated that Merle killed two people

Merle set a zombie loose on tied up Glenn, yeah, he was real cuddly.

Carol killed two people but according to her, they were drowning in their own blood AND there was a risk they would infect the rest. I'm not saying she did the right thing, but she did not have a bad motive. If you can't see that and you'd prefer cuddly Merle in the group over Carol then let me know your apocalypse plan and I'll stay well clear.

I'm simply pointing out the inconsistency and the hypocrisy in Ricks decision to banish her.

But you did say he got bashed for no reason.

Although, if the truth be known, I did like Merle.

Lastly, I'd have thought that a zombie apocalypse would be a good cure for raging alcoholism - you either succumb to it early or get cured of it, but I didn't think you could have many high-functioning alco's in the Walking Dead universe!

It's the way they walk when they're drunk...it fools the zombies.

Rick has committed cold blooded murder himself so he has no business judging the actions of others.

Which of Rick's killings were cold-blooded murders?

There is one other person from TWD who killed someone needlessly - Carl.

Gotta agree with this. They've gotten it spot on every episode so far. Pacing is great and the character development is highly commendable..
Character development is woeful so far, we have no idea how they developed most seem like new characters who randomly revert to their old personalities due to horrendous writing.

Shane practically admitted he was going to murder him, Rick gave him every chance, Shane was about to shoot him in the back.

Actually Shane murdered that prisoner they had. Forgot about that.

Dont know why I even watch it anymore, a disjointed disorganised group that couldnt hit a stationary target, wildly let loose with ammunition when they could easily dispatch zombies with a bit more gore, Rick has always annoyed me but its getting worse, and people sleeping in open cells, keeping pigs? and walking up to the fence antagonising the poor zombies, instead of skewering them.
Now I read they get rid of someone that dispatches the nearly dead.
Im beginning to think the Governor was right :)

Just want to see what happened the horde of zombies at the end of episode 3

It will be repeated this Friday at 1 in the morning or I should say Saturday morning, on FX, then episode 5 will be on straight after!

Rick talked him down, told him they could get past it, got Shane to lower his gun and then knifed him. In pre-apocalypse times, that would be murder, not self defense. Rick did the exact same thing as Carol - he got rid of what he perceived as a (very real) threat.

If anything Rick murdering Shane was more selfish than Carols actions. Shane wasn't a threat to the group, just to Rick.

I mean, where is this story GOING, whats the plot arc this season? There is only so many scenes of people making their way through dark schools/supermarkets/forests etc before you just stop caring and the suspense is gone. The first and second seasons were all about the fallout from the virus and how it changes ordinary people, with lots of cliffhangers and plot twists- the third season was mostly about Woodbury vs the Prison and life in the prison. But how long can this season go without running completely out of steam. In theory, they could set the show in the prison for another 10 yrs and the show would be about people going on runs for food and equipment but that would be painfully boring. I am waiting to see the entire picture here- the voice on the radio, how long before thats explained? Is there a team working on trying to reverse this virus, are people in Europe affected etc etc?

We need to be heading towards a definite end point at this stage because the show is starting to stagnate very badly with repetitive plots of scouring supermarkets, soul searching and long protracted scenes that go nowhere. The plot is as important as character development and the plot so far this season has gone nowhere..

That big horde of Zombies we saw in episode 3, thats what this season is all about. Its slowly making its way to the prison, and its going to force our cast out as the fences wont be able stop a force like that. Its going to happen around episode 8. Calling it.

I hope that's not the case, because it has been done already; both season 1 and 2 culminated in a mass horde forcing the main group to disperse & I'd like to believe the zombie apocalypse has a few more plot variations available than 'massive horde ruins everything'.

Honestly, I think what we saw was a plot-horde anyway, something to make our heroes abandon their car and get stuck, I don't think it'll have any real baring on the eventual story. Besides, presumably the Governor is the real Joker in this pack; I presume he'll turn up at some point just when things seem to be picking up again, only to create more mayhem...
