I hope that's not the case, because it has been done already; both season 1 and 2 culminated in a mass horde forcing the main group to disperse & I'd like to believe the zombie apocalypse has a few more plot variations available than 'massive horde ruins everything'.

Honestly, I think what we saw was a plot-horde anyway, something to make our heroes abandon their car and get stuck, I don't think it'll have any real baring on the eventual story. Besides, presumably the Governor is the real Joker in this pack; I presume he'll turn up at some point just when things seem to be picking up again, only to create more mayhem...

I cant see enything else moving them outta there any time soon, and they gotta go, cant stay there forever. Zombies care not for your hopes!
They will run into the the Governor again, but only for one episode as he is killed straight away by........ Nagan!

    When he murdered Shane.

Since when did self-defence count as murder?

    I already covered this.

Rick talked him down, told him they could get past it, got Shane to lower his gun and then knifed him. In pre-apocalypse times, that would be murder, not self defense. Rick did the exact same thing as Carol - he got rid of what he perceived as a (very real) threat.

That big horde of Zombies we saw in episode 3, thats what this season is all about. Its slowly making its way to the prison, and its going to force our cast out as the fences wont be able stop a force like that. Its going to happen around episode 8. Calling it.

Saw the 4th episode last night,
Sure they could just retreat to the walled sections of the prison, how is that any worse than being in the open with a large horde? there must be some part of the prison that isnt accessible to the horde? as it never looks like the group can easily cover the perimeter, fix the hole in the wall, close off that section, block the footbridge, fence and cordon off access roads from further away.
They seem to be happy to let the walkers, walk up to the fence. I think the way its written, we are meant to be confounded by their stupidity, I am. The acting is pretty wooden, I just tune in to see zombies get their heads lopped off now as it really just seems to be going nowhere.

and as someone else mentioned, Carl,
is Rick going to drive him off and abandon him too

Shane was not a good guy but that's not the point. Rick killed him because he perceived him as a threat. He didn't consult the group before killing Shane. He didn't go back to the group and tell them he had killed Shane and explain his reasons why.

I don't agree with what Carol did but Rick's holier than thou attitude towards her is hypocritical. His own son killed a young lad needlessly and shows a desire to kill again yet we don't see Rick doing much about that. In the long run, Carl will be a greater threat as a loose cannon among the group than Carol would be.

Which reminds me, it's Monday so I much go watch the new episode!
