If you find a fish swimming around your case it's probably a bad sign.

Haha, my case actually arrived safe and sound today strangely enough

Has anyone any suggestions as to what the flip is going on with BF4 on my computer. BF3 runs at ultra settings perfectly. BF4 is running like crap, even if I run it at 1024x768 all low, I keep getting FPS spikes which make the game unplayable. I can run it at ultra and FRAPS records the game as having a good minimum framerate, but when I'm playing it, it's just so choppy in parts I can't play. I've tried running my GTX590 with sli disabled, doesn't help.

Really annoyed because I just can't play the game at the moment.

I have the same problem with Diablo 3, running 120-150 fps, turning vsync on doesn't help either, ends up screen tearing anyway.. choppy as hell. Feels like fps dips below 25, but it's not.
I was reading it's a driver issue, but updating didn't solve it .. maybe it will for you tho. Try out some beta driver instead of "stable" release.

Record your framertimes with Fraps and then use a programme to graph it. I forget what the programme is called but it will take the text file and graph the results, it's really quite handy. What you want is most of your frames to be rendered under ~20ms (16.7ms average across one second would equal a smooth 60FPS). Sounds like you're getting spikes in the 100s of ms.

I think it has to be the CPU, there's one map in BF4, no idea what it's called, like a coast area with a hotel? Anyway, with the GTX590, the FPS is the same on low and ultra settings at one point in that map - 22 frames a second. I knew the Fx6300 was a weak enough CPU but...not that weak. Not sure what to think, because I can't find anyone else with a similar problem.

It's a long shot but try turning off 2 of the cores. One of the lads had a problem in the beta with the same processor and turning off 2 of the cores fixed his problem.

Going to wait till I buy a new rig next year. Came across this... :)
    Battlefield 4 and Antialiasing Post

Did you know that with BF4's default AA graphics settings you may not be getting the best quality textures in the game?

We are hard at work testing BF4, and the first thing we discovered was that the textures did not seem up to par for a new Frostbite 3 engine game. We quickly found out that by turning the "Antialiasing Post" (inherently FXAA) graphics setting to "Off," fixed this problem. The textures were now much sharper, clearer, and the fidelity in the entire game was better.

Post AA seems to be adding blur over the entire image, even though it does reduce aliasing on everything. It is the nature of FXAA, but it seems apparently bad in BF4 according to our testing so far. You have an interesting choice. We have a poll and a discussion thread which we would love to hear your feedback on what settings you prefer while you play BF4.

That was it. It's now running 4 cores at 4.2Ghz and although the performance is still incredibly lacklustre, it's generally reliable 25-60fps, whereas before, it was higher but kept spiking horrifically. Thanks a lot for the suggestion - just enjoyed my first proper game!

Been using afterburner for ages and I was never quite sure why when I updated drivers it would report a new Catalyst version but keep an old Driver version. Though I was doing something wrong several times, including tonight when I caused a BSOD for a minute. The thing I didnt cop was that its displaying the Direct3D driver, not the display driver. Really should be made clear in the UI

Anyways, now lets see if the jump from 13.4 to 13.9 bumps performance.

Its basically how corsair have the drive bays setup. Gone are the days of screwing in your dvd drive or res in my case. They have latch now. so if I put in my res it would reach the area that has the latch

So i see people are having issues running bf4 on overclocked fx 6300's despite near 100% cpu usage on all 6 threads. Is this just an issue with the beta or the cpu? Gonna be hard to keep recommending the fx 6300 if it's the cpu.

I see windows 8 is giving significant frame rate boosts over 7 as well. Must be the dx 11.1 support.

When I was running at 6 cores at 4.2Ghz, it was running at a decent FPS but spiking badly, even though FRAPS was not recording this. Now that I'm on 4 cores at the same speed, it has improved a lot, lower overall FPS and it can dip to 25-ish, but it's remaining well enough on playability levels, though it's still very disappointing performance. People are reporting massive performance increases in 8 though, so it may well be a case that the 6300 is actually fine in Win8, but I don't want to upgrade just yet. All in all though I think I'll be selling this 6300 and 970 and going back to i5.

Just got my MikroTik RB951g and did basic setup on it, the range on this thing is crazy.

Just a normal router, needed something with decent range because of the thick concrete walls and I didn't want to use a repeater or second AP.

That sux...I was going for a drive bay res and pump for mine..
Do you think it could be modded to fit?

    Idk

It also depends on res/pump too. My last pump before the XSPC 5.25" D5 Dual Bay Reservoir would of fit

Seems to be running fine on the 8320 for me with windows 8 overclocked to 4.4Ghz. I see a lot of people on other forums are having problems with the 6300.

Massive difference with the 8320's and 6300 processors but the Intel processors are kicking ass

there is 3 pci-e slots on my mobo

Iv used the top slot and the 3rd slot for the cards. I could just use 1 and 2 slot but Id like to have space between them for cooling but if it comes it, ill put them in slot 1 and 2

Are you sure the motherboard supports that configuration? My understanding is that it support these pci-e configurations and speeds 1 card(16x0x0) 2 cards(8x8x0) 3 cards(4x4x4) . I wonder what speed you will get if you sue slots 1 and 3 since it's clearly not designed for that setup.

Now that those high end FX chips are reduced, they're actually not the worst value....the 9590 and 9370 that is. The 9370 is just a tad over 200 in a few places, which isn't bad for stock performance compared to i7's.

I was going to go for the 6300 but thank feck I splashed for the 8320, had to reduce the case to a merc alpha and have had zero issues with heat, same as any dearer case imo.

Does the 8320 have hyper threading that it getting such a big boost over the 6300 or something?
