On my way home from college last week I was behind a focus 1.4 who was behind a slow moving car doing 50kph. Well the focus went to overtake and it literally felt like eternity we hit a slight incline and I thought he was going to have to drop back maybe there was something wrong with this car as my focus is far from quick but this was a joke. I've never actually driven one so maybe there not too bad. My astra 1.3 was extremely slow from take off specially first and second was a bit of a pain on roundabouts but once it was up and going it was not too bad at all.

Having been a passenger in one I can verify they are desperate slow.....

    Sounds about right BP:o

Back to third regardless of speed to get it to pass anything!
Fourth was pointless, actually you hear of dangerously slow cars going about, they're one of them.

Having been in both I can say that yours is far quicker, genuinely!

@ CianRyan - If you attend the next drift day I can swing a lift in a very fun s14 a best friend of mine has :)

It's mad because there is some serious amount of 1.4 focuses on the road specially mk1 and mk2 they seem to be very popular.

    I've driven a mk1 1.4, it was nippy enough.

They could well be I haven't driven either. Apparently the mk2 feels slower than the mk1 going by what people say.

Maybe but the others weighed so much Pred

@ Bp - They are awful, I can't talk about the Mk1's but the Mk2 weighed about the same as a tank!

@ Cian - Not sure man, maybe he won't attend, once I hear of the next one I'll get after you :) Just had it's first run after being built at watergrasshill over the weekend. He'll have no hassle bringing you for a belt!

The mk1 focus was the first car I drove, I loved it. Handled well and made a decent noise for a 4 cylinder. Not quick by any means, but I didn't find it as "dangerously slow" as a lot of people on here would have you believe. No experience of the mk2 though.

I'd say the mk2 is a bit heavier than the mk1. There a heavy enough car. Hoping to get my ones leaky injector sorted Saturday. Hopefully there will be no more issues after that until at least after Christmas :pac: see how realistic I've become no point lying to myself saying there will be no more issues with it. At least the faults list is reducing slowly. There's never a boring moment when you drive it wondering what will go wrong next. Ah it's probably not as bad as I make it out to be or so I tell myself :)

My Mk2 was my first car, it genuinely was outrageously slow.
I'm not going on because of me having a quicker car now, just it genuinely was!

    Weight of Mk2 = 1,229 kg

    Weight of Mk1 = 1,150 kg

It's showing the same 0-100 times (14.1s) and power outputs (80Bhp). The top end of a Mk1 is a touch higher though!

Don't know at all so, maybe mine was especially slow as I had silly 18's on mine

my car has a 0-100 time of a little over 5 seconds, just for comparison.:cool:

Thats pretty quick for what must be a fairly heavy machine :)
    Mine is 6.8s, a long way from 14.1s :)

Tyre land Clarehall is gone, went there for a new front tyre, The word on the street is they got into trouble with the tax man, don't know how true that is.

I lurk here quite a bit but very very rarely post.
Just had to pop in and say don't believe "the word on the street".
That's not even remotely true. It should be back open soon enough.

    Fast fast fast :D:D

Fron this video I guess that my car would be about 7 (or a bit under) too much wheel spin at the start.

Thats a fast Levin he has, the FTO was around seven-ish also.

    So all faster than a MK2 Focus:pac:

It's actually a fairly standard one, It has an exhaust but no remap to suit (I got that from the video description). 2 people in it too :)

I've never driven a 2.2, check out on Alfaowners, it seems to have 'hesitation'issues without a remap.
Lovely looking car though, my favourite colour for the brera.

Those Breras have a rep for being a bit sluggish  from what I've read. Lovely looking cars and a great colour too :)

They are going for nothing these days

    My dad's dodgy 1.4 Megane.
I've honestly never been in anything so slow, I can rev it out in second gear and it'll only do about 75k. :(

Well, looking to the future and I won't be holding back with my next purchase. :D

Jesus, I test drove a 1.4 Megane a few years ago, it struggled to get up hills, it was horrid.

    Alfa eh...:pac:

If you're going to do it right buy one with a v6 and rwd. I wish mine was rwd all the time!:(

Anyway this is a nice gt and it's frickin rare to see a 3.2 gt.
    http://cars.donedeal.ie/cars-for-sale/alfa-gt-3-2-v6-fsh-new-nct-taxed/5828607

It was rare to see a 3.2 v6 up on donedeal for ages then four pop along. I don't like the v6 gm in the brera so it's not counted. That track car is a beast by the way.

That is just fab, really lovely and for not much money, those cars will be hitting bangernomics soon enough

I was behind a transit today that put out considerably more smoke than your yoke:eek:

I havent seen that much smoke since I was driving behind a 1L charade td (back a good few years ago) with a bollixed engine:D

My first car that I owned was a 1l charade petrol, it was a right noisy little fecker, but great fun
