Howdy. I was wondering if any of you have any experience making your own hybrid drives with an ssd and hdd.

I currently have a OCZ Agility 3 60gb ssd that I use for windows and my non game programs.

A 120gb hdd that I use as a downloads folder.

A 500gb hdd that I use for games.

A 2tb hdd that I use for general storage.

I'm almost out of space on my windows and game drive so I'm going to buy a WD caviar blue 1tb hdd for the games drive and a 120gb Samsung 840 evo for the windows + programs drive.

I was thinking of turning the 60gb ssd into a cache drive for the 1tb game drive. What kind of boost would I get from this? Is 60gb big enough? What software would I need to use?

@BloodBath - have you tried this? Was thinking of doing the same.

Not yet. I got the 1tb wd blue but haven't got the new ssd yet so I'm still using the old one for windows.

Iv been looking and just cant find a flexible long sli bridge. Its quite funny I see amazon have one for 84 pounds lol

The one that came with the mobo is so close but just not long enough. Anyone know where I can buy a reasonable long sli bridge?

The sli bridge that came with your mobo doesn't match it's own slot spacing? Are you not using the recommended slots for your two cards?

there is 3 pci-e slots on my mobo

Iv used the top slot and the 3rd slot for the cards. I could just use 1 and 2 slot but Id like to have space between them for cooling but if it comes it, ill put them in slot 1 and 2

Ah, that makes sense. My mobo will only give me x16 for both cards if I use the first two PCIE3 slots. There's a smaller slot in between where I have my wifi/bluetooth card. Temps seem fine on the cards, but I have reference coolers.

Hi guys, I have an order coming in from HWVS. Much to my dismay, the package has been damaged (as reported by UPS tracking) I called UPS just to investigate it and they said they are just going to bubble wrap it as a precautionary measure.

Should I straight up refuse it or inspect the contents just to make sure nothing is damaged?

Oops, not right. I do have another PCIE3 slot in between my gpus, it was just hard to see looking into the case. So I have my gpus in the 1st and 3rd PCIE3 slots. According to the mobo manual 1st and 3rd slots are the ones which do x16.

Just got word back from the depot now - apparently the box got wet in the rain (that's why they pulled it aside)

    What do you guys reckon?

are the component boxes inside wet?

I don't know yet - I just got a phone call back from the Dublin depot explaining the situation . I will find out tomorrow when it arrives. Would you guys say the UPS driver would let me inspect the inside of the box?

I'd imagine the (outer) box must have been pretty saturated if they were to go to the effort of wrapping it in bubble wrap

the UPS driver doesnt really have a choice tbh dont sign for it until you've inspected it

If you bought a GPU check the ESD bag its in for condensation
Instruction manuals will also give you and indication

If youre not comfortable with it dont sign for it

yeah its a full build - from a PSU, CPU, GPU, motherboard, etc. It's a lot of money :o I don't get how they could possibly let it get wet tbh. It's Ireland - what do they expect? :P

Yea, make the delivery guy wait whilst you inspect, if he tries to leave, tell him there'll be legal consequences (as there should be).

If they've bolloxed it up, you'll have a much, much harder battle getting refunds etc if you accept the delivery.

If it got wet, they'd more than likely have told you, but don't sign for anything until you check it all and you're happy with it. The driver can be as pi$$ed off as he likes, it's a lot of money, and it's his job to wait around until you're satisfied it's in good order.

take pictures of everything if you have a camera to cover yourself

Its Ireland so bull**** with couriers is to be expected. but it will be useful so UPS dont try and pull any bull**** with HWVS which they dont tend to take after i was involved in the DHL issues they had

The driver will try all sorts to get you to sign so he can leave, but he has to wait. It's his job, so don't take any crap from him! Make him a cup of tea and tell him he's there for the long haul!

Quick, and somewhat dumb, question. I've a skype interview tomorrow. I have a logitech web cam with a built in mic. Do I need to use a set of earphones/headphones? Reason I ask is because I'm afraid that what he/she says will play out of my speakers and will be picked up by my mic, meaning that he/she hears himself/herself through my mic which I really don't want to happen.

ive used earphones/headphones for skype interviews for without issue

I believe skype has some cancelation stuff but i wouldnt put faith in it nor your webcam mic

    Good luck :)

I've done a few interviews over Skype with people. Headset is the way to go, far superior quality normally, and you don't want tech issues ruining your interview. (Best of luck by the way!) Top Tip: Look at the camera, or the screen, but don't dart back and forth between the two, it's very off putting for the interviewer!

man I never had an interview on skype before, must be weird

Now I had group interviews, horrible things

Sound for that guys. Not really looking forward to it all that much. Face to face interviews are fine. My internet has a tendency to just cut out from time to time.

explain that to them and give them your phone number or find a friends place to do it

I did one on a 3 modem which was interesting to say the least but i got the job anyway even after my second interview where i felt like i was going to die due to a lack of sleep and food poisoning while needing to fly out to it :pac:

dont worry about it face to face are much harder cause you have to spent more time messing with non job related stuff

Yeah, I was on to HWVS just there and got through to a very nice guy (with perfect english) he basically just reinstated the points you guys were saying.

Any specific things I should be on the lookout for? (I know somebody here mentioned condensation in plastic bags)
