Speaking of refresh rates and the like, Nvidia's new G-Sync technology has promise. I'm also incredibly grateful they didn't call it N-Sync.

I wonder if Korean dudes will mod their cheap monitors with these, adding little extra cost... hmmm that'd be worth waiting tbh
Otherwise, I hope somebody finds a way to mod these at home

those modules wont be separate from the rest of the processing controller in the monitors

also with neither of the big korean manufacturers were partnered today so its highly likely it wont come to any of the smaller manufacturers

hopefully the Oculus rift gets g-sync as once it drops below 60fps it becomes very jarring

    * Bump *

Anyone got an answer for my Haswell question below?

Ivybridge and Haswell are both worse for heat than sandybridge due to crappy cheap TIM Intel use inside the chips. This has not changed.

Some folk de-lid the chips and replace the tim with higher quality stuff and report 10 degrees drop in temps easily.

Ivybridge and Haswell both overclock up to 4.7ghz on air vs maybe 5ghz for a Sandybridge.

I run a 3770K @ 4.2ghz day to day and temps are in the 30s idle and in the mid to high 50's at load. temperature for modest overclocks is nothing crazy. Slap a good cooler on one at there really is not much of a problem.

i thought they will release modding boards for people to mod their current monitors... or does this line only apply to asus 144Hz?
The first native G-Sync enabled monitors won't show up until Q1 next year, however NVIDIA will be releasing the G-Sync board for modding before the end of this year

This is what I got with the 7970`s @ 1100/1350(thought that was what you had yours @) cpu is 4.4ghz 2500k
This is my max OC on air but I don't use it much as the noise is stupid.. but it is stable for when I go on water. its 1125/1650.... very hot though...I don't like pushing that far...Also volts for that @ 1.2

There some nice results man,how hot is very hot?:)

Best i can push is about 1050/1400 for the moment, still a bit of tweaking to do though, getting a strange voltage reading for the second gpu on gpu-z though. Its giving a reading of a max vddc of 1.438v which is worrying,so im very tired now and been at this all day so im gonna save all the profiles and dial it all back before i break something!!!!

Couldnt get the cpu stable at 4.4GHz,it was requireing too much voltage, stable at 4.3GHz at max of 1.272v with a max prime temp of 84C so im gonna stick with that. 4.4GHz was passing an hour prime test but heaven and 3dmark were crashing until i went back to 4.3GHz.

Im convinced the 13.9 driver is affecting the gpus,as im typing gpu usage is stuck at 99% on gpu 2:mad: Ill update to 13.10 tomorrow if i can find it.

Heres the results for the best scores i could get today,CPU 4.3GHz and GPU's at 1050/1400.

Max CPU temp was 70C in the benchmarks.

    Unigine Heaven score:
    276570.png

    3DMark score:
    276571.png

    GPU1 temps:
    276572.gif

    GPU2 temps:
    276574.gif

Fairly happy with the scores, the cards are getting fairly hot though, need to find a way too fix that.
Can anybody shed any light on the voltage reading im getting for the second gpu on gpu-z? I imagine that kind of voltage is dangerous:( Thats the first time i saw it do that today
Board limit is set to 20% but i have not changed the voltage, would force constant voltage and then set to 1.200v help?
Up until that the max vddc i saw was 1.242v on the first card, and that card used that exact voltage before i added the second one,the second was only using 1.119v all day till the last bench so i certainly dont want it going that high again

My god, this overclocking lark is a young mans game........off too bed with me:P

Seems roughly on par with mine, as far as I remember.. Lemee try and find the sheet I jotted my stuff down on

Edit: I threw it away :( I have some results from default heaven settings @ 1440p though

    Cheers man.

What clocks do you run the cards at and what temps do you get?

Im finding heat a real issue trying to get overclocks on the cards:(

The 2500k is still a decent chip (though I'm biased :)) as is the mobo-if it was me, I would aim to get €200 ono for both. In other words, if it's adverts, ask for a bit more as you will have some donkey low ball you and or offer you a swap for a Nokia 3210 & €50..

Thanks bud. that will do fine. should cover the cost of a few rads.

Friend is looking at upgrading his PC by getting a new CPU + Motherboard, along with a new cooler.
His budget is €350 and he doesn't plan to overclock, I was looking at an i5 4670 + H87 Motherboard and a Hyper 212, is there anything better that could be done?

EDIT: Was also looking at an AMD based build, but unsure how it would compare, he only uses it for games.

    xeon E3-1230v2. Same performance as non-oc i7-3770k.

Might as well get the xeon e3 1230v3 then. It's about 10% faster than the v2.

Anyone know where the back plate adapters for usb are on hardwareversand?

I'm looking for something like this, but no luck after a lot of searches and navigation.

Thanks for the offer. :) However, I order from amazon regularly enough so, when you count the free postage, it's not so bad. I'm just wondering if it's any cheaper with HWV, as I'll probably put an order through with them soon... still in the deciding process but my cart gets fuller and fuller.
I would expect that hardwareversand would have them, but I've done a good bit of searching around and can't find anything like that, even SATA ones, so I might be missing a section somewhere.

    Fan controller and new fans?

i've got new fans but I cant seem to get any control over the fans on the chasis. Fan controller in the asus auite has gone to crap.

Im getting crazy temps because the fan set up is different. I think I need to invest in a new case :(

Id try and sort out AI suite first..
Maybe get rid of it all together than reinstall it..

its not but i don't think my current case is helping in terms of the higher temps I'm getting, whats changed a water cooler and there are two less fans exhausting. My thoughts is that the problems lie with the case?. To deal with AI Suite I was thinking along the lines of a fan controller and I'll use that to deal control the fans.

And a new case might help with the over all cooling... My vcore 1 and 2 seem to sky rocket a lot more which I think maybe to do with the water cooler to.

It fits LGA 1155 so it will fit haswell socket as the mounting holes are in the same place.

Finally decided to sit down and play Hotline Miami. It's so frustratingly good. Just finished it there. Just as well I have a new keyboard on the way. One 4 hour sitting. I don't sweat this much out training.
