Finally got some word back on the beef data.. sent back consent form there today.. we going to get E20 per calf this year? and E60 per suckler next year minus 25 per sample to dna test 15% of 2014 calves

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 3,433 ✭✭✭darragh_haven

Thank god its dried off, still it means that nearly half our cattle will be housed by the weekend after over 100mm of rain since Saturday.

I just clicked mine online on agfood yesterday - it said that the facility to input the information will be available shortly.

Every few quid helps I suppose!

More than 15% of my herd are pedigrees and i have to dna test them anyway. The testing only costs €10 for them. Hopefully this will be sufficient rather than having to pay €25.

this is a bit different. atm the pedigrees are being DNAed to verify perentage AFAIK

The new scheme is going to Genotype them hence the difference in price

we got a letter from icbf a few weeks ago to dna test a couple of pb aa calves , they gave us 2 specific numbers and said if they are heifers you dont have to pay for testing but if they are bulls you do:confused: rang angus association and they said they will follow up on the bulls dna but the heifer ones will be more than likely left in a pile.
