GIR means you will be putting for Birdie or better. (on in 2 on par 4s, on in 1 on par 3s etc)
Thanks webbs for clearing that up;)

14 GIR and only 3 pars with only 3 3putts? Doesn't add up?

Would it still count if you putted off the green with an eagle putt?
i.e Par 5: On in 2, off in 3....... I know a guy that did this once :o Long putt to a tucked away flag... in fairness to me him

    10 pars
    8 bogeys

    (80) +8 playing off 8

Made some good up and downs then missed some very get-able putts.

All in all level with my handicap seems about right although I bogeyed the last to leave a sour taste in the mouth, always nice to shoot in the 70's but wasn't to be.

39 points on a day when css was 37, so only a cut of 0.6 but it means that for the first time I do not have a shot on every hole on the golf course :D

    5/14 fir
    5/gir
    32 putts

and back as you were. Miserable 30 points, and unusually for me arriving at that score only the 1 scratch. Inconsistent everywhere. Hooking, slicing, terrible lag putting. Struggled with the change to winter ish conditions at times.

Then again, one or two super drives, a few great long irons and elements of the short game were very nice.

    3 greens, 3 fir.

    38! putts.

Crap day today around Charleville ...26 points

Hit 1 GIR .. I actually think I played way too safe at times. There are times when aggressive play is needed and instead I took the handy option!

Place was very wet...it'll be fair bad if we get a bad winter.

36 points off 16 in a society outing in Tipperary today. Highlights were birdies on 7 and 9. Lost a ball on 6 having just missed the fairway and didn't bother going back to the tee box.

Playing over a year and 32pts, which my best so far but 9 holes with three putts, usually fine with putting. Looking at short game course with pelz in Killeen?

    78 strokes (+7)

    11 pars
    7 bogeys
    31 putts
    34% fairways
    40% gir

Never made a putt outside 5 feet, leaving a few in the jaws & lipping out twice...

What a weekend, had a clean sweep this weekend in both club comps, both v par, yesterday finished +5 and today finished +4 both good for the win and received a total of 2.1 shots cut, they go with the .3 cut last weekend, can't believe though that today's css was 71, fecking tough going with only 13 guys below par, would of been an esr if css was 72 but sure what the hell, down to 15.8 now and thrilled.

had 155 (nett 147) for 5th in the top golfer tour championship in the heritage.
a quad on 10 today (4 seperate bunkers that were varying degrees of concrete & unplayable lies) cost me the win...

40 pts in Killorglin (my home course) off 16. This included three birdies and three double bogeys.

Congrats scuba. Great shooting - well done. Sure there's always next week to try and activate the ESR.

I had 34 points off 16 today in the monthly medal in Ballykisteen. Left a fair few behind due to carelessness. 47 points won it!

Always baffles me that your monthly medals are stableford but anyway 47 is ridiculous scoring! What's he playing off?

I know. Must ask the Committee someday why that is. I presume it's just that it's a small club and if they had them all as strokeplay a fair few people wouldn't enter.

Your man was off 12 - he'll have lost 3 shots now though.

35 points in Druids heath whites off 10.

Went out in 20 with a scratch and a 1 pointer so could have had 23!

Back in in 14 with two scratches and a 1 pointer!

Starting to feel more on form, ball striking is getting really good and putting needs a little work.

Great golfing scuba! Saw you top of the standings on Sunday too. Was a but surprised at the Sunday css alright, was 2 down myself so ended up missing buffer by a shot.

I'm assuming css is down due to bunkers being out of play?

I had the opposite weekend to you, 2 rounds, 2 0.1s. Much happier with how I played Sunday, but being on the hungover side of things didn't help.

Was putting much better on Sunday, tee box killed me. Was one up coming off the 6th, then duffed a 3 wood into the water off the tee on 7. Had a birdie with my 2nd ball, but only enough for a 6 & no strike on the hole ended up as a loss. Had my first 3 putt of the day on 8 to lose again, and on 9 another tee shot into the hazard. Parred 2nd ball, but again 1 too many. Finished the 9 2 down.

Back 9 started better, quickly got back level. Missed 2 putts that I should have made on the back, which would have had me +2 walking on to 17. Then on 17 hit the green, had glory on my mind with a share of the 2s but was too firm with the putt, which resulted in 2nd 3 putt of the day & another loss.

Rush of blood & sliced drive on 18th meant I had to chop ball out to side. Ended up with bogey, but again, no shot meant another loss.

Disappointed that I ended both 9s so poorly, with some good golf put in, but the game is about 18 holes & I didn't hold it together for 18 of them

What a sickener, that hole is prob the easiest on the course too if you can get your tee shot away. Green is well bunkered though!

13 over in the K Club Smurfit, very happy for first time there, green tees (society outing) and playing everywhere due to damp conditions Saturday.
6 pars, 11 bogeys and just the one double on 9, left an untold amount of putts, so many just glanced by the cup, bucketed with heavy wind driven rain for around an hour on the second nine but cleared nicely for the last three holes which was nice.

What time were you out at? We played there yesterday, teed off at 9, weather wasn't too bad on the front, but the back was a washout. Played about 5 holes in constant driving rain.....came home like a drowned rat only for the missus to say it hadn't rained all day around our way.

Told ya scub. you'd be cut fairly hard and soon after first seeing you play,

    to which you replied,

"i'm sick of hearing that at this stage".

    lol.

Were to tee off at 10.10 but I think it was about 10.25 in the end, it was about 10-15 where we had the brutal rain, had a pair of Mizuno Imperalite trousers, Galvin Green jacket and hat and pair of footjoy rain gloves in use so no slippy shots in the rain and bone dry when the rain stopped, don't usually play when rain like that predicted but it was a society outing so had to go...

Fair balls to ya so, that was great shooting in those conditions. Thats my stonewaller ruined...only had 31 points to show for my efforts, and that included a couple of birdies.

Think i need to invest in some decent rain gear alright.

Ha, I saw him in Saturday after the round & commented that getting from 24 to 17 in a year was great golf, then he goes out & gets another chop the following day.

To be honest, I think he's just being greedy...need to share some of those cuts around :D

I always have massive respect for anybody who takes up golf and gets under 18.

Under 18 is good golf - it is very hard to get under 18 In this crazy game. I know lads who where members of golf clubs as kids and , they go back into golf and it takes a year or two before they are near breaking 18.

Ok there are odd balls , just naturals and get to single figures in a year or so - but they are freaks. 1 in 100 sort of dudes.

Sorry , we have drifted into talking about rounds here again - that is against the rules.

Why does no one ever seem to have a bad round on this thread?!

I had a personal worst yesterday, worst round in 15 years I'd say.

19 points off 8, probably could've had a few more points but picked up a few instead of putting out, as I was already in the .1 back zone!

Previous week was 31 points. My pull hook is cancerous, lessons booked today!

Lesson on Saturday, played yesterday. RELIEF!!

37 points off 8 yesterday, 3 birdies, sloppy front 9 but got going and into the groove on the back 9. First time I enjoyed golf in 2013.

One more lesson to come. :)
