So accusations without evidence are ok then? As I asked earlier would it be ok to accuse all Romanians of being beggars or all Nigerians of being work shy spongers?

So the social welfare reports an 84% unemployment rate for travellers as of 2012. Yet walk by any traveller settlement and you see lovely expensive cars.

Sure who here hasn't had travellers knocking on your door selling carpets and the likes. Oh wait, thats not the 84%? thats the "other 16%"?

Why dont you go over to the motors forum and ask about how many travellers are selling cars and generally involved with making money in motors. But dont tell me, other 16 percent right? :pac:

    Hmmmmmm well done.

Both links say traveler's collect dole money but nowhere does it say they abuse the system. Any chance of evidence of abuse seeing as that's what you accused them of?

I can show you one guy who has never worked a day in his life, drops and collects his child from school every day but changes his car for a new model every year.

Come the good weather he'll be out front in the deck chair, with the country music blaring, with his cans of beer beside him. How can that be done? Maybe he won the lotto?

if you have a leak in your bath, you don't turn the tap up higher, you try find the source of the leak - Ireland, the bath in this example, are leaking money, the water in this example. One of the leaks is SW fraud. This is now to be addressed to the extent which JB has set a target of OVER 700 million - this money saved is then available to be either re-used or absorbed into debt. I'm not a fan of JB, or labour for that mater - but this effort makes sense, and a lot of it!

I'd imagine it would make more sense to put the plug back in first (most of the water will be going down the plughole)...after this is done it will be an easier job to find one of the leaks...

I can show you a nigerian lad who has 2 cars and never works does that mean all Nigerians are cheating the system?

I'll link this article for a second time, http://www.independent.ie/breaking-news/irish-news/travellers-suffer-84-unemployment-28821652.html.

I have a feeling trying to make you understand the facts I posted would be similar to trying to teach a blind person to drive.

Calling travellers on there blatant welfare abuse is not the same as saying all black people are lazy. Black people are diverse with many different cultural traits found in many nations. Travellers are a subset of Irish people who are not a different race, just a community that contributes nothing but complains about discrimination at every opportunity despite the best efforts of the state and do gooders to help them.

So it's ok in your book to tar them all with the same brush? Do you know many travelers? I know 4 brothers who work construction a few years ago, paid their taxes just like everyone else. Now they all have qualifications in IT yet they can't get an interview as soon as people hear their accents its a no no. But hey they are travelers and therefore must be sponging off the state right.

That does not give the gardaí the power to demand a PPSN.

You can be questioned under caution by both though

I agree I think they should attempt to get everyone who is working and claiming or single mothers who claim to live alone when they don't.

If your neighbours are working and claiming welfare do you think they should get away with it?

    Absolutely not

If anyone's caught they should be banned from the system for a minimum period as well as paying everything back in full

A lot of people are misinformed about how Gardaí and Social Welfare can share information.

There are laws that allow them to do this. Section 265 of the Social Welfare Consolidation Act amongst others.

So my advice? Don't listen to the freemen here as you'll only end up in bother.

So people are obliged by law to furnish a person who is not a Gardai, with their personal details, just because a Garda is present, and even though the Garda may not suspect you of having committed any offence?
A specified body holding information may share that information with another specified body who has a transaction with a natural person relating to a relevant purpose, where the specified body seeking the information provides the personal public service number of the person who is the subject of the transaction and satisfies the data controller of the specified body holding the information that the information requested is relevant to the transaction for that purpose between the person and the specified body seeking the information.

So basically the welfare official would need to give the Garda a persons PPSN number before any sharing of information takes place? How exactly would that work, if a person has not yet given their name to the welfare official?

And Moans response is to start blindly putting blobs of silicone randomly on the bath and hope the odd bit might plug a hole.

2 brand new ones that are changed every year?

How can someone who has never worked a day in their life afford the €27,000 car, that parks beside my van which is worth about €800 max? (i work every day and so does the wife).

There is no obligation to answer.

I suppose you don't have to answer the door when they arrive with a warrant to search
