People make a big deal out of going the gym,its almost like who does he/she think they are getting themselves fit..when i was in my twenties i was on the beer/pizza diet, was carrying a bit of timber myself. Now im in my 30's & getting on in years i decided to get the body in shape. Little did i know that my freedom to eat cake would come into question

On a thread entitled 'Stigma attached to going to the gym'?

As Marie Antoinette said let them eat cake

Pretty sure she was talking about her project team

    This thread raises two possibilities.....

    1) Veiled - "Oh look at me, I workout and go to the gym thread."

    2) Veiled - "Fúck me I'm desperate for a girlfriend, best tell everyone that I'm pretty buff thread."

Apple slice definitely falls under the category of "pastry".. nothing cake-y about it at all! Unless you meant apple sponge cake?

I would prefer to be overlooked for cake than have them push it on me because they think I could do with it. Cake pressure is a lot worse!

Ye i work for a small IT company, were always working on projects. At the end of it we are usually rewarded with a few drinks. Yesterday we got cake although there is free drinks this friday. Company giving free cake & drinks in the same week, the celtic tiger is roaring again!

Haha i do wear medium tshirts..none of this slim/skinny fit nonsense though. Used to be large back in the sit on the couch days, swimming on my now

    The cakes bought were

Apple slice.. Which has now been confirmed that its infact a pasty
A bun..which is an immature cake apparently
    Danish pastry
    Big chocolate cake
    Box of jam doughnuts

This is an outrage where's the lemon drizzle cake!!! You need to seriously assess your position with this company.

And get back to the gym and stop eating cake!

The opposite thing happens to my sister's boyfriend. He is about 17 stone and 6ft 4, so if he goes to the local shop for a roll, they overfill it for him. He has never asked for extra (but he is happy to have it!) but because he is a big fella they give it to him.

However, if my sister goes to get him the roll at the same shop, she is given a normal roll, not overfilled. She is a size ten.

So now he always gets the rolls himself. Anyway, point being, he is often given bigger sizes or portions of food, because he is a big guy. He is fit though, as he cycles a lot and plays rugby and goes to the gym.

I'm in terrific shape; I have very little body fat. People always look at me in awe as I devour my 17 sandwiches in the canteen everyday. "Where the feck do you put it?" they ask.

Frankly your workmates appear to be a little lacking in the brain department.

So you could've gone for a big fat chocolate cake or a box of jam donuts to yourself.
And you opted for a measly apple slice.

Congratulations OP, you have FAILED AT CAKE

Did you have tea or coffee with it?

You couldn't eat cake dry, unless maybe it was a flan.

    Very little body fat?
I dunno. If you're eating 34 slices of bread a day I'm really doubting that.

The more i think about the more ridiculous it was to question if i wanted cake

1.It was Monday afternoon - who wouldnt want cake on a Monday afternoon

2.We're all IT consulants/developers - its well known everyone in IT loves cake

3.who says no to FREE cake

    4. Limerick people love cake

    fat people be jelly

I was the same op, lost a lot heading in to my thirties and got into fitness routine which I still maintain, it's not that I wasn't offered cake though, oh no. It was quite the opposite especially where female friends or relatives were concerned. It was "here have a bit of cake" or "how about a second serving of roast beef with all the lashings" or oh.."I just added some extra butter and fat to your cornflakes hope that's ok".
Family made loads of comments about not eating enough and losing too much weight but coming from people who were verging on obese it all made sense. Over the last few years a lot of women who were overweight on meeting them have gone down the same route and joined gyms or started eating plans and have lost a lot of belly jelly, they look great but rest assured, the evening sitting at home bitching about so and so who's lost a ton and is looking well had a lot to do with it.

And they're peanut butter and jam sandwiches at that. ;) No I was exaggerating. I only eat 8 sandwiches a day with ham, cheese and rancheros. Yummy.
