So re-watching the episode tonight, because the ads were distracting me last night (I'm in the US at the moment and attempted to watch it live on TV - silly mistake), and I noticed that they made a very big deal about Millhouse getting Daryl to shake his hand at the beginning of the episode!

I hope that Millhouse didn't infect him with his virus germs!

With Daryl licking his fingers too, and milhouse coughing into the shower water, it seems they are trying to highlight the danger of transfer

Anyone else when the Irish one said "oh, you call them walkers?" expect her to follow it up with "i call them taytos"?

    Seriously this needs a meme!

    No problem!

So did anyone else notice how picky the people killing the walkers at the fence seemed to be? Just kill them all!

They were just gauging who the easiest to kill would be I'd say...looked like they'd be there all day at the rate they were going though!

For those talking about it, the preview at the end of the episode wasn't for next week's episode; it's the preview for the whole season.

    Erm......riiiight

The second half of season 3 really picked up the action... It may be worth trying again.

Season 3 was awesome. I felt season 2 dragged & I thought that I may give up. Glad I didn't.

Good to see that Daryl is still blatting around on the loudest motorcycle in history and that the Hyundai SUV is as pristine as ever :D

Looked fairly dusty and dirty to me. But the joke has worn thin anyway, there is a deal in place that the Hyundai can't be pranged or have bloodstains on it. Think it's time to get past the fact! :p:pac:

Thought it was a good episode overall. The shop scene being a highlight. As someone mentioned earlier, the effects weren't Oscar-winning quality, but I don't mind that personally. Even going as far back as Season 1 and the CDC blowing up was pretty poor CGI. The money shots are the bloody and gory prostethics and make-up.

Did wonder what the point of the Irish woman was, but don't mind that it didn't go somewhere, was a nice change to hear the accent and just shows what people are doing to survive outside the prison. Can see it really stepping up action-wise from next week on.

    Delighted it's back.

Oh, and sparkthatbled, your post should be POTD! :D

I'm amazed they haven't drawn the link between Daryl comings and goings and the arrivals of herds of zombies.

Piglets turned out OK, Hershel snapped branch off and said if you plant it in the ground it will grow

    Seems to be a theme

With the dead pig and the dead boar in the wood something is passing from animals to humans then.

The guy at the fence wasn't as decayed as others

Darryl brought an animal back that he hunted, and Millhouse thanked him for it. Is there a link then that Millhouse got sick from eating?

Kerry Condon is her name from Tipp.....but im sure she was doing a Cork accent seeing as its Rebel week :)

I think they are trying to build a threat now from each other. Poor personal hygiene & weaking immune systems is leading to outbreaks of illnesses that are long forgotten in the western world. I think there will be increased paranoia and isolation for anyone perceived to be 'sick'

She's from Thurles, I remember the big hullabaloo when she did Angela's Ashes!

Anyone have any theories for why rigor mortis doesn't stop the Walkers from being mobile or why they haven't starved to death?

I'm more inclined to wonder how long it takes dead flesh to rot away, ie, no brain left to animate the body.

I always thought The Walking Dead missed a great opportunity for a cheap effect by not having the walkers surrounded by clouds of flies.

Rigour Mortis is only a temporary condition.

And they're dead, do they even require food?

And also, how can rotting muscles give the sort of super-human strength that's tactically deployed, for example, when Beth's boyfriend gets eated, but other times they can be easily held off by characters with plot armour?
It kinda seemed like the introduction of the new characters was like putting them in a Red Away-Team top, because you could almost tell who was and who wasn't going to die. New character has a nice relationship with someone, doesn't say goodbye, so of course he dies. New character is liked by everyone and is a nice guy, so of course he dies.

My test is "were they in the wire?".
If the answer is yes, they're not going to die immediately.

As someone else already said rigor mortis is just one stage of decomposition, reading up on it it appears a dead body reaches peak rigor (stiffness) 12 hours after death after which it dissipates. As for them not starving, their digestive system is dead so they don't have the ability to process/derive any nourishment or energy from organic matter so one can only assume their appetite is down to muscle memory being thatthe only parts of the brain still functioning are likely the ones that control the most basic stuff like motor function and hunger.

Kirkman has covered this already....Walkers do starve and waste away.
Jenner explained the brain activity in Season 1.
Walkers strength was vaguely discussed during the comparisons of Shane & Amy and their turnings.
