I skipped the last few of season 3 during my recap but I didnt feel like I missed much. catching up on netflix but didnt have time. watching them now, kinda.

As for this most recent episode, I dig the upgrades to the prison - and also, it looks as though the virus might be showing signs of mutation: infection beginning in live, healthy hosts. Recall that in the timeline its only a little over a year since the outbreak.

Me and my brothers were also discussing Asskicker and I have a hunch that she may be immune: some stuff Ive learned from watching way too much sci fi. The mother has a disease the baby will carry the antigen or the immunity. Like in DS9's The Quickening

Sooooo, I suffered through all of season 2, finally cracking and bailing on this show about halfway through #3. Should I come back for number 4 sports fans? Will I be hideously lost (from promos I see we're still at the prison)

The second half of season 3 really picked up the action... It may be worth trying again.

the setup for the next episode is good, though wtf happened that guy? related to the pig dying or the deer Daryl killed? is it contagious?

looked like hemorrhagic fever toward the end.

the scene in the shopping mall with the zombies falling through the roof was class. Great start, and nice to hear an Irish accent, shame she didn't last though.

    roll on next week :)

Are the spoiler tags needed?, is this not a discussion about the episode?.

I was watching it drinking my morning coffee when I heard the Cork accent, I spat my coffee out shouting "what the ****!!" followed by a bout of laughter which resulted in waking a a few 'walking dead' in the house, lol I couldn't listen to a Cork accent for a whole season though:D.

Ah sure its just the obligatory....here are some new people, say hi before they die:rolleyes:.

No it is not the zombie virus mutating guys there are other types of illness still present in the world. The intensity goes up again next episode

Looks like those gun seeds were a good idea.

I just can't take any Oirish accent seriously on American shows so that was never going to work for me. She even had a sickly green hue about her ffs!

Other than herself, twas a very solid start to the season. The scene with them falling through the roof was class. It was a fairly agonising death for that kid even if it was telegraphed. It looked like Daryl was thinking about getting stuck into Beth. Anyone reckon he's already done the deed with Carol?

    Milhouse :pac:

That was a brilliant opening episode, I just hope we dont get a repeat of last season's ending.

Also mill house had a bite on his foot near the end, as their was a bloody footprint from his right foot when walking.

Went back to that and I couldn't see any bloodied footprint, just a lot of sweaty ones.

It kinda seemed like the introduction of the new characters was like putting them in a Red Away-Team top, because you could almost tell who was and who wasn't going to die. New character has a nice relationship with someone, doesn't say goodbye, so of course he dies. New character is liked by everyone and is a nice guy, so of course he dies.

The Irish is clearly not really Irish.

Any Irish person worth their salt would have a hurley with them all times

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,535 ✭✭✭✭briany

Yeah, that Irish one took me by surprise. I was hoping she'd make it back to camp and spend the next couple of episodes singing tunes from the old country with Hershel. :pac:

We already had the psychologically broken survivor last series, didn't we?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,190 ✭✭✭✭IvySlayer

Maybe he just caught something off the pig and died.

    Swine flu? :P

Interesting first episode. Wasn't as good as I was expecting but I guess if I put it in perspective, it beat Dexter's final episode :P

Thought the CGI was really poor. Don't remember it being that poor before. If you want to do something graphically, then you have to do it right. Nothing screams cheap more than poorly done CG.

With all that being said, I'm looking forward to next weeks episode. I guess there's going to be all hell breaking loose in the base as one of the own goes on a rampage. Was it the deer that Daryl brought back? Are we going to see others change too?

Guess we'll have to wait until next week.

I imagine once they find harry potter has turned sans bite and had previously complained of being sick they will tie up anybody who shows symptoms just incase, which would actually be an interesting story thread in a interning the Japanese Americans during WW2 kinda way.

And yeah I'd reckon violet the pig was meant as a graphic representation that the deer and any other animals they eat are possible vectors for disease the deer presumably having picked up something nasty drinking down stream from a rotting corpse .

Interesting that despite the sick pig, seemingly no one mentions Herschel the vet.

I can see The Irish women come back as a walker and kill one of the main characters, with Rick looking on in horror and pondering should he have put a knife in her head when he had the chance.

they did that story already with karl already, so don't think so

I really enjoyed it. I didn't come in with any expectations or having watched any trailers and thought it was a very good episode. Can fill the void that BB has left me on Mondays anyway.

Anyone else disappointed there was no zombie pig?

Nothing special about this episode, especially for a season opener. Went into it knowing there'd be a big zombie fight with someone getting killed et voila. Whatever killed Milhouse will be the driving force of the next few episodes. Also, from the preview shown for the rest of the season, it looks like they'll eventually go down the route of the comics re: Guv vs. Prison. Really wishing they'd start making good use of Tyrese soon.

    Refresh my memory?

Season 2. Karl gets scared by a zombie in the forest and wusses out on killing it. Zombie shows up out of nowhere in the next episode and guts Dale.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,761 ✭✭✭✭degrassinoel

there's a scene with Herschel and Rick talking, Hershy has no crutch and seems to be walking alongside rick for a moment, just continuity but it bugged me, did anyone else notice that?

I know right? They decide to introduce a bad ass fan favourite from the comics, cast it perfectly in the form of Cutty from the wire then proceed to make his sister the badass while he whines about how he doesn't like doing the fence or going on supply runs. The mind boggles.

It really does make you wonder what they have in store (if anything) for Michael Cudlitz's Abraham.

They later show Herschel with a prosthetic foot. Guess they're allowing him to act as normal.

I wish they'd leave Abraham out of it until at least season 5. I wanna see Tyrese grow into who he's supposed to be first.

Clara was played by an Irish actor
    yes Hershel has a prosthesis
    no Patrick was not bit
Walker Patricks fate is shown if you watch trailers its plain to see
So is the fate of the Samuel's patriarch
Intensity only increases from here guys :)

AMC are pure clowns at revealing spoilers in their promo for the next episode's.I try to avoid them at all costs, although i did see the one they showed at Comic con which unfortunately was riddled with them.

I never watch that at the end of episodes, always turn it off beforehand.

How come the seemingly many soft spots on the roof didn't have any of the many walkers on top of them before hand? It's not like they all fell down the same hole, and it wouldn't have weakened in that weird way just due to numbers.

Some quality bits of Zombie gore though this ep. The guy hanging out of the roof from a tangle of his own entrails, the other lad peeling himself off the ground but leaving half his face stuck there and the guy having the top of his torn off by soon to be Zombie red jumper all stood out.

Overall I liked the ep, moved things along nicely from end of last season, and at least we spared watching them set up a fukking old folks home, wonder what happened the old foagies though

Great to have it back, its like a nice reward for getting through Mondays at work during the Autumn/Winter

lol - she is the waitress who got smacked in the face by Colin Farrell in Intermission.

    Quality zombie gore episode.

So, did Millhouse die suddenly then turn, or turn while alive? Is this just an illustration of why someone needs to be on watch at all times in case people die in their sleep - or something else?

Loved the gore in this episode!!

For those talking about it, the preview at the end of the episode wasn't for next week's episode; it's the preview for the whole season.

Decent opener alright- was a bit miffed that the Irish chick didn't get to stick around a bit longer though.

Am very curious as to what happened to Milhouse (I like that, even when I find out his actual name I'm gonna stick with that). Reckon he's infected with some new strain of the virus- there was a walker at the start at the fence whose eyes were all bloodied- I thought at the time that was new. Milhouse's eyes were like that in the last shot of him.

They showed Rick looking at that particular one twice in the episode. Definitely something up there.
