Lads, ye all seem to be talking about autoclosing. The Avantime opens everything at the touch of a button.

Mine did/does both, and I'm guessing everything else mentioned in this thread does too.

Not sure why everyone is quoting their Remote key all open/close mode as a feature, thats not interesting!?

It's not, but I don't think anyone said it was, they just said having a button for open/close is hardly innovative; and imho where the button is is irrelevant. Sure, getting to the button if my keys are in the ignition requires a certain element of reacharound (ahem), but I could take it with me and zap it as I walked away. I'm not sure of the benefit of having it in the car, besides showing off.

Of course you're just making a point, and your real point is that the glass is the thing, but I'm afraid I still have to say meh. It looks like an MPV but it's not 'M' in any way, it only seats 4, it's got Renault's terrible "fat arse" design language, and the body panels are plastic (and sound it, according to the video I looked at) because the chassis is steel for rigidity, and the whole thing is ultimately just a compromise for show. Even the ridiculous Merc 5 door shooting brakes and 4 door coupés are practical, in comparison. This is just a poseur's car, period.

Even if there were a way to justify it for a family (there isn't), I'd take an early Previa or Espace over that yoke any day of the week if the wife'd let me (she won't), and failing that a Transporter or a Merc. Personally though, I'd prefer that E31 from a ways back. The kids can walk.

Try one of the breakers up north?
You should be able to fit an entire leather interior in the 7 series.

ive been looking for the seats the same as in this http://cars.donedeal.ie/cars-for-sale/bmw-7-series-740i-l-v8-4-4-auto-/5651386

but I can only seem to find cars for breaking with the standard seats, or overprices examples like that for whole cars with them in it.

With a button on the dash while moving? Or with a button on a fob while stationary?

That car has been for sale in a couple of different garages in Kildare since before I bought the 7er. I think it was around €8950 they were looking for it back in 2010 and the 735 was advertised for €4.5k at the time. Fine bus though!

That guy's nuts if he thinks he's going to get anything even approaching asking. He'd be lucky to get half it, no matter what the condition.

You would pay that in the UK for a clean one in that spec easy.

    Here - not so much!

The guy that used to run ultimate7.co.uk asked that kind of number in sterling for his cars, and I've no doubt he used to get close to it too, but you just can't sell a barge for that over here.

We all start high, but there's high and there's dumb.....

Bigger market for them there with lower tax - as I said earlier that car has been for sale for well over 3 years now. ;)

Mmm, oyster nappa comfort countered seats with blue piping, the ultimate seat.

I had nappa comfort seats* in my E38, but they weren't as nice as those. Any more pics, LM?

*The original owner paid more to upgrade the standard leather seats to nappa comfort seats than I paid for the whole car a few years later :D

I'd say that's fairly priced tbh rather than particularly a bargain. They are fine cars but hardly rare and big running costs at the best of times.

Been keeping an eye on this thread. You lovely gentlemen (ladies... unlikely) may be able to give me your opinions. I'm changing jobs, going from a company car to a car allowance.

I'll get €8500 a year plus a fuel card to cover all fuel costs. Have 2 small kids and a wife that can fill a Passat CC boot to the brim for a 24 hour stay away from home.

I'm partial to a barge and like my cars executive as [The swear filter has a purpose]k.

To me the fact that MPG is of no consideration, the ridiculous amount of bargains out there and my space requirements coupled with the allowance which should easily cover the big tax and insurance and possible expensive parts, a luxobarge looks, as hard as it is to believe, like a "sensible" option.

I may be kidding myself but what do ye think?

    By way of contribution...

How on earth did kevpants post get past the swear filter? I dont think that language is necessary, in fact I hate seeing stuff like this, its disgusting.

Is your employer providing you with a cash allowance subject to PAYE or an actual car on which you have to pay tax on BIK? If the latter, it's inefficient to get a car which has depreciated as the BIK is still charged on the original open market selling price.

The swear filter serves a purpose, please use it in future Kevpants.
