I know! Hope it doesn't run out. Shot 39 points last week so hopefully it'll still be there in 2 weeks time.

33 points off 17 today, very blah round, could have done with 3 or 4 more coffees.
Happy that current form is resulting in bad rounds being buffers. Might try to sneak out tomorrow in search for a cut.

Just started playing again this year a month ago. Played in 3 singles competitions since.

38 points the first day - putted well, but scratched 16 and 17.
39 points the second day - putted ok but literally nothing outside of 3 feet dropped. Not a single one putt in the round, but I lipped out on 6 or 7.
34 points yesterday - driving was awful but I somehow never lost a ball, and I duffed 8 shots! As far as I could tell, everything was fairly poor. I have no idea how I ended up with 34 points!

Playing again tomorrow. I wonder what will go wrong then...

Scored 113 yesterday playing bray for my second time playing 18 holes. Dropped 5 shots from my first outing for a slight improvement. Started lessons this week and changed my grip so struggled with the feel Of it for a good while. My tee offs were dreadful at times kept slicing it, the more I got into the game I kind of got control of it. Happy tho and learning each outing.

Managed to shoot +2 around citywest on friday. Made 3 birdies for the first time in a single round too. Playing off 9(8.6). I was even par teeing off 15th..went on to miss a 4ft putt to save par..then bogeyd the par 3 17th..all in all a great round. could easily have been even par though.

Sadly not, just got lucky with the bad shots. 4 mad sliced drives, twice I had to chip out, twice I was offline enough to still be able to get at the green. 8 duffs, all putting me closer to the hole in the right direction. When I'm on form the duffs are into lakes and bushes and I have no idea where the slices go.

And after 15 years of golf I'm still waiting for the day when all the elements of my game are good on the same day. No reason it won't be tomorrow though:)

I was 7 over after 6 holes today and said, if I manage to break 30 points, I'll be doing well..... so I went 1 under gross for the next 7, to be 6 over after 13, but a double bogey on 14 meant I was back to playing to break 30 points, which I did, by going par, bogey, par, bogey for 31 points :)

39 points on a day when css was 37, so only a cut of 0.6 but it means that for the first time I do not have a shot on every hole on the golf course :D

wasn't playing well, short game was a misery. Haven't practiced in weeks and was duffing chips and leaving nothing close. Driving wasn't great either and in truth the only thing that was really working was my long irons. Played two or three lovely 4 irons into the low index holes (3 over for the 7 lowest indices (level one over for the first 4)).

In truth the low 3 lucky shots converted bogeys into pars on the last 3 holes to move me from the buffer to a cut. Delighted though.

    5/14 fir
    5/gir
    32 putts

Thanks scuba, competition results are in and I won - my first ever win in Ballykisteen!

This is my card from yesterday. I think I miscounted the putts on my post yesterday. otsi=SPIClink

    Some back 9 ballyk.

    Amazing considering only one gir.

    Wish I could do that.

Great game today. 83 strokes off 14 at O'Meara course at Carton House

    1 birdie
    7 pars
    8 bogies
    2 doubles

Parred the 1st 4 holes, then bogied 5 and 6, then lovely birdie 2 on the short par 3 7th. Made the turn in 39, playing superbly. But started the back nine with a double. Played a 'safe' 5W off the tee but pulled it left into heavy rough, then stuffed the second 10 yards into a bunker. Struggled a little in the first half of the back nine but settled to finish strong. Annoyed with myself when I duffed my tee shot on 16 into the lake for my second double.

Overall, my ball striking was really good all day. Putting was rock solid even though the greens were forked and sanded.

Only disappointment was that it was a non-qualifying event (society outing). That score would easily of got a cut and I would have hit my target of 13 by year's end. Unfortunately I reckon I won't get another chance before winter rules kick in. :(

Thanks Fix. Yeah it was strange to look back and see I hit a lot more girs on the front 9 than the back 9. I was just off the green in a few holes on the back 9 though so I had the choice of a putt or a pitch which made things easier.

30 points today in Druids glen playing off the whites off 10. Kept pulling everything or slicing. Very inconsistent :-(

36 pts at donabate today, three scratches cost me the comp as 38 won the lot.

Never played the course before and was pleasantly surprised as for 15 euro it was good value IMO.

Edit... Just checked the scores on the website and I was fourth for a prize..wahey.

So imagine my delight on Sunday with a 2 over Gross on front nine, 10 over on the back nine to give a Stapleford score of 40 pts.
5 needless dropped shots in the last 6 holes made me fear the worst. But the results have come in today and I'm a WINNER:D.

One week Cock of the Walk is next weeks Feather Duster.

    24 pts this week.

    Aaaaaagggggghhh!

A not too hot weekends golfing from me this weekend.

Saturday, caught up with a couple of mates & headed out to Macreddin for a friendly round. Hadn't ever played out there before so was definitely up for it. (Sorry for letting you down AJ, only got wind of it late on, and knew there wouldn't be any trouble filling the timesheet for a Sat morning slot. Not being on Facebook makes staying up with whats happening in the world much more difficult these days)

Played alright golf, 29 points. Started well & had 10 points after 4 holes by leaving the driver in the bag & playing percentage golf, up the middle. Then was goaded into going for the short par 4 5th (was a friendly game so didn't take much persuading). Hit a solid drive, but caught the edge of the trees on the left and of the fairway, and disappeared from there. Resulted in scratch, and from there I never really got going again.

Think I'd fair better if I went out & played it again. Is a cracking course & I'd highly recommend taking a visit out to anyone who hasn't played.

Sunday, out in Grange Castle, and a poor 27 points. Started with a 4-putt  on the first (couldn't tell you when the last time that happened was, but Id guess maybe 3 years ago)

That really set the standard for my putting for the day. Ended up with 39 putts. Have probably been averaging 30-31 for the last 2 months, so it was a painful drop off.

    Ended up with stats of

    57% FIR
    28% GIR
    2.17 Putts (2.2 per GIR)

Only positive is picking up a birdie 2 on the 17th, which means a share of the 2s pot. Looks like there were only 3 2s on the day so might get a few quid back.

Out to 11.7 now, and running out of time. Would like to get to 11 before the end of the year, so hopefully can put in a decent round before the weather turns & we're back to Winter Conditions.

Why does no one ever seem to have a bad round on this thread?!

I had a personal worst yesterday, worst round in 15 years I'd say.

19 points off 8, probably could've had a few more points but picked up a few instead of putting out, as I was already in the .1 back zone!

Previous week was 31 points. My pull hook is cancerous, lessons booked today!

36 pts around Carne golf libks(belmullet) off the whites off 13. That's my best ever round down there. Had 4 1pointers and a scratch too. It's a tough course was very happy with how I played considering I had a 2 week lay off from a bad back.
