An 11 year old Renault. It':prunning out of NCT, someone offered €2.5k for it and the seller didn't accept? LOL, I would have bitten his hand off. And his arm :D

Don't get me wrong though. I quite like the quirkiness of them. I'd even buy and drive one, but I don't think I'd ever pay more than a pittance for one...

Last time checked we were well on our way into Oct :p

Yeah I like the Jags too, but Im wondering, is there a reason why people are selling them other than due to high tax, there seems to be a huge number of them for sale at the moment.

Probably because they arent as good to look at as they are to drive, with light steering. The mpg is also terrible as they are V8s.
    Think about the running costs
    Road tax 1800
    Fuel for 10k miles at 20mpg =3600

Sure people pay more than that in depreciation but this is cash money going out of your pocket every week/ every 3 months. Its a bit of a downer.

Saw one in Limerick on Sunday last outside Tesco. Gorgeous. Because I was ogling it, owner started chatting and did the one touch down thing. I'd love one. The only made 8500 iirc of them worldwide so they'll be collectible yet. And it's only 2L so not the end of the world to tax.

I don't understand the awe of the one-touch business. Every BMW I've had can do that.

Would love to see your BMW with a large panoramic roof.

Some were 3L V6 but not very powerful; a former colleague of mine in France has just sold one he'd had from new in 2003. He was beginning to find the repair bills annoying - he has three classic Beetles (50s, 60s & 70s) and between them they were used more and cost less to repair. A pity as it was the genesis of that entire design motif for Renault and in many ways gave ideas (higher driving position, large windows) which led to (more user friendly) mini SUVs and cross overs.

    Nice and rare.

Which will make trips to the motor factors in future years an utter pain in the nut sack.

    Not into classic cars then?

Trips for what? Motor factors only have generic stuff, any brand / model specific parts you have to get elsewhere. Be it for a 132 plate Kia CommonAsSh1te or a rare Renault Avantime...

It's not that cool. Most VAG cars have that facility remotely through their keys. It's called global opening/closing..

My 1996 Audi A6 had that feature - windows, roof, central locking in one go.

edit closing only mode - it wasn't that clever!

Anyone have space they can loan me for 4 or 5 years.
I'll let you tell your mates that you own an 850?

That's one rare car. I might have a word with my next door neighbour. He's between keeping his 520d and getting an 8 series, or buying a new 520d!

Unusual colour for an E31. Looks minded too, but I'd be wary of the TN plate. Never seen a good driver yet on a TN, they're very much in the same category as plates with an I to the far left, surrounded by stars. :)

SEC is fab too. It's amazing how the get away with the chav looks.

You're not alone always been a big fan of the Mercedes Sec up the with the 8 series as the ideal second car I'd love to have someday.

Sounds like a man who knows what he wants! The 8 series looks much better in silver which brings out its very subtle but pretty lines. In red and dark colours it just doesnt. Heres one on donedeal in silver http://cars.donedeal.ie/vintagecars-for-sale/bmw-850-for-breaking-or-will-sell-comple/5767087

Each to their own. I think they look boring in silver, take the red over it any day of the week. I'd take a big BMW in orient blue over both though.

thats a cracking e31 , but would he not put it through the NCT, even a fail sheet would certainly help shift it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,940 ✭✭✭✭bear1

Depends what it failed on :)

I'm afraid to even ring and ask, I will end up with an e31 outside the house and no idea how it got there
