My granny had a walking funeral procession in Terenure on a weekday afternoon a few years ago.Someone had cleared it with the Guards though because there was two of them at the front to stop traffic.Thought it was a nice way to go,she knew nearly everyone in the village judging by how many people and business owners came out to pay their respect on the way down to the church.

Don't think I'll ever know,or be liked by as many people to ever justify one myself though.

If you are keeping a safe difference, it means you can stop without hitting the car in front, no where does it say that I car has to fit in. If Car A and B are going at a constant speed, and Car C decides to cut in between them, and Car A breaks hard, Car C will hit straight into it as he won't be a suitable distance away.

you are trying to bend the basic rule of stopping distance for your argument of over taking.

Please quote where the cars in questions sped up? from the below I see no mention of it?

The law states that you need to use due consideration, deliberately cutting off other traffic is a violation of that. When someone overtakes you they are now the car in front. You need to move back to a safe distance. Just because its a funeral does not mean that it is ok to form a slow moving convoy and block other traffic. Other road users are not superseded because its a funeral and its barbaric to force other to accede to your customs.

You are correct, he didn't say anything about speeding up. Sorry about that.
