Nick Dougherty had a 12 on the par 4 18th at Carnoustie. He'll never be back playing top level golf again.

Saw that alright! Is it his mental game or his swing that deserted him?

Also Oliver Wilson is another who has really faded! Both were Ryder Cuppers!

Higgins and McGrane not going too well, but Peter Lawrie and Simon Thornton going along nicely. Early days though.

Haha, that was timed well :D

I also see Tom Lewis is on -8, he did nothing this year either after a superb start to his career!

To anyone else watching the dunhill links.

Did you ever see a more awkward interview than we just saw with Hugh Grant. The last question "what was it like kissing Andie McDowell?"

    To which he replies

"it was quite agreeable, she's a good girl you'd like her.

    Cringe

Has anyone been to this event or any pro-am to be honest? I always thought there is no way I would feel comfortable hitting a shot when the crowd are beside the ropes so to speak!

He is a funny man and a fine golfer but the CaddyShack impressions are a bit of a head wreck at this stage!

None of the leading five in the World's top 300, guess it shows the depth of modern golf really.

I think that was Wayne Riley with the questions. He's been at that craic for a while. Sometimes the questions he asks are interesting and a bit on the edge while others like the Hugh Grant interview fall flat on their face. He's reallly trying to be out there and a bit more interesting than the normal golf presenter. In fairness he probably seen David Feherty's profile in the States and fancys some of that this side of the water.

Cant believe he didnt pick it up :pac:

Must be tough to have your career just drop off a cliff like that though.

The big bonus is that plonker Bill murray isn't playing

Tim Henman shot 66 there a couple of years ago

Big improvement by the Irish golfers today. All but one of them improved on yesterday's score and in aggregate they improved by 40 shots, with both McGrane and Harrington knocking 10 shots off yesterday's score.

Let's hope for another good day tomorrow.

The scoring at the Dunhill Links is just ridiculous.

At the moment the people on 7 under won't make the cut!

That would be awful for someone like Simon Thornton who is on -7 as I write this and he is staring a cut in the face.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,557 ✭✭✭sydneybound

The old lady has been stripped naked this week!! The conditions may have been favourable but the course set up should have been tougher, the winner will be between -25 to -28 which is too easy.

You're forgetting two things though, it's a cut after 3 rounds and more importantly the courses are set up for handicapped amateurs.

I think the second part of that is the key point. Combine that with the relatively benign weather and the birdie fest is somewhat unsurprising.

A shame both Thornthon and McGrane missed the cut after a couple of decent rounds on -8 & -7. Worrying for Peter Lawrie another miss cut and poor old Higgins couldnt follow up on last week, hopefully he can pick up 30k at the Portugal Masters.
