nore sure but there was a sales rep here last week going on about the damage iodine based teat sprays do to the cow and farmer if used on an ongoing basis

Used to use iodine based before, switched to virolac concentrate haven't looked back since last cell count 130 avg around 100 all year, did spike twice but found two cows with mastitis n went str8 back down again. Gives good teat condition too whereas iodine will dry out teats I believe

I've heard that but been using deosan for 5 years now with good results, scc presently 60 , and milking a few culls OAD....... for the last few months we haevn't bothered post dipping only let the cows straight off to pasture, we still pre dip however.

I actually would prefer not to dip than use iodine base , just couldn't see worthwhile benefit from it.

I recall you being delighted with top up cheque last year. That has still to come when the inflation is calculated.

Grain guys wished they'd fixed some this year I'd say

    Heres a question.

We are paid on solids with a minus for volume.

    The 40 is 3.6 and 3.3

Now let's say your solids are good and your getting the base plus ten cents.

Now does the extra increas with the price increase. Do you know what I mean. Let's say it dropped to 20 cent would the same solids net you 10 cent extra or would they drop to 5 cent over base?

You are paid per kg P and kg F not volume so you are correct. If base was 30 and with same solids you will not be getting 10c extra.
Price is not based on volume as water is discounted as you correctly said

Thanks for that. So the price per kg of solids increased to the equivilant of 40c per litre at standard solids.

In your estimation how far into next year will we get before the inevitable market fall back?

Isn't the top up capped though,I thought? ie it couldn't chase current market price? meaning a loss?

Do they pay interest on the top up (after all, they have your milk) and they are not shy at charging it monthly on trading a/c's ?

Scheme was voluntary so if you didn't like the terms then you didn't have to participate.

GIIL manufacturing price for September has been retained at 39cpl inc. VAT.

So much for a leading milk price.

    It was ever thus. :(
