It's only from 99 onwards that there was more liftbacks on the road than the rest of the model lineup and it was due to them being more readily available rather than being more sought after. The reason for this is that production of the liftback version was transferred to the uk thus this model was far easier to get than the other versions which had to come all the way from Japan.

These UK models are inferior in my experience to the Japanese versions. I've seen things like alternators and starters give issues on these which is something you very rarely see going on the Japanese built versions.

A friend drives a 00 saloon, 1.4 petrol. About 200k on the clock now. He says the only things that's been done to it is proper servicing and clutch replacement. He's pretty adamant that it was one of the last to be sold here that was actually made in Japan. Backs up that theory anyway.

The saloon, 3dr hatchback, and estate versions were all made in Japan until the end of this model in 2002. production for the newer 02-07 model moved to turkey for the saloons/estates and the uk for both 5dr and 3dr hatchbacks.:)

To follow up on my sub €1000 auto that I needed today I picked up a 1997 CLK200 with NCT until 23/6/14, looks to be well looked after and 116,000 miles on the clock. Nice and smooth and very quiet all for €800 so I'm happy :)

    http://cars.donedeal.ie/cars-for-sale/mazda-6-new-nct-10-14/5356934

look ok maybe, 80k miles and NCT for 12month. I not like the floormats or wheels but asking price good at 1250 euro now

this one better though I think http://cars.donedeal.ie/cars-for-sale/mazda-6-2004-1-8-l-nct-08-2014/5706067 long NCt too and miles not much more high, price at 1650 euro and 2004. inside look ok clean too.

thi sone 2005 but 151k miles, but I do not drive many miles so if it ok now I not be worried about past miles, price 1950 but 7 months of motor tax on car and NCT February 2015 http://cars.donedeal.ie/cars-for-sale/2005-mazda-6-taxed-414-nct-2-15/5419762

Not sure how to post a link from Donedeal app.

I'm going to have a look at 02 Xsara 2.0 HDI. Looks tidy with just under 130k miles.

I'm not familiar with those cars. Anything I should be aware of when looking?

Its overpriced but I wouldn't say its very overpriced. Plenty of NCT left and if its in good order like the seller suggests (no 13 year old car will be in mint condition as mint means as it left the factory) its hardly too far off the mark. Assuming its not due a timing belt in the immediate future then I think if you get it for €1,200 to €1,300 that would be fairly on the money.

Why why just why won't people put in the mileage, its beyond me.

Mrs Skibum has had a 2000 scenic for the last 10 years, never had any major problems with it, touch wood, but we know of two 2004 / 2006 scenic's where they broke their owners hearts with electrical issues.....

As we know, every price is negotiable,I'm sure if somebody turned up with 2k in cash it'd be sold.

probably not......... if you have a good car for sale, you can hold out for a near full asking price......its a seller market at the mo, with a shortage of good cars for sale.......

600 quid off of asking? I doubt it on a 2.6k list!
