    And the palace fans sang
    'Oh lucky lucky,
    Lucky lucky lucky Liverpool'
    My favourite chant.
    They were class supporters.

Re the palace game I recall being disappointed we didn't get ten. Different times. ..

Feeling old having watched those goals - remember them clearly though, McMahon's chip was a peach, Barnes free kick was clinical but really...Stevie getting two was great - he was a favourite of mine for years.

Mackay of cardiff could get it, technically the united game was in September so our record in August is only the two wins while cardiffs is 3 games including a huge win over city and a very good draw v everton, more impressive then our two one nil wins you could argue giving they are only promoted.

Thats if they are feeling pedantic with the united game being on the first of september

    Just stop.

This thread has been decent to read (albeit very slow ;)) in the last few weeks with out any in-fighting due to some positive results and signings. This does not however mean that all concerns have been eliminated and that posters should not still be entitled to air their concerns or love for the current setup.

Every fan/supporter in here wants the club to do well, it's not about point scoring.

Posts like the above are just kindling to start flaming again, cut out this sort of noise from the thread and the quality posts and news shine through that allow people to be more informed on what's going on in the club.

    Right

Just on the negative posts.. At the moment, there is no need for them.

We're top of the league, lets enjoy it.

I'm only commenting on this, because I noticed 5starrpool has been at it on a few occasions.

    Lets just get along.

For the sake of the children.

Off Topic but thought it was funny. SSN doing a piece on Real debuts 'cos of Bale.

McManaman - set up Morientes to equalize in game they went on to win 2-1

Beckham - scored in first 5 minutes of debut

Owen - came on for Raul and set up winner in 1-0 win

Woodgate - first game a year after signing, scored og and got sent off

These types of post are worse than any negative posts tbh. They add zero to the forum.

How is saying that the manager of the month thing is a curse a negative thing? It's not like I actually believe we are destined to lose because of it and go around with a rabbit's foot and some lucky heather.

I also don't believe in getting carried away and being realistic. If you think I'm a negative poster then I must be the most masochistic one out there due to the amount of money I spend supporting the team.

    Realistic != Negative
    also
Joking about a curse != Negative

i wish people would just allow people to say what they want with moaning about "negativity".

people are allowed to be negative if they damn well want. if you don't like what someone says, debate it or ignore it.

also, the idea that 5Star has been negative is hilarious. the Manager of the Month award has long been joked of as a "curse".

negative does not equal hating the club or not caring about the club. airing concerns about transfer strategies, the manager, the owners, etc does not mean a lack of love for the club. people may be wrong in their analysis of some of these things, but that's allowed. debate points you think are wrong, rather than just labelling stuff as negative and moving on.

    Monday can't come quick enough.

I think most people look at 5stars avatar and think 'this isn't going to be optimistic'

    Leave Eeyore alone!

I must admit though to not being a natural optimist, and years of Liverpool teams dashing my optimistic hopes have not changed that.

    Keep the positivity coming!!
Liverpool duo Brendan Rodgers and Daniel Sturridge have been named the Premier League manager and player of the month for August.

The pair have been rewarded for the Reds' 100 per cent start to the season, where they recorded back-to-back 1-0 victories over Stoke City and Aston Villa respectively.

Sturridge netted the winner in both of those games and has since extended his tally to five goals in four matches.

An ongoing groin problem prevented the 24-year-old from joining up with England but he is expected to be part of Rodgers' squad for Monday's trip to Swansea.

Rodgers has guided his side to the top of the Premier League and former Liverpool boss Gerard Houllier believes the Northern Irishman is the right manager to bring success back to Anfield.

"I like his philosophy because it goes well with the Liverpool culture," said Houllier. "I like his passing game and also their results this season. They're top of the league and I hope they can stay there for as long as possible.

"I was impressed by their solid resilience and team spirit. When you win 1-0 you can't say the result is easy; you've got to fight and they've showed they're capable of doing that."
Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers has revealed how he has managed Steven Gerrard's fitness to keep him at the peak of his game.

Gerrard, who is set to captain Liverpool for the 400th time in Monday's game at Swansea City, has been a virtual ever-present for Rodgers since he took over at Anfield last summer and he has been able to cope with the demands of playing for club and country so far in a busy start to the season.

The 33-year-old has been given a routine tailored to ensure he can his extend his playing career well into his 30s.

"You need to analyse the people and what age he is at and the body type he is," explained Rodgers.

"One of the biggest things in our method of work is the recovery method. Stevie for example plays on the Saturday, recovers on the Sunday doing pulls, stretch and massage, on the Tuesday recovers further with maybe a light jog. It's a long load of low intensity recovery. Stevie was fit enough to play Saturday, Tuesday and Sunday at the start of this season.

"He has moderate to low intensity recovery programmes. We have individual plans for every player in terms of getting them through the games."

"It's a long load of low intensity recovery. Stevie was fit enough to play Saturday, Tuesday and Sunday at the start of this season.."

Rodgers says he is happy to give his skipper time off where and when necessary because he knows he will be doing everything correctly to prepare for fixtures.

"It depends if you are a dogmatic coach and you think you always have to have the player out there," added Rodgers.

"Given the culture we have created here, the players want to be out training every day.

"Sometimes with the recovery, they'll feel they want to do a bit more. But the numbers have shown since we have come here that the methodology of our work physically, technically and tactically helps them on game day.

"They have bought into that and it's something they enjoy. As a manager it's your job to orchestrate and oversee that, that's why when I came in here I needed to bring my own people in as they know exactly what I think in terms of the whole holistic approach to the

I like the second quote more than the first!

I do like the individual plans for each player, means also that they are concentrating on improving those who need it while helping players with recovery.

Maybe his Rodgers guy might not be so bad after all. If we maintain position at the end of the next run of 5 games I wont be able to contain my optimism !

They really are just playing (or you could say leaning) into the perception that there is some sort of leaning fetish in melwood at this stage. They have taken ownership of the joke and seem to be turning it into a form of Planking.

Maybe Melwood is at a 45 degree angle, and you must lean to stop sliding out of shot?
