I'll agree with you OP it was indeed a conspiracy. No big cover ups, no planted charges.

It was simply a conspiracy planned and carried out by Bin Laden and his ill of terrorists.

    Point made and accepted.

    But a conspiracy to what?

This is my issue on either side of the argument. You can't just have a conspiracy; you must have a conspiracy to achieve something, no?

I was up driving a tower crane when it happened.

Always remember joe duffy crying on the radio (makes a change from his

callers). Job came to a stop, good few lads had worked over there or knew

someone who was working in New York at the time. Mad stuff.

To strike back against the great Satan (US).
What would be the point of the US doing it?

I remember I was in highschool then and I just came home and turned on tv. And saw the footage on the news of planes hitting the twin towers. And I was kind of like 'Are they showing a teaser of a new movie on the telly or something?'. And then I heard the comment. It was shocking.

Was it a conspiracy and an inside job? Who knows. If the government was to gain sth from it but can't imagine what that could be that would justify killing so many people.

Stuff like the guns laws are a separate issue and shoud be treated as such. However, the 911 conspiracy isnt entirely off the wall. In fact, I'd go so far as to call it the 21st century JFK. Whether one agrees with it or not is a different matter but it's certain that a lot of questions remain.

Where there's war there's profit. Not for economies but certainly for individuals and companies

Indeed, but tell me this. Is there a consortium of American defense CEO's, government officials and oil men who were already ridiculously wealthy who would sacrifice 3000 lives and the further lives of thousands more American troops so that they could quadruple or more their already enormous wealth? We all know Western CEO's couldn't give a **** about decisions that kill thousands in a poor country, but to effectively shut down and destroy Manhattan for months?

That none of these people would have imagined the possibility that a family member or friend would have either been in NYC or died in the following wars, or revenge attacks for the following wars?

If anyone else can cast their minds back to the run up to Gore vs Bush, a main concer, particularly in this country with the fragile state of the peace process, was that unlike Clinton, Bush would be a president who was insular and would barely have a foreign policy. As it turned out American politics wasn't more involved in foreign interests since Vietnam. Was the pre election talk of Bush being terrified of anything to do with parts foreign a smokescreen to convince reflecting doubters like myself?

    I don't see it myself.

it's not like the BBC have ever reported anything before it happened before... Such as an attack on Port Stanley by the Fleet Air Arm in the falklands war or anything like that.....

College SU, friend came in hysterically informing us WW3 had kicked off. Went to college bar where Sky News was on then went up computer labs on chat rooms for rest of the day. Remember CNN all the US websites down, BBC most reliable initially it was thought to be Palastine extremists

You'd almost swear that they had some prior "warning"

It can't have been a conspiracy to sacrifice 3,400 lives in order to claim a "justifiable" reason to spread democracy and central banking to non-compliant countries.

    It just can't.

For if it was the surely it would mean that "we" are the bad-guys....

Accident. Nothing to see here, folks. Move on...

I never suggested they planned it. I simply suggested that the aftermath is bound to have benefitted some people. War aways does.

I was in 2nd yr in school. My mam was ringing the house phone (from work) as I came in the door, she'd seen the 2nd plane hit live on tv.

I just sat glued to the tv for the afternoon, the same thing was on every channel. I remember turning on MTV (back when they played music) for some respite and they had a banner message saying to turn over to a news channel

I don't believe it was an inside job tbh, I believe it was the work of terrorists.

The world as we knew it changed forever that day.

Being a teenager at the time and at a time in teenage boy culture when the thinking is that crying is reserved for girls, gays and younger kids, I didn't cry. It was shocking, but I didn't remotely well up.

But if it happened today, I probably would. I even get a severe chill and hairs on the neck up re watching the likes of this

On reflection the conversion from the first few seconds of some muppet flogging whatever on what appears to be an infomercial to the beginning of the initially vague and confusing hours that changed the world forever is simply unbelieveable to think we lived through these times.

6th year, during English class at Sutton Park School - can't recall what we were learning.

Nevertheless, someone came into the room to tell our teacher what happened... and they both rushed out to watch the event in the Teacher's lounge.

I was in Crete, on my leaving cert holiday on a beach driving my moped around.

When we got back to the resort everyone was crowded around the tv, we stayed watching it all day (while drinking) and didn't even move

Why would I give a **** where any of ye were unless you were in the towers or general vicinity it is of no interest to the event at hand.

We didn't have a TV in our house yet and had some crappy ISDN connection which took about 500 years to load CNN.com, I was largely unaffected by it because we couldn't see what was going on as there was no tv/internet. I went to school the next day and in our first class, the teacher held a few minutes of silence. After that it was like any normal day. It was only until a few years later that I saw all the videos of the planes crashing etc.

Is it my memory or was the internet (on my ISP at least) ridiculously slow that night? As if every man woman and child with a computer was logged onto the 56K once it went past 6pm and the cheap rate came on, hunting for news.

To me the conspiracy has always been that they allowed these attacks to happen and conspired to apportion blame where they wanted it to fall. The finding of the passport and the almost immediate Bin Laden fingerpointing etc.
It's all part of an ongoing conspiracy to control and have influence in the strategically important Middle East. the current race to war in Syria being another example.

I think the buildings coming down suprised everybody, including the terrorists.

Regardless of conspiracies etc, a lot of people definitely died.

    May they rest in peace.

This is the freakiest thing about the whole day/week/years for me...just an image but you should check it out...and how it came about...

I was 10, friends mother dropped me back from school and my own mother ran out to tell her what was after happening, us kids all ran inside to see and they were showing the pentagon saying that was after being hit as well. I watched it the entire evening and had a few little cries that day and over the next few days, I remember being very upset at the picture of the the man in a suit carrying a briefcase and covered in dust.

I remember it all very vividly, it was the first news story I had any interest in, any documentaries, bulletins, newspapers anything 9/11 related I wanted to watch or read it, I wood beg my parents to buy me newspapers and magazines that had 9/11 stories in them. Which isn't normal behaviour from a 10 year old but I think I was quite affected by it. I think I lost some of innocence that day, the world became a scarier place and was well aware of it, Al Qaida, the war on terror, sellafield, iodine tablets etc.

I do think that there is probably some stuff relating to that day that the U.S. government hasn't disclosed for whatever reason but I don't think they were in anyway involved in the attack.

To kill americans and strike at heart of financial system in the US.

Not that it holds much weight but I was the one responsible for setting up the CT for and was its first mod. Ive obviously changed my views since then
