I was going to say I'd have to avoid Podtoid this week. Then I came to my sense and remembered they don't talk about video games. :pac:

Oh you're definitely not crazy. It's the little things that push a game from being good to great, and from great to being a game you can play for years.

I loved the sound doors made when you ran through them in IV... I loved the little music that played in the menus... I loved that you could call EMS and they'd actually show up...

Those are all inconsequential things, but they combine to make the entire experience so much better.

Podtoid, Jesus that's a word I haven't heard in a long time! Ha, amazing its still going!

But I agree about Rockstars attention to details. In all their games, RDR in particular, the subtle nuances take the games from being good games to great ones. From what I'm reading about the new game, it's been taken to new heights.

    MONDAY NIGHT

I will not be sleeping I can tell you that much!

The little things make all the difference, like the names the Cops call you when there chasing you or being able to stop for a soda while the police chopper looks for you :D

What I dont get is why are they charging people €65 for it, including myself, when they seem to be selling it for €60 on the day
just rang gamestop, their instore price is different to their online price. 65 for standard edition or 75 for the special edition will be going in tomorrow to upgrade myself! online they are both a fiver cheaper (no overheads i presume) i cant wait for this game so much i actually just want to spend the day looking at the spoiler thread!!!

as an aside how does one safely use the spoiler thing where it blacks out the words???oh hang on
my xbox may be broke before christmas due to this game just in time for xbox 1
(not an actual spoiler at all at all

The girl sitting next to me at work just asked me when does Winter start.

"Well, it's funny that you should ask...."

Am I crazy or are other people looking forward to the little things in GTA V. Like the tiny things, the font they'll use when place-names come up in the bottom right of the screen, the original tune that plays when the game loads up or the little noise you get when you finish a mission :o

I know exactly what you mean. I fell in love with Vice City the second I booted it up and the Commodore 64 opening screen loaded up with 'Video Killed The Radio Star' playing quietly in the background. Straight away I was back in the mid 80s. :D

I don't know about you but even seeing the TV advert is making me feel like a child waiting for Christmas :D This is feeling like the longest week ever knowing that's it so close now.

Hell no, heard two people with zero interest in gaming in general talking about it at work, the tv ads are on, there's a huge billboard near where I live, you'll probably see ads in the cinema soon for it. We're into waiting for Santa "can't this week just end!" territory now :D

Well had my first dream about the game last night, or more like a nightmare, dreamt it was the release day and was going into the shop to get it, was really excited and then the alarm went off for work, actually felt disappointed when I woke up.

I'm 28 and have a kid, woman, house, bike, car, neighbours cats, bills and more bills!

All Ive worried about the last 2 years is getting GTA 5 :) and my little man of course, who in time will be a GTA fan!

So the answer to your above statement is EH NO

Get a picture of your kid in front of the TV with the GTAV loading screen and a controller in his hands. Instantly viral. :pac:

YES!!! 32, and the same as above but kid x 2

However, I am like a little kid here reading up on this game. Apart from everything else...I really like the excitement this game is giving me. Someone mentioned it before but it is just Christmas as a kid...waiting for the big day to arrive :pac:

I know I have said this before but I am worried about peoples unrealistic expectations of the quality of the graphics in this game.

Remember, this is an aging console stretched to its limit in this game. In order to use such a large map with the level of detail they mention and with lots going on there will have to be corners cut.

I never trust early screenshots, especially those coming from the game producers themselves. The so called 'gameplay video' was cleverly edited with cutscenes throughout. To me most of the screenshots are from cutscenes rather than gameplay and will most likely have been 'touched up' for any anomalies.

While I am not saying the graphics will be bad, I am saying that from reading through this and other forums some people are going to be slightly dissapointed. This will be no Uncharted 2 in terms of graphics!

There was a scene in the multiplayer scene were some guys run up to the Los Santos Government building (I think) and hide behind cars in a shoot out before taking down a guy on the roof. It struck me at the time that the textures for the road and the building itself were quite poor.

Having said that, it will be a hell of a game and thats the important thing.

You're right, if you watch the multiplayer reveal fullscreen you can clearly see that the graphics fidelity is nowhere close to what the screenshots suggest.

That's not to say it doesn't look well, and won't be awesome. The screenshots and cut sequence footage just isn't possible on the current generation in my opinion, in a large open world game.

I was playing GTA IV recently and I had 4/5 stars and the FIB were after me in their trucks. A load of them came on screen at once and there was a very visible few jumps in the screen until I got out of there. I dont know if that is down to how the game was developed or the PS3 hardware...im assuming it was down to the game?

I can live with untextured roads on GTA online

I'm fully expecting IV type graphics and anything else will be a bonus.

However, having played IV on PC a lot over the last year is skewing my thoughts on what that should look like. Better boot up IV on the PS3 at the weekend, to help me remember :pac:

Id be happy with GTA IV level graphics...especially with the game being set in Los Santos...it'll be brighter and I think it'll look a lot better

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 34,788 ✭✭✭✭krudler

IV isn't exactly bad looking, even now, I think V looks perfectly fine, especially for a game this size on a 7 year old console. Long as it's a blast to play then any graphical shortcomings can be overcome, and some of the ingame stuff does look gorgeous to be fair, especially the countryside.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,009 ✭✭✭✭wnolan1992

I think I've said this before, but I'd be extremely happy with IV graphics with slight touch ups, namely lighting and character models. Anything above that is a bonus for me.

GTA IV on PS3 doesn't look very pretty in todays standards but I think a lot of that has to do with it being so dark, brown and grey. I turned Brightness in the in-game settings nearly up to full and it made it more bearable. Really looking forward to the brightness of San Andreas. If if it had the same graphics, will make the word much better to look at.

I think it's because any bit of external light gives the screen one shade of colour. Closing the curtains makes the picture sharper and more distinct.
