I took one of the Galway reservations guys- on behalf of whoever here wants it.
First to PM me gets it

(Looks like someone else nabbed the second one- its gone).
So- whoever wants a Galway reservation- PM me.

I hate this ****, it's like when you have to take a number in the tax office and your number 80 and some clown has taken 3 numbers earlier so they can act the hero to someone who comes in later.

The cloth seems very odd as an integral part of a relatively high tech floor washer. It's essentially a face cloth tied around the bottom with a piece of string. Surely there was a much better design alternative.
I had the same problem with it coming off but you just seem to have to close the tie as tight as you can around it.

Fine- I won't do it again if I see items coming available.
I thought it was a nice thing to do- and I've been lucky enough to be offered an item here in Bargain Alerts (the Netgear Router a few weeks back) when there weren't any left in Argos.

It is a dog-eat-dog world- and if you want everyone to fend for themselves fine- I thought it was a nice community gesture to ringfence one for someone not in time to get a reservation themselves.

    Turn that frown...

Surely it is better that someone on the thread gets it rather than some random non-Boardsie?

    hi guys,

just wanted to make sure - i resrved one in mahon in cork yesterday and my mother in law is making the trip to collect it.. will she definelty get the vax? i suppose worst case scenario she gets the one at the link.

btw - what is the actual saving on this? was it originally sold at 99 pounds in the uk, then reduced to 55? so we are getting it for under half price in argos?

in relation to anyone that has one - how many clothes does it come with ? are replacement clothes expensive? can you wash them in the washing machine? do you use any floor cleaner with it? like flash etc? how have you found it compared to traditional mopping?

we have tiles all downstairs in out house and i normally do the mopping but my wife has wanted one of these for a while..

If you were mopping a couple of rooms with it would you end up changing the cloth a few times?

    Cheers,
    Mick

She will get the Vax. If not she'll be the first not to on here. :)

Seems we are getting it at under the half price, but I have seens similar ones at much higher. Vax brand but different model at €90.

1 cloth comes with it and someone linked to replacements cloths on ebay that were cheap enough I think. Will have a look back for the link. You don't need flash or anything like that. Just fill the water bottle up and switch it on. The steam is what does the cleaning. It seems as if you can just bung them in the washing machine but not sure yet. I will most likely be putting it thru anyway.

Would easily get the whole house done on a cloth unless the floor is absolutely piggy dirty with caked in mud etc.

For the price of €32.99 you are getting a top brand steam mop. It's a fantastic bargain and comes with a 2 year warranty from manufacturer. Can't complain tbh.

For those who haven't bought it or opened it. It can be used on laminate flooring and on carpets. There's a glider in the box that you sit it into for carpets. In the booklet that comes with it, it says it's safe to use on lino, tiles and sealed wood flooring including laminate.

I've been having a look at this and I think adding a velcro strap leading from the middle of the front across the head to the back will fix the problem of the cloth coming off all the time.

Why bother with Velcro , pull the cord tight, the Velcro will prob come off with the steam.

Can't pull the cord any tighter, even after knotting it behind the toggle it's coming loose. Also the steam only comes out of the bottom plate, it'll be nowhere near the velcro (actually, why would steam affect velcro anyway?).

If any one comes across one for Dundalk could they reserve it and send me the code im keeping my eye on the check argos but might miss it thanks.

I've not had an issue with the cloth that came with mine. Not even pulled tightly tbh. Just looped over the bottom of plate and tightened a small bit. Hasn't slipped one bit.

Don't mean this as a smart reply or to cause offence but are you sure you have it on the right way? It's made to go on only one way, the string part should be at the back of the plate. Towards the person holding it. Just a thought cos it seems if you try put it on at a different angle it would be really loose on the sides. I really don't mean this paragraph to be insulting so please don't take it that way. I have across many people getting frustrated over the simple things that they just don't realise and may need pointing out.

I grabbed that last one reservation for the Portlaoise. Any boardsie who needs one from there can have it.

Because the Velcro is stuck on with adhesive, you must have a doggy one :-)
