gradually replacing wooden gate posts with proper galvanised ones, put one down in concrete last week and made gap into a 15ft one was 10ft, took the 10 ft gate away today and hung the 15 ft gate, the 10 ft gate was way heavier than the 15 ft one

I replaced a 12ft gate with a 15ft gate at the weekend. Hung the new gate on a railway track girder. 6ft in the ground, 5ft above ground. Its some job. around the girder in the hole is about 1/2 meter of concrete, loads of large auld stones and nicely finished off about the top. ill up up the far side this weekend and it will see me out :D

Same here, I bought the 15ft heavy duty a lot cheaper than the 16ft standard.

and its a straight through gate and only increased width as im putting in a new cattle handling and crush area "sometime"

The girder was here, I had no gas to cut it or a consaw and well I have a mini digger, so cheaper to dig than take the track to get cut. she wount move anyway.

    * when I moved here that same 11ft girder was holding a 10ft light gate. I pulled it up in June out of the ground and thought it was coming from OZ

What price are the gates Whelan?

    I need 3 or 4 12ft

    and 3x 10fts for a crush area

and need one gate 10ft with the handle with the spring on it as a backing gate for loading the crush

About 15 yrs ago he called here with a (Trailer base of a caravan) full of gates. There was a flat wheel on the trailer he was selling them cheap. There was 20 gates on it and I offered him 200 pound. He got fierce insulted and jumped into the van to drive away and reddened the clutch. He took the money and left the trailer and all. I still have them all bar one which got wrapped around a jeep that shouldnt have being in the yard.

Vino (house warming present) is going down well, I'm blaming Whelan's past posts, the power of suggestion.

You can attach them directly from your computer if you click the "manage attachments" button below where you type a reply (as long as you're not using quick reply I think).

Click the "choose file" button top left of the pop up screen. Once you know the name of the image you want, and what folder it's located in on your computer you'll find it easy enough.

Click the "upload" button on that pop up screen after you have selected your image, then when you see that's been uploaded go down the bottom of the pop up screen and click "close this window".

Submit your message as normal and your image file will appear as a link at the bottom of your post.

The other way is to use an image hosting site like Photobucket or similar but I'm a bit too delicate to explain that process right now :D
