If you go to Personalise under settings it is possible to add widgets to your lockscreen on Sense. Its not as flexible as AOSP lockscreen but it is there.

as for your bootloader, all I can say is make sure you copied the right bit of text onto the site.

Yeah, I have that, but it doesn't look as nice, and the Google calendar shows different colours on the screen, where the HTC calendar doesn't. The main issue is the battery life. From reviews, standby time seems to be better on the standard Google Play ROM. It's much easier to flash a Samsung, I think.....

I have no experience with Samsung but you should have seen the hoops I had to jump through to flash a rom on my One X....

On the S3, it was basically just download the ROM image, flash it with Odin, and it was done. Very easy. I can understand there being some issues with custom roms, but it should be straightforward to flash a different rom from the same hardware to another device (ie Google Play One to the regular GSM One)

When you unlock your bootloader and flash the custom recovery there is no problem flashing roms on the ONE. Just download the zip from XDA and flash it.

    Cheers, I'll try again later.

On a related note, is there a difference between unlocking a bootloader and S-Off?

I think if your phone is S-OFF then you don't need to bother with unlocking the bootloader. Being S-OFF also allows you flash firmware and radio updates.

So you have 3 different things that can be updated. The Rom, The Firmware and the Radio. Unlocking the bootloader will allow you install a custom recovery and then you can install new Rom's.
If you are S-OFF then you can also update the Rom but you can also flash the Firmware and Radio. These are basically like updating the drivers for the hardware. So a radio update could increase your signal or make WIFI more stable...

So I should just need to unlock the bootloader, and I would be able to flash the standard HTC One Google Play edition rom?

****e, messed it up! I was reading the wrong tutorial and I flashed a boot.img file, rather than the zip file so now I'm stuck in a boot loop. I can get into the fastboot. Know anywhere I can get a stock RUU file?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 702 ✭✭✭bennyob

I downloaded the update this morning but after installation, the phone wont restart. It is stuck on the quietly brilliant screen. After pressing the power button for 10 seconds, it stalls at the same screen.

When I connect the phone to my pc by the usb cable, it restarts and again gets stuck on the quietly brilliant screen. This loop continues.

My phone is not rooted. Anyone have any ideas on how to fix this?

Bah, getting nowhere with this. Going to just pop into Fonemenders tomorrow. Hopefully, they can flash there.

did you have a recovery flashed? You should be able to get to fastboot regardless of what image you flashed.

I can get into the Fastboot alright, but abd won't pick up the device half the time. I didn't have a recovery flashed, hadn't gotten that far in the guide before I messed up.

try different usb ports and make sure you're using the data cable that came with the phone..that makes a big difference on whether it gets picked up or not.

Try using Hansoons's all in one tool and see if that can work..worth a shot before giving it to fonemenders.
Its the best way to root/install recovery onto your phone.

If i was to flash a rom onto my HTC one can it be removed afterwards with out a trace? I was caught out recently when I returned my galaxy S3 into Fonemenders for repair and they found that the counter had counted one custom rom installation.

I assume your using the fastboot commands when in fastboot mode right?

    As in
    fastboot devices

    instead of
    adb devices

The problem with this is that the RUU works with adb I believe. Can you boot into recovery?

It can be restored completely to stock and the tamper flag can be reset also. I won't go into the details but they can be found online. But you would need to have your phone in a workable state to restore it.

Hey guys I got my htc one today, everything runs fine just one prob cropped up with my mobile Internet,

When turning on mobile net (see attached photo ) it immediately goes into "disconnected" (immediately, it won't turn on at all!)

I do have credit and an Internet plan plus it's the same sim from my previous phone it should at least switch on (the mobile net) but it would even do that! The mobile net worked perfectly on my previous phone...plus every feature so far , wifi, calls, apps, texts etc work on the Htc one so its just the mobile net..

So how can I fix this? Is there a setting I'm missing or which?

    Thanks :)

Google your network provider and APN for the settings, and instructions. Some of them have configurators where you can choose your phone, and possible get a text with the settings, although they're usually pretty crap.

Guys, sometimes in my HTC one I do not get notification of email arrival I.e. sound notification and visual notification on email homescreen (where it shows 1, 2, 3, emails on the envelope).
Other times I do get notifications. Can't work it out. I have no apps to silence notifications st particular times and notification settings appear to be correctly set for my two email accounts.
I can see the emails no prob when I go into email it just I was not notified they were there. Interestingly when I go into email it does not show them as new emails ie with the yellow banner. Any suggestions? Thanks

I've had a similar problem with a desire s a few weeks back. Disable the email notifications and then re-enable them fixed it for me.

If its the gmail app it might be because they are social or promotions emails which aren't set to give notifications.

Really? I can delete multiple threads or multiple messages within a thread easily enough on the One X (with upgrade HTC Sense 5.0 as of Tuesday)

I don't know what you are doing but I can do it on mine. I can delete multiple threads or multiple messages within a thread by selection

Ordered my One yesterday, SMS from courier says it'll arrive in a few hours! Can't wait.

I read on the online user manual that it needs a full charge before turning it on. Any tips on how to contain myself til it's charged? :)

Guys theres a lot of misinformation on here regarding unlocking bootloader, s-off, flashing ROMs/radios/firmware.

Go to xda developers for info on this stuff, plenty of people there who can help.

That's a load of bollocks, you dont need to condition li-po. Just use the phone and charge before its flat.

When you are on the message screen just click on the options/settings button in the top right hand corner of the screen (the one that looks like 3 dots stacked ontop of each other and appears on most screens) and "delete threads" is the very 1st option. After selection this option you can now tick which threads you want to delete and bingo u can work it out from there.

Yeah, I kinda agree with you, but I was just going by the htc quick start guide.
