I remember paying €600 odd quid for mine too, jeez those were the days. It's an unthinkable amount of money to drop on a card these days for me. Lasted about 8 years or so

You can put them in the oven and get extra life out of them, not that it matters now!

Not a card, but I remember paying almost €1500 with a student grant for a new pc just before Hl2 and Doom3 came out. (had my priorities right! :pac)

PCs really were bloody expensive years ago.

Poor mans reflow :D Yeah with 768MB ram it really wasn't up to modern games, so the upgrade is really welcome. 2GB of gfx ram from the HD7870 though, yus!

I spent €2000 on a 200mhz pentium pc, 8mb of ram, I think it had a 2gb hdd, not sure now, it was in 96!
It was all about 3d but the whole world shifted on its axis when Mario 64 arrived.

Great news: Got a new TV. Flipped a coin between a 42 inch plasma and a 39inch led. Came home with the LED. Picture is unreal sharp and its a very pretty ornament :D

Bad news: The tv is giving me motion sickness when anything other than slow moving PS3 games/movies or the wii is on. Tried everything I could (turning off clear motion etc) but nothing works. Everything has this stutter to it. Calibrated using a HD calibrator and the blacks still crush for no reason and whites are mental hard to get right :(

Never had this with the housemates 42 inch LED or my 27 inch cheapo LCD or any of my friends 32inchers. Must be something to do with this 100hz motion nonsense. Called into soundstore and they said bring it in. Wonder if I can get the plasma instead because my eyes are litterally burnt out of thier sockets but the tv comes in a perforated box meaning you have to tear the fecking thing to open it the right way around.

    oh well.

Anyone ever get sick from watching BBC news or playing demons souls? it fecking sucks. housemates can see the stutter but say its normal that they can notice it but its not affecting them. Wonder if its the leds dimming for blacks or something.

    Jebus
that's a real pain given how much thought you put into the TV.
Perhaps Google the issue, perhaps there's a fix or a firmware update that can help?

As for new stuff, I got Donkey Kong Jr, Zaxxon and Looping today, they arrived in work and look add pretty as a picture, only problem is the Colecovision is still acting up, think it's a power issue, internal. Kerbdog can do no more so I'll have to seek help elsewhere.

Still waiting for the wonderful Mario rpg for the Snes, of course it'll be added to the pile of games to be played as soon as possible, so some time before 2017 seems doable!

What make is the TV? Samsung sets have a 'Game Mode' in one of the menus (think it isn't in the 'Picture' menu for some reason) which turns off all image processing.

Got paid today and already spent my gaming budget :P

Ordered the Game chasers DVD with the random game perk
Ordered a PS1 game from ebay
    Ordered Rule of Rose
    And got a wii mini.

All in all spent about €90 which isn't too bad.
