You have to hand it to the Celtic scouting team, they keep finding good quality players at value prices.
Really do, doing a great job there recently, Youd have to imagine if they were in a stronger league theyd make great money at ala Porto.
Even at that they still doing ok

I would really like to see Pukki or another striker join, we need more options up front imo, Bitan looks good and at a great price.
Disaster Group, but in fairness, gives glamour to our group stage, its going to be an exciting group. With a huge chance to shine given to the lads who play.
As seen with wanyama and hooper, a good day against the better teams which we will have every match can be a serious boost to a players worth and career.
Could get over Lennon almost banging his head on the table when the group was annouced. And Scott Brown breaking his bollocks laughing, hilarious stuff!

Pukki currently having his medical according to SSN

    EDIT

Lennon's court case about using a mobile phone whilst driving was thrown out today. He's walking on water at the moment :pac:

Oh get over yourself, it was a bit of humour.
I can think of a blogger or two who would have been claiming such things if he had been done for it though.

If we are going down that road, why was a case even brought to court without sufficient evidence? Terrible observance of procedures or just to get Lennon bad publicity?

Cases get thrown out on a regular basis, be it through administration errors or changes in evidence.
Cases like this are notoriously hard to prove.

And to be honest, I wasn't particularly aiming for an in depth discussion of scots law, just simply making a joke.

oh so its humorous when you do it and obsession when its us. I'l remember that for the future, perhaps when I'm making the observation that while you're playing a scottish challenge cup game against queen of the south, celtic will be in milan

How do you rate Ki Sung-Yueng, lads? He's supposed to be joining us on loan over the weekend and you'd obviously be a lot more familiar with him than I would. Cheers.

Tidy player, good passer of the ball, a little bit lightweight when he was with us. I always felt he wasn't suited to the rough and tumble of the SPL but I think he's a real talent.

Surprised he's being allowed leave Swansea as in the few games I saw of theirs last season he looked good. Played out of position a few times last year too.

The Lord Advocate is willing to take cases to court regularly with insufficient evidence especially high profile people? I call bull**** tbh or they are useless at their job.

Anyways, I saw the joke, found it humorous but you went into tin foil hat mode immediately when someone didnt find it funny, even more humorous!

Good passer but often casual on the ball when a high tempo is required, I dont think he reacts well enough to danger. All depends how he is used, does very well in a 5 man midfield with an holding midfielder behind him.

"Us" is Sunderland am I right?

Don't rate him. He's a nice footballer, was a big hit in South Korea and has won loads of caps for them. Swansea are willing to loan him out answers your question I think.

The Lord Advocate wouldn't have been involved I don't think it would have been a low level case for the procurator fiscal and I can assure you there work can be very shoddy

Thanks lads. Yep ''us'' is Sunderland, I should have clarified.

One reason Swansea are willing to loan him is that Laudrup doesn't get on with him at all (according to Korean press), but yeah, he seems to be right down the pecking order now with the arrival of Shelvey and Canas, although he did make almost 40 appearances for them last year.

We have no one in our side who can get on the ball in the middle of the field and spray it quickly to our wide men or a ball in behind the opposition to split their defence, so I'm hoping he can provide that.

It looks like he will be mainly deployed in a 4-4-2 though, with Cabral (a defensively minded player) most likely to play alongside him. Will he get exposed in a 4-4-2?

Either way, I'm 99% sure he will be better than the other dross we have in that position so he should improve us.

Never rated him either. Couldn't believe the amount Swansea were willing to pay at the time for one of our squad players

Ki isn't the type of player to drive forward. He will sit deep enough, look to get on the ball and pass it. I rate him. Very good technique, great passer with good vision and has a nice shot on him.

I reckon he got a hard time with some of the Celtic support, he probably wasn't suited to the SPL but there's no denying his ability. His best games for Celtic was in the 4-5-1.

At Celtic when playing 4-4-2, he usually was beside someone like Brown or Ledley. They arent defensively minded players (although they are good defensively), the ball goes forward, they go forward so you'd often have scenarios where Celtic have pushed on and there is nobody sitting in front of the back line. Now most times Celtic didnt get caught out but in a stronger league it gets punished. He's not terrible defensively, he does get back and help out but tackling players isnt his strong point. Himself and Cabral should work well together in a 4-4-2

I disagree with you there, he follows the ball forward much like Brown or Ledley did/do. When we play it around the backline, he'd be sitting deep enough alright

You'd never see him go forward much. Look at his goals for Celtic, mostly all long range piledrivers. He likes to sit back and be in a position to receive it.

Being on the edge of the opposition penalty area on a regular basis and trying to angle a run into the box is what I'd call getting forward. He does like shooting from range too.

    I disagree there!

He is a deep lying player. He doesn't carry the ball forward, he will play it wide most of the time. He's never in the box and is not on the edge of the area on a regular basis.

New striker signed, medical ran late so we were up all night to get Pukki!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,351 ✭✭✭magherakid

Celtic starting XI: Forster, Lustig, Ambrose, Van Dijk, Izaguirre, Matthews, Brown, Ledley, Boerrigter, Commons, Stokes

Celtic subs: Zaluska, Balde, Rogic, Mouyokolo, Atajic, McGeouch, Herron

Teemu Pukki on signing for Celtic "This is a big opportunity for me and I'm really happy to be here."

"It was quite a long day yesterday so I am really tired at the moment but I'm really happy to be here."

"Before playing for Finland against Slovenia I heard the manager was coming to the game & I wanted to play well and show my skills."

"Of course, I was thinking that this would be a good place for me. I want to win the championship & it'll be great to play in CL."

On Celtic's CL group: "I was a little bit scared and excited at the same moment. It will be a great experience."

"It's my job to score goals and I want to show them I can do it."

We'll have to agree to disagree on how far forward he can get during matches :D My main gripe with him is defensively without the ball and when we were chasing games.

    http://sport.stv.tv/football/clubs/celtic/237964-celtic-in-talks-with-manchester-united-over-alexander-buttner-loan/
Celtic are in discussions with Manchester United over the possibility of taking Netherlands under-21 Alexander Buttner on loan for the season.

He'd be a good signing, good going forward but defensively suspect aswell i think, we badly need direct competition for Izaguirre so I hope it happens.
