Spare a thought for the u19s!
    Scott Struthers ™ ‏@scottsas 1m

Don't forget every #UCL group has an identical u19 competition with the games the night before or afternoon of main game
    Stuart Findlay ‏@stuartfindlay95 3m

In terms of the youth tournament it is probably even harder!!

    1806:
    MIXED EMOTIONS FOR LENNON

Celtic manager Neil Lennon on their group of Barcelona, AC Milan and Ajax: "I think it's the best and the worst draw we could have got!

"In terms of glamour it doesn't come any better but it's the most difficult we could have got. There's a lot of excitement. The hard work was done last night and we can enjoy it now. In terms of travelling for supporters it's great.

"Three great footballing arenas with fantastic pedigree. Locking horns again with Barcelona, there's so much to savour. It's going to be extremely difficult.

"In terms of attracting players, the quality players we are looking for, it's been a really difficult summer. We are in the Champions League again though and it adds to the reputation of the club."

Brilliant draw, some big nights in store.

In terms of "Big Match" potential, that is one of the best draws Celtic could hope for.

Lawwell's eyes will be doing that Cartoon dollar sign thing right now...

Tough group but they always are when you're in pot 4. Great games to look forward to but a pity to get teams we're so familiar with.

Should be no issues motivating the players for the games and the atmosphere in Celtic Park will be amazing.

It would have been nice to get Real Madrid in the draw because it's so long since we played them in Europe, but we can always meet them in the knockout stages I suppose.

We played them last summer and Dylan McGeouch ran rings around them to the point where they broke his jaw to stop him! :pac:

    EDIT

    Celtics Twitter
NL: "We have got Biton more or less in the bag and he will come into the squad and that will galvanise us and freshen things up."
NL on Teemu Pukki: "I think we are close. He is a good player and we would be pleased to get that one done."

City had that lad Biton on trial last year I think, and by all accounts he's quality.

    Not happy with that draw.

Barca will be out for revenge and we've played them too many times now in recent years.
Milan and Ajax will be a serious test.

We will be doing very well to get 4/5 points if we're being honest. At least the players will take encouragement from last season.

They did and played in a few preseason games for them and trialled at Spurs too i think

Looked at a few youtube videos and he looked very good and surprising good feet for someone 6' 5". Maybe abit slow or slight for those EPL clubs, not sure why they didnt take a punt on him. Was there anything said at the time why they didnt pick him up?

I'm guessing it was likely that it was either him or Garcia and we opted for Garcia.

I didnt think he'd be straight into the first team squad tbh

    Done abit of digging myself

    http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2190897/Nir-Biton-set-Tottenham-switch-ahead-Manchester-City.html
The 6ft 4in midfielder, considered the next Yaya Toure, for his size and box-to-box dynamism, has returned to Israel but is expected back at City soon, provided delicate discussions with the military authorities can be successfully completed.

‘Nir is only due to finish his IDF service later this year, but we are ready to begin negotiations about that,’ said agent Dudu Dahan. ‘We will speak with the IDF, so that Nir will be able to leave for Manchester in the next two weeks. This is a great opportunity for him.’

Military Service seems to have been the issue. If that was the deal breaker when City & Spurs tried to sign him, I'm very happy! Not even Scott Brown will mess with him! :pac:

Dave probably had the same. Compulsory in Korea too.

Dave never did his, it was hanging over him when he was at Celtic but after Korea's performance in the Olympics all players involved were given exemption

I'm aware its compulsory, didnt realise he was doing it whilst playing professional football last year.

Dave got exemption when S.Korea medalled in the Olympics

Think the IDF draft you when you finish school whereas S. Korea can call you up anytime before your 30 or something. Not 100% sure. It was hanging over Dave for a while and one of the reasons Celtic were wary about renewing his contract before the exemption

    Inside The SPFL ‏@AgentScotland 3h

Nir Biton completed his medical, Celtic now just awaiting formality of their work permit application £675k - 4 year deal - no sell on clause

A good deal, glad the sell on clause didnt get in there. Cant wait to see this guy in action. We'll probably have to wait because all our new signings seem to get injured before they can actually play for us!

    EDIT

Signed, looking forward to seeing him in the hoops!
    Celtic Football Club ‏@celticfc 1m

Celtic are delighted to announce that Israeli internationalist Nir Biton has signed for the club on a four-year deal. (PC)

I take it Biton is signed as a replacement for Wanyama, as in he's a Wanyama type - athletic and versatile.

    CL fixtures in article below.

    http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/23869184

Should see plenty of Celtic coverage on RTE and TV3 for the CL this season. Celtic are in the most exciting Group, the Group of Champions. They also play on opposite nights to RTE's favourite Man United.

Been compared to Yaya Toure when he was linked with Man City. Here's some youtube video of him in action

Hopefully they do a small bit of research before the games so they at least know the positions of the players.

Good to see Biton signed up, looks a decent signing from the little I've seen. Hopefully we can get another few signings in before the SFA transfer window stupidly closes tomorrow

Does anyone know how much Biton cost?

    Looks a player.

According to the source I posted last night, "£675k - 4 year deal - no sell on clause".

Officially, an undisclosed fee which suggests there is add ons of some description to me.

    EDIT

He was in his last year of contract and most other source were saying prices of less than £1m aswell so yea, it looks like we have gotten another bargain!

You have to hand it to the Celtic scouting team, they keep finding good quality players at value prices.
