Celtic manager Neil Lennon tells bbcsportsound that he could make two new signing by Tuesday or Wednesday.

NL on signing a striker: "Hoping to get one done over next couple of days

NL: "Another player's representatives are in on Mon. so hoping to get another deal done for another player - a midfielder"

Those signings are no good to us in the UCL qualifier though

I think Virgil van Dijk looks solid and will improve once he settles. I think him and Mulgrew should play against shakhter karagandy.

Just fyi lads, Wednesday's game is on RTÉ 2 HD.

Hoping we have a packed house, if there's any game we need the crowd behind the team, this is the game. Most important game of the season without doubt.

Want Balde to start, he looked much closer to scoring on Sat than he has before.

Wouldnt let him go for anything less than 7 mill

I think we should possibly look at making a move for Chris Baird,Available on a free,A solid Centre Half who can play right back and midfield could be a very good option for us.

Pavel Pogrebnyak could be worth a look too as he is unsettled at Reading..

If Celtic get into the UCL, they wouldnt sell him.

Drop into the EL, I'd say it would still take a ridiculous offer, £10m+ to tempt Celtic.

It would complete the butchering of the squad though and all the directors would be guaranteed their bonuses no matter what happens this season. Fairly uncomfortable with the way Celtic have gone about their business this summer, poorly managed imo.

I agree. I think it's bad form and poorly managed by Celtic that Benfica are making bids for our goalkeeper 2 days before our biggest game of the season.

Yeah we've really dropped the ball this year on the transfer front, I can imagine it's not easy to attract players to the SPL but we should have held onto the players sold until replacements were signed.

Letting Wilson & Hooper leave before replacements were found could well backfire badly on the board.

Celtic cant control that and we are doing to the same to Schalke over Pukki

Celtic are not controlling their transfer business properly at all of late. Celtic should not be selling players without replacements lined up. If they sell Forster will they have time to get an adequate replacement, when does the transfer window close?

If we miss out on UCL qualification I wouldn't mind seeing Forster go. He's been shaky of late and I'd be dubious that we'd receive as good an offer again. He was great for us last season but he's not a long term solution in my opinion, I know a lot of fans mightn't agree with me, but if they don't turn around the result on Wednesday then it might be the best time for him to go.

To be honest i would agree with you for different reasons though,I think Forster is a quality keeper,He would prob make the starting 11 in most EPL teams,he is young & English which is always a plus in the market......I think he is a top drawer keeper but we need to cash in on players when the bids come in,We cant run the risk of him having 1 or 2 mediocre seasons and having no transfer value i.e Izzy

We are a selling club so when the money comes in just let them go,Who would be a good replacement though? Shay Given if wages could be overcome would rather get someone younger with some sell on value but Given could be a good stop gap

In the cases of Izzy & Kayal, its serious injuries that hindered their progression. I see no need to sell Forster unless he indicates he wants to go and I'd be surprised if he decided that at this stage of the season tbh. English players wanting to play on the continent is rare enough.

Shay Given is well past it, injury prone and picking up a big wage. Definitely not much better than Zaluska at this stage. Sick of being linked with Irish players that wouldnt improve our squad tbh.

Would hate to see him go tbh, CL or not. Excellent keeper, and his poor form of late is more down to our dreadful defending rather than him tbh. I don't think it's fair for him to take the blame for that. It's hard to judge a keeper's performance when the two defenders in front of him are chopping and changing every game.

As Prop Joe said I'm worried that he will become another Izzy. I don't think that can be attributed is to injury, you don't forget the basics of defending unless it's a severe bang on the head. I don't really want Forster to go, if it was an ideal world I'd have him between the sticks up until he was forty if he remained good enough. But the truth is he will move when the right move comes his way. The question is will the club have got as much out of Fraser Forster as they can when that move comes?

I'd be happy with taking a gamble on a young keeper who is showing some promise. Sign him for very little (compared to Forsters selling fee) and develop him well. If it fails we still have Zaluska as back-up.

According to the Schalke Manager Celtic is in negotiations with Schalke for Teemu Pukki.

We've been knocking on that door for a while, they wont do a deal until after their 2nd leg.

Also, Joe Ledley is in his last year of contract and he's talking about how important getting to the UCL is. He could be flogged yet!

how does everyone think the qualifier is going to go??
    I'm dreading the match.

whether we qualify or not the squad is in dire straits. Everyone's always banging on about Celtics buy cheap develop and sell on strategy, which is well and good but the board seem to think that they don't need to spend money. its not as if they can claim they don't have it. To summarise I'm Absolutely sick to death of this transfer window.

I reckon we'll win the game, my worry is we'll concede an away goal that will cost us.

I think we've tried to follow the same transfer policy but for whatever reason we haven't been able to get our targets. My issue with this transfer window is that we shouldn't have been selling players until the replacements were signed.

Added to that is Sami & Ledley's contracts running down and going out of the CL on Weds could see us struggling to tie them up.

We're walking a tightrope at the moment that could determine the direction the clubs goes over the next few years and due to bad scouting/penny pinching or just bad luck the odds seem to be against us.

I think if we can get a goal in the first half without conceding we'll go through from there. He'll have to pick the right team with the players available to him. Mulgrew at center half and Balde and/or Stokes up front if fit.

Transfer window close on Monday Sept 2nd.

Celtic have been reactive this summer rather than proactive, which is never good. UCL success means that clubs are holding out for bigger transfer fees from Lawwell and I believe he's bottled alot of deals because he wouldnt risk it when UCL football wasnt guaranteed.

Ledley & Samaras have indicated that they want to stay, why havent they been tied up? I dont even think negotiations for either player have even started!

Hard to see us keeping a clean sheet on Wednesday. I think we'll win the match but possibly lose the tie. We could be 3-0 up and still get sunk by a late goal. We have a load of injuries whilst they got to rest their first team again. It will be a great comeback to win this outright regardless of the quality of the opposition, because of how little they have to do to win it outright.

If true it's easy to see why we didn't follow up our initial interest, we're not going to go anywhere be £10m for a player

Yep, think we'll win the game alright, but it's 50/50 as to whether we win the tie. One single goal from them and we're toast imo, we'd need 4 then. We'll need to score early though, if it gets to half an hour in and we're still at 0-0 (or worse lol), then any hope of us qualifying is gone imo.

As for transfers, I don't think it's realistic to only sell when we have actually signed replacements. What I do think is realistic though is to have a much more robust list of possible replacements for each player sold, and long before they are sold. As said before, we've known about Hooper for at least 6 months, and more like a year really. I don't like the way we seem to have only 2 or 3 possible names, and then seem to be stuck in the mud when we are priced out, or a club decide not to sell. We need to be much better at dealing with these situations. It's not like we haven't been here before ffs.

Swapping centre backs around all the time is also a fcuking disaster waiting to happen tbh. I know it's easier said than done, but Lenny should stick with one proven CB for a while (even if that's Mulgrew) while he figures out which of Ambrose, Van Dijk and Mouyokolo is our best option for CB. We're leaking goals at the moment and imo not having any form of a settled CB pairing is a big part of that.

Big big game tonight. Definitely capable of turning the tie around despite an underwhelming transfer window thus far.

I see NL has turned the heat up a little talking about them bring disrespectful to Celtic hopefully this along with the GB being back in 111 will keep the decibel levels high and cause them to cack the togs.

    Hail hail

    Edit:
Cant believe it only Tuesday. Doh

Aye, have the young lads granny minding him tomorrow so I can see the match in the pub.

Would have been an awkward phone call if I was still expecting her to show up this evening
