Rockstar had GTAForums remove all spoiler/leaks talk, so you can still browse that website and not have the game ruined for you. How many more sleeps until its released?:pac:

Hi guys, just an update on the hacking progress (spoiler free!)

Good news, basically it was only the audio that were leaked. Everything else is encrypted, and even though brute force attempts are being made it's pretty much impossible to crack anything else without the encryption key. The key is stored in an executable encrypted by Sony themselves, so there's not a hope of that being leaked unless a game disk is leaked. So we're pretty much safe for now until a store employee gets their hands on a console disk. Even then it's still going to take time.

Now for the bad news, a lot of weazel news radio was leaked, so it may be possible for the general theme of the game to be leaked, but there won't be any gameplay videos or new pictures. The loading music was also part of the music leak.

However, Rockstar have been busy at work, removing all links/music/leak discussion - everything from various forums and whatnot. So the situation is pretty much under control at the moment. Worst case scenario you accidentally come across a song or news bulletin, so it's not too bad.

So at least yous don't have to hide from the internet now, and CMpunked can be a mod again ;)

So does that mean that the "final mission" dialogue leak was a load of crap?

Yep, it was just music and some random encounters, as well as weazel news.
As far as I know no mission dialogue as been leaked.

Rockstar have done a great job of removing everything, I was actually really surprised when I checked a few places today, gta forums is completely clean, as well as youtube, and loads of download links for the audio are gone too.

Now the names of some of songs on the radio are still easy enough to find, but that's not that big of a deal. Basically you're not going find anything unless you try hard, and even then there's nothing much - certainly not in the way of major mission spoilers.

Whether or not someone compiles all the weazel news reports to piece everything together still remains to be seen - but we're not getting anything more than that audio file. The preload was even pulled from the ps store.

Here's all the weazel news from gta iv, so you can get an idea of what to expect in the worst case scenario.

Having said that, anything that goes up there will be immediately pulled, rockstar are watching! :)

Playing gta 4 getting well psyched for V. I just hope they have L1 as aim and R1 as shoot this time.

    Same here! :)

My game is a bit messed up though, I can only play for about 15 mins before my audio goes and it freezes on whatever sound was being played at that time.

I still use the classic controller layout though (for driving mainly) should really get used to the new one before V

Will everyone that has preordered GTA V get the blimp dlc or is this just in the €129.99-149.99 collectors edition?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,401 ✭✭✭Royal Irish

    Everyone that pre-orders gets it.

Classic mode made a huge difference to the driving. Shooting with l2 and r2 is just crap.

I really don't know how they will implement buttons in V though. I think directional buttons are used for switching characters, but how will you change weapons and radio stations?

Weapon wheel similar to red dead redemption, hold l2/r2 (i forget) and use analog stick to change weapon. I presume the opposite analogue stick will be used for radio stations.

Soooo, if you were to go on a three week holiday just before GTA V is released, what do you do?

    A. Bring your console with you, buy the game for €75 in said country and play it on release and risk the wrath of your OH.

I'm ashamed to say I did this for GTA San Andreas launch.... Was well worth it.

Just forewarn the OH and buy her something shiney.

I really hope they don't get rid of shooting with RT (R2) just because PS3 people have crap controllers. :P

I always found aiming and squeezing the trigger to fire a well placed shot between someone's eyes. It felt even better during the executions.

Yeah I actually don't mind shooting with r2, it feels like a real trigger. l1+r2 is fine for me, just don't like driving with it.

I'm sure they'll have different controller layout profiles though, can't see why not.

It takes a little while to get used to. X on SA was accelerate but it was break on the newer layout. It just takes some getting used to at first. Nothing to do with the controller.

what does it mean when a game "goes gold"? I'm hearing this about GTA V
it's on the gtav.net home page

The "classic" layout has x as accelerate right? ...that's the one I'm used to I think. It's r2 with the newer one I think.

You can change it anyway in settings in gta iv, as I'm sure you'll be able to for V

Yep. You can change it back, but I stuck with the new layout. It just took a while to break the habit of X being accelerate. Now, I dont have any issues with it but on my first play I got busted/killed so many times due to the change.

There wasn't much point in changing though, using classic mode you weren't allowed free aim.

Meaning you had to solely rely on the gimped auto lock-on, also making things like head shots impossible. Don't know why they couldn't have implemented free aim for both modes.

Going gold usually means that it has sold 1 million copies :)

Oh and for those somehow blaming R* for the leaked content (hopefully ironically), Sony have issued an apology for it! :)
Regrettably, some people who downloaded the digital pre-order of Grand Theft Auto V through the PlayStation Store in Europe were able to access certain GTA V assets. These assets were posted online. We have since removed the digital pre-order file from the PlayStation Store in Europe. We sincerely apologize to Rockstar and GTA fans across the world who were exposed to the spoiler content. GTA V is one of the most highly anticipated games of the year with a very passionate following, and we’re looking forward to a historic launch on September 17

I wonder why they would use different levels of encryption on the game, did they want people to be able to hack parts of it? folks If you don’t want to risk spoilers I’d still be careful where I’d look online, from what I saw they have hacked dialogue for some missions, heck I even found a PDF of someone who started to transcribe it. Obviously it’ll be a few weeks before we know how accurate some of the info out there is, but I’ve come across some pretty big storylines/spoilers without looking that hard. If it’s in anyway accurate it’ll definitely be an amazing game though!!
