Prob an obvious question but how do I access the internal memory on the One..downloaded a music file but cant find it?

There apps like Astro File Manager that allow you to navigate the files and folders on your phone and SD card.

So is there no way of doing it without these apps?

    check your downloads app.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,713 ✭✭✭Bluefoam

in your apps tray there is a 'download' folder. you can find the file here if you successfully downloaded it.

It will also show up in your music player app if it is saved as a correct format.

Otherwise a file manager app will help you find the file, but to be honest, if its not showing up in your music app, you've downloaded an incorrect format and should delete it.

    Hi,
How can I sync my Gmail, Facebook etc. for my HTC One and laptop/tablet?
If I delete an e-mail on my HTC I want it to be deleted when I open Gmail on my laptop.
I would have presumed that this would have applied by default.

    Cheers.

    I using this one:
    http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00BPMYHBU/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i02?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I really like it. I has a hole cut which makes accessing the power button easy. Cheap and seems to protect well, that said I haven't dropped it yet. The case for my last phone was from the same company and that worked really well when I dropped that phone.

Thanks Issac, will get one of those

Best off to flash one of the custom roms onto it and either use the volume buttons or just above the HTC logo to wake the phone up etc.

Some ROMS like Android Revolution HD (ARHD) , Maximus/Trickdroid are basically identical to the stock roms except for some minor tweaks etc.
ARHD is particularly good I found.
I'm using Viper 2 rom myself as I like a bit more customization etc.
if anyone's not sure about it I'll link into some of the pages etc that you need in order to install a custom rom.

I got that and very happy with it.

Not so happy with the cheap screen protector I bought- it's got many scratches.
I'll have to look for a good one that doesn't scratch- anyone recommend one?

    Thanks, wile of thoso

I have both from same buyer They're both the same cut outs except for shape on the back. I prefer the S-line personally.

Question: does anyone else have problems with adverts, daft or journal app on 4.2.2? All crash upon opening for me.

Cursor on m.boards.ie reply box keeps jumping up into quoted text too or your own reply if its few lines long and overtypes the text.

no issues on adverts or daft. dont use journal as i think their app is crap so use their mobile site.

Guys do any of you use a task killer? Getting mixed reviews online if they are any good.

Coming from an iPhone I'm finding it a bit odd not having an option like the double click home where you close all the open apps yourself. I downloaded ATK and everytime I open it apps I haven't opened are down as open and I kill them all and an hour later theyre open again according to atk. Any suggestions? Or should I just let these apps run and not worry about it?

Just let them run and they'll get killed by the OS when it needs more RAM. Task killers are a waste of time. And the multitasking on the One is the same as the double click home on iOS.

The One allows you to kill apps if you want, its built into 4.2.2.

TBH it doesn't effect performance too much anymore as the OS has a relatively sophisticated power management system.

I'm using ADK but now with venom rom installed I can kill all open programs with 1 click so I might uninstall it..barely ever use ADK anyway

The fonem8 ones on Amazon are excellent. I have used them on loads of devices now and their quality shames much more expensive ones. The screen protector on mine is on it 2 months now and completely scratch free. The one on my Note 2 is on it 6 months and also perfect.

Howdy folks, I have my One about a week now. It's rooted and I flashed the kernal to enable the swipe to unlock - can't be dealing with the location of the power button. I'm still going with the stock rom, seems much better than sense builds of old.

Anyway, my question. How do I quickly enable GPS? I can put the power widget on screen but I don't really want to. I'd like if it could be accessed when pulled down the notification bar and then click the grid icon in the top right (everything else can be switched on in there but there's no GPS). So can I edit this screen? e.g. is it possible to bump "auto-rotate" for GPS?

It bugged the crap out of me as well so I went and installed the Team Viper Rom (with sense) for it.
GPS is in the pull down menu then :)
So far it's been excellent with no issues. Currently running it with the elemental kernel so I can use just about the HTC logo to unlock as well as the volume buttons.

Just leave it on, it won't actually turn on until an app that uses it starts so it's not a battery/resource hog.

As for the task killers mentioned previously, I think the os handled closed apps properly since 2.1 froyo. Absolutely no need for them as the way they work is completely at odds with how the os itself works and does more harm than good.

That's one thing I miss from the iphone..you could turn it on and set the applications allowed to use it...I don't think you can do that on android?

Or you could just download power toggles.

Hey lads and lassies, My poor auld HTC One took its first decent tumble yesterday and frightened the life out of me. Thankfully only a tiny scratch on the side was the outcome.
But, its time to get a cover for it. Any suggestions on good covers and places to buy.

I'm looking towards the Otterbox but the OH has one for her S4 but its becomes a mighty beast of a phone when thats on it. Is it as bad for the One?
