No fair :( :pac: still no email.

Strange. Did you order anything with the console which might hold up the delivery?
I preordered AC5 which also has the same ETA and I went for standard rather than super saver delivery.

I didn't get one yet either. I didn't order any additional goods and chose standard delivery. I'm hoping there's just a processing delay....

Is there much chance shops will run out of stock at launch?

I think thats pretty much a given, all allocated stock is surely tied up on those that pre-ordered

They will not have any stock left after the pre-orders have been dealt with, it is always possible as well that some stores may have taken more pre-orders then they were instructed to and people will not get one even if they did pre-order and will end up on the second list.

Have to admit I was a bit let down about the release date, I had really hoped lat Oct!

What stock? It will be after xmas before a PS4 console can be picked up without a pre order!

I'm actually not here on the day of launch, I'l be in the US :( Would there be any major disadvantages to getting an American console?

Most if not all of the American stores are sold out of pre-orders now though, so unless they get more stock in before you leave, you more than likely will not get one.

I'm gonna be in new york, so I'm hoping maybe I'd find one. I'm gone from the 27th to the 1st, would gamestop hold my pre order till the second?

Sure just get a friend to go in, just give him the receipt and he can pick it up.

All the stock speculation is so annoying.

Nobody here has a clue how many consoles are coming into the country or how many pre orders have been taken. For all you know some shops may have consoles sitting on the shelves on the day in certain counties.

Any stock that is left spare, for example if a person pre-orders but does not pick his up in a certain amount of days or cancels, will go to the first person on the second list according to my Gamestop in town.

What about Argos, Tesco and independent electronics stores though.

I'd say stock will be plentiful before Xmas, big mistake if it isn't.

None of those stores are offering the console for pre-order and has not been any mention of them actually getting the console in this side of Christmas yet, so far the only stores you can get it at are Gamestop, Smyths and Xtra Vision.

Its informed speculation, based on current information, and on past experience.

If you haven't pre-ordered by now, its unlikely you will get one at launch. Its certainly possible, there may some shops, that have some stock on there shelves, but they will be snapped up pretty quickly based on past experience, and considering that a lot of shops, not only have a pre-order list for launch, but another list for the next shipment, I would think that happening will be rare if it happens at all.

Must take a stroll into Smyths and see if they are still taking pre-orders.

I rang the one on the Ennis Road this morning. They aren't taking any pre-orders, and their first wave is fully booked up.

Biggest and most obvious disadvantage is, if there is a problem with it, Sony Ireland/UK/Europe won't touch it with a barge-pole, so you'd have to send it back to the US to get it fixed.
