I've decided to fully pursue a Gameweek 3 wildcard strategy so I've changed up my team to reflect this. Currently looking like:

    GK: Cech, Boruc

Cech will obviously start the double gameweek. Gameweek 2 is undecided and 3 will be Boruc.

DEF: Lescott, Coleman, Reid, Turner, Roberge

All have good fixtures over the first three fixtures, and I can rotate based on what I see in the first couple of games. Lescott, Coleman and Reid are currently in my lineup for week 1.

MID: Hazard, Walcott, Nolan, Mirallas, Giacherrini

I'm happy with this 5, particularly over the first three weeks. Hazard, Walcott and Mirallas are anyweek starters. Both Nolan and Giacherrini have good goal/assist potential and I wouldn't have any hesitation starting them in their first three games - important because Hazard will be unavailable in week 3.

    FOR: Soldado, Van Wolfswinkel, Lambert

All three will start week 1. I plan to probably swap Soldado to a Man City striker in either gameweek 2 or 3, I want to see how they play in their first game before I do that.

These are still prone to some changes but I'm fairly happy with this shell and my opening strategy in general.

despite what the media would have you believe he didnt have that bad a season last year. He scored over 20 goals in all competitions for chelsea last year. Not advocating picking him but I would say torres was better than ba in the 2nd half of the season.

Ok I'm just about settled on this now - Any obvious ommissions?

Cech (CHE) - In for the DGW. Will be replacing with Mignolet from GW2 and gaining 1M
I've gone for the 'cheap defenders that will start' strategy to free up funds on the front lines
    Garrido (NOR)
    Rat (WHU)
    Baker (AVL)
    Silva (MNC)
Mata (CHE) - Unsure as to where to go with him or Hazard but I think he will score heavier and takes set pieces.
    Mirallas (EVE)
Downing (WHU) - Will start on the wing for West Ham. Have a feeling Big Sam will rely on him to pump crosses in for Carroll. Could rack up assists
Soldado (TNH) - Looked in great form in the pre-season game last weekend
Van Persie (MNU) - Starting with him because getting him in without a wildcard would be a nightmare. Easier to get him out than get him in
Van Wolfswinkel (NOR) - Don't know a lot about this guy but with all the talk about him I'm banking on him to be this year's Michu

    Subs
    Given (AVL)
    Chester (HUL)
    Turner (CDF)
    Morrison (WHU)

looks good for gw 1 but you seem to have left yourself a lot to do for gw3,
by then aguero should be match fit so dzeko is a worry,
cech, lukaku and hazard have no game and your sub keeper is second choice.
maybe switch cech to mignolet and it frees you up 1.0 and means you don't have to transfer your keeper before gw 3.
or else see if you can free up .5 to get a 4.5 keeper that will play in gw3.

+1, fairly template non RVP team but going with no sub goalie (who plays) and Dzeko is a points hit waiting to happen.

Looks grand. Maybe if you gave some thoughts on your picks, or if you had some specific doubts over certain players it would be easier to comment. But on the face of it it looks fine.

Yeah I think i'm gonna change 1 or 2 subs around to get boruc in for 4.5m

anyone have any idea who might start in defence for villa. i presume clark and lowton are pretty much guaranteed for both games?

My only issue is not picking RVP. I hope he doesn't take off too early cause I'm not really a fan of wildcarding too early. Apart from that I'm happy enough!!

    Clark: probably not. Lowton:yes.

Starting line up will probably be:

Lowton - Vlaar - Baker (probably, but not a cert) - Luna (probably)

If you want certs in the villa defence, go for Lowton or Vlaar.

I think Clark is a more likely starter than Baker but I agree, Lowton or Vlaar are Villa defenders to have. I personally think it's mad having Villa defenders for the first couple of weeks though.

possibly. everyone is expecting villa to get destroyed by arsenal and chelsea so having a villa defender in the team, even if they manage one clean sheet, should be a handy 8 points plus a few bonus points now that they have been altered for the new season.

Haha, I like your team. Fine for a GW1 lineup.

Only concerns would be Dzeko rotation and having two Liverpool attackers.

Having Gerrard and Couthinho is a bad idea. Lampard could be risky also.

I quite like it. Especially because it's so different to everyone else's here.

Why is that? I had the two of them for a lot of last year and they did fine. Lampard is a worry alright. Any viable alternatives?

Gerrard is 33 now. He won't be able to play 90 minutes week in, week out. There's also strong rumours that Rodgers wants to use 4-2-3-1 more with Coutinho in the 10 role. If this happens, Gerrard will probably have to play deep.

If you want to keep the Chelsea cover with a straight swap I'd probably take Oscar. Schürrle is worth keeping an eye on, but I wouldn't have him in my team at the start.

My best advice would be to downgrade Gerrard and upgrade Lampard to Hazard.

Kenny Dalglish thought of that already.

Going through all the drafts I have made had led me to think that the DGW can go and take a running jump. I have Hazard and he's captain that should be enough. Or at the very least John Terry worming his way into my team is a no-no. That 1.5 can be better spent elsewhere!!

    My final squad (I hope!);

    Cech, Harper,
    Mertesacker, Coleman, Turner, Chester, Ward,
    Walcott, Hazard,Silva, Snodgrass, Lucas,
    RVP, Lambert, Weimann.
