Bet in, seems to be the only sport I can make money on fairly regular

Couldve called the mac donald fight after the first round
jake didn't show but rory kept him at bay very easily with
    his reach and jabs
couldnt find any vid for the masvidal chiesa fight but i
    see masvidal subbed chiesa lol
that's one outcome I wouldnt have predicted

Had Rory, Mighty Mouse, Lawler, and Liz on a accum but all my other bets lost so just made my stake back.

Gonna go for The korean Zombie by submission against aldo.

  • Registered Users Posts: 23,848 ✭✭✭✭mailburner

broders, you always get in with your picks first so I'll nip in
    ahead of you for once

Small bet on aldo by decision at 3/1 (vcbet)

I'm thinking zombie is one tough dude and will very hard to ko and
if aldo hasn't finished him by the end of the second round then I think
the aldo points win will be as good as in
The fact that its in brazil and a long lay off for kz is what's putting
me off kz for the win but you could see him nicking one or two
of the latter rounds if aldo slows down as he often does which is
probably inevitable with the amount of weight aldo cuts

Who in their wildest dreams could have seen zombie ever fighting
for a title after his first fight v garcia?
Aldo by ko is 4/7 aldo by dec 3/1
There's no way imo those prices should be that far apart when you
consider 3 of aldos 4 ufc fights have gone 5 rounds and kz has got
    a fair chin on him
I think it's a once in a lifetime opportunity for kz and I actually hope
he takes it but aldo just too quick imo
Aldo may well take him apart being in brazil and all that but I think
it's worth the risk that kz survives the initial onslaught
I wasn't planning on getting involved in that one but I see that price as
    a bit of value

edit, one concern I do have is that if aldo picks kz apart and kz abandons
his gameplan and starts swinging for the rafters
It'll be a short night for the zombie if he goes down the road with aldo

Going for a treble besides which works out at almost 19/10 (pp) machida, maghales and leites
I really fancy maghales and machida but the double only works out at 4/6
which is a little short for my liking so I'm throwing in leites at 4/5

Maghales is not a fighter I thought I'd ever be backing but
fighting at home against perosh who I consider to be a
weaker opponent and just don't see him winning this
Maghales did perform creditably against davis lto and with
it being in brazil I think he takes this by sub maybe
I do think he will be desperate to win this given a loss would
surely mean him being cut again
    It's now or never vinnie

Machida v davis is one I see standing whether it goes one round
    or three rounds
I think davis stand up is improving and he was too good for
maghales but machidas stand up is in a different league to davis
I'd fancy machida to win very comfortably on points
I don't see it being an exciting fight though

Lastly, leites to beat watson to make the odds more respectable
It wasn't that long ago leites was fighting silva for the title which
must be the worst title fight of all time with leites not willing to engage
    and silva horsing around
I thought leites would have been shorter than 4/5 for this if i'm
being honest and maybe a single might be a more sensible bet.
Watson is tough and he will probably try to take the head
off leites but I could see leites subbing watson early enough as I
don't believe he will stand with watson
I see watson possibly spending most of the first round on his back.
The majority of leites wins have been by sub also with 13 subs
    from his 20 wins
Leites has faced a much higher calibre of fighter of the years
than tom watson which should help also
Maybe I'm giving leites too much credit or not giving watson
enough but I had leites priced up a bit shorter myself

3/1 is a nice price for an Aldo decision but I see him stopping the zombie. KZ's aggression will see him getting caught at some stage and I really don't think he can get Aldo to the ground. Lamas would be a far tougher fight for Aldo at this stage. The fact that the fight is in Brazil should help Aldo as well, the travelling won't get in the way of his weight cut so he should be pretty fresh and looking to put on a show at home. Not much value in the KO at 4/7 though as you say. The fight to go over 3.5 rounds is 6/4 on bet 365 which might be a nice little alternative to the fight going to decision.

Fully agree with Machida and Maghales but I actually fancy Kong Watson against Leites which would really bump up your odds. Shocking record for gringos fighting in Brazil but I think Watson is on the up and up. Lovely KO of Nedkov in round 2, Nedkov normally gases out in Rd 3 so I thought it held more weight the fact he got him out of there in the second. Training in Jacksons as well he should have a sound gameplan. Pedigree wise Leites is the obvious bet but he hasn't fought since March 2012 which will set him back. I think Watson pulls the slight upset here with a late KO or decision.

Was going to suggest Lineker to add to the accumulator as I think he such a beast but just saw he is 2/9.

@Mailburner: Nice call on Rory/Jorge, was so disappointed in Ellenberger, he never showed up at all.

    Not sure about Tom Watson.

He was literally saved by the bell in round 1 of the Nedkov fight and and as you say "gringos" do terrible in Brazil. Plus Watson lost his other fight in the UFC.

I didn't see any method of victory betting for the machida match
earlier in the week but its there now

    machida on pts 11/10

I cant see past this but Ive had a bad week gambling

Really see this being very cagey with davis getting picked apart but
without machida going in for the kill
pretty sure davis will see it out myself, he's never been stopped
but he's never faced anyone as good as machida either and the
brazilians usually put on a show for the home fans

Is it a good thing in anyone elses mind?
do some think he'll ko davis?

  • Registered Users Posts: 23,848 ✭✭✭✭mailburner

stumbled across this on the espn site also which makes
the pts win for machida look even better

11: Knockdowns landed for Machida in his UFC career, tied for fourth most all-time. In the light heavyweight division, Machida is second to UFC Hall of Famer Chuck Liddell, who has 14. Davis has not been knocked down in nine UFC fights.

74: Davis' significant strike defense percentage, fourth highest in UFC history. "Mr. Wonderful" is one of the most difficult fighters to hit, absorbing just 53 significant strikes in his seven UFC wins. In his loss against Rashad Evans, Davis was hit with just 38 percent of significant strikes. Machida is one of the best strikers in UFC history, landing 57 percent of his significant strikes, which is seventh best all-time.

  • Registered Users Posts: 85 ✭✭broders3

11/10 is a good price for Machida by decision but I have a feeling Lyoto may be able to pull off something spectacular here for a KO stoppage. When he faced the likes of Bader, Couture who are wrestlers like Davis where he had a significant striking advantage, he KO'd them easily. I have a feeling this could be a similar kind of fight. Davis needs to get this fight to the ground to have any chance and I think Lyoto catches him with something for a stoppage.

Betting against the mailburner didn't do me much good last week but at 11/5 I think Machida by KO is a nice bet.

Machida by KO , Aldo on points, leites by sub...
    €€€€

Went with machida points also but not a big bet (same stake as the treble) as I've enough
invested as is with the treble and single

Just a bit sorry that price wasnt there earlier in the week as
i'd have made it my only bet
still think leites should be shorter mind you
So much to bet on and not enough dosh :)

    f

The injury to kz finished the first bet
Feel it was heading for a very comfortable pts dec for
aldo other than that and most definitely the least exciting
    fight aldo has been in

The treble lasted 14 seconds with vinnie getting caught very
    early on

A horrible day at the office
nothing went my way esp with aldo and arguably machida

I found the machida fight very hard to score but i had it 29/28 mach
Not sure how you score some of those rounds and
I wouldnt have been surprised if they called that a draw

that takedown in the first and second I'm assuming the difference in the end.
I had the first round as a 50/50
The fight went as I thought with it being a bit of a borefest with
    both being very cautious
I'm sure it'll be discussed to death but I feel machidas loss to rampage
    was more of a robbery

Leites was in a different league to watson and that price was
too big but it's not much good to me now

9 of the 12 favourites won.

9 of 12 in Brasil is low.

Machida and Vinny were huge upsets.

Think they definitely had the Hippo set up as a can

Gonna have a tenner on Tyrone Sprongs opponent. 8/1 is a huge price, even though I don't know the first thing about him. Sprong is awesome but his grappling might be poor.

There's a very limited betting market for UFC on Fox Sports 1 on Paddypower. Anyone know where I can get more prices? I've contacted Paddypower to see if we can get more added.

From what's there, I'm going with 2 singles of Sonnen by points @ 7/5 and Travis Browne by KO @ 23/10.

I'd like to see what the odds on some of the undercard fighters are. I'll put money on Pickett v McDonald as fight of the night.

  • Registered Users Posts: 85 ✭✭broders3

I actually can't believe Sonnen is favoured in that fight. For me Shogun at even money is very good value. If he shows up in the kind of shape he did against Dan Henderson I think he beats the hell out of Sonnen.

All the markets should be there by friday and Ladbrokes should have a wide range of markets also
uncle chael pts for me also

Was gonna have a big bet on Conor in the 1st at 6/4 but think I'm
Gonna have a smaller one on 2nd round at 13/2.
Also they had markets up last week on paddys and had Conor KO of the night 6/1 worth a bet also.
I think Shogun will turn up in good shape and beat chael.
    And picket McDonald looks FOTN

    5/4 with bet365

I think it'll be close if uncle chael doesnt put rua on his back but
    I think he might

If its stays standing I think a pts win for either is likely but
for me rua to win on pts (ladb) is 7/1 and that is massive
    in fairness

If anyone's looking for a long term bet, PP have 2 specials for Conor McGregor.

He's 9/2 to win a title by the end of 2016.

Or he's 8/1 to win a title by the end of 2014.

  • Registered Users Posts: 12,431 ✭✭✭✭El Guapo!

Going for a risky accum for fun on Saturday.

    I have:
    Sonnen
    Faber
    McGregor
    Johnson
    Pyle

    €20 returns €433.

As I said its a bit risky. Probably unlikely, but not impossible! :pac:

shogun has statistically the worst takedown defence in the ufc! only way he wins this fight is via leglock

most of the fights priced up now on pp

One price jumped out at me 7/2 howard v 1/5 uriah

I'm so confused at that price on howard
I thought hall might be a narrow favourite
what am I missing? feels like that's an insane price for
a lad as tough as they come
    hall hasnt beaten anybody yet
at least howard has gone the distance with brown and pitbull and
the doctor stopped his fight in the third v ellenb so
theres nothing wrong with his chin anyway

    Anyone thinking the same?
don't think I can resist that price

gastelum was 3s v uriah too which a few of us were on here

just took the 7/2, couldnt leave it
best price with stan james at 4s
