Celtic fielding only a handful of first team players tomoro?

I heard Forster, Izzy and Lustig will be the only first team players. Won't be impressed if that is the case.

It's a Friendly match at the end of the day. I expect Amido Balde and one or two others will get a start.

Wonder what sort of team the Scousers will line out with, they don't have a big CL qualifier coming up, so maybe they'll play something nearer their first pick?

Expect the team that will play Stoke the following Saturday, bar Sturridge who has travelled but will probably only do 30 mins.

"We are going to work hard to get a few players in, the players are running on empty,"

Didnt expect many of the team that played during the week to be starting when Lennon said and we werent even finished preseason!

Stokes was suppose to be a Celtic Store in Dublin today, replaced by Matthews & Lustig. Looking at the picture, he's training in Malahide
Samaras was carrying an ankle knock going into the Elfsborg match
Mulgrew locked his knee the under night and looks like he'll be nursing that for next few days
Ambrose hasnt had much of a holiday
    Same goes for Izzy
Van Dijk is still dealing with a bone fracture, no chance

A few players get a chance to impress Lennon, hopefully we'll see squad players having a good go!

This game may be more important to Liverpool than Celtic as regards pre-season prep as against CL qualifiers ties looming.

We did in 2011, lost 2-1 in Karagnady but won 2-0 in Inchicore. Fairly ordinary side back then.

Shakthter Karagandy no threat to Celtic's CL ambitions, St Pats saw them off with relative ease just two years ago.

"We´re hoping Charlie Mulgrew is not too bad, but he´s not here," the Irishman explained. "Georgios should be okay for next weekend. He´s going to report to Greece but he won´t play.

"Mikael Lustig is feeling a bit sore and so is James, so we´re a wee bit light in terms of the squad from Wednesday night. We´ve left about six or seven at home because of a few niggles, a few bumps and bruises, and it took a lot out of them. It gives us a chance to give some of the squad players a run-out as well."

The team that will play will be very inexperienced so!

And the game ends with the Celtic team’s mum calling them in for their dinner.

FULL TIME: Liverpool 0 Celtic 1 (Balde 12)” Is that Celtic giving the age of the striker?

This team doesn't just have their names on their backs, their mammies have sewn them inside as well.

    Hail Hail Lenny's Bhoys.

Delighted with that. Real bonus to win with a bunch of kids and our focus on more important CL Qualifiers coming up. Team defended really well. Lenny has got us well drilled defensively, augurs well for the CL Group Stages so long as we get over that last hurdle v Karagandy.

Enjoyed that, a lot of positives even though we rode our luck at times. Defensively excellent, and all the players had a good game to be fair. Was worried when I saw Zaluska between the sticks, but he was really excellent and pulled off a few great saves. He looked very sharp tbh. Lost count of how many corners Liverpool had, they were pretty dominant especially towards the end and fluffed a number of good chances.

Delighted that Balde scored, lovely ball from Stokes when I thought he had lost possession. Hopefully it'll do his confidence some good. Kayal, Matthews, Lustig, Izzy... all very good. Thought we could have pressed a bit more in midfield at times, we seemed to let Liverpool pass the ball about a little too easily at times, and that lead to a few chances which could have been avoided. Liverpool really should have got at least a point.

Decent result and great atmosphere at the game, looked like pretty much a full house to me. Certainly compared to last year with that Carling Super Cup thing, the crowd was much better.

Zaluska gets a lot of unfair criticism in my opinion, not as good as big Forster admittedly but not far behind.

He's way behind Forster imo and is not good enough to command the number one jersey.

    Any hassle finding tickets?

Enjoyed the game, the result was an unexpected bonus. What was the Liverpool goal ruled out for? Mouyokolo looked pretty decent from where I was sitting.

It's all about opinion mate,Lenny and the back room team see him daily so if he wasn't good enough he wouldn't be there.

Just my opinion that he's way behind Forster but is decent cover.

I agree with that assessment. I'm very happy about Balde & Kayal's performances, they needed it. McGeouch wasnt bad either. Liverpool created chances but they were fierce poor for a side starting their league season next week

some guys were looking for massive money for their tickets but im happy to say there were more people selling at face value.

the game showed a lot of promise glad to see balde hit the back of the net. mouyokolo doesn't look bad. Also the Liverpool support are so boring (had to be said). nice to see the younger guys getting a game and finally to see celtic do well in a pre-season game

The Scotsman reporting that Celtic are tabling bids for Finnbogason and Doyle.

I'd be delighted to get Alfred Finnbogason but Doyle would be a waste of money, especially if Finnbogason is signed

Balde looked a lot better yesterday though still a bit raw. If he can be fast tracked there'd be no need for Doyle. Finnbogason looks to be the ideal replacement for Hooper. If both are signed, Stokes may become surplus to requirements, he hasn't signed a new deal yet has he.

Celtic are making another contract offer according to Lennon on friday. I wouldnt say surplus to requirements, just never will be guaranteed a game. Whether he accepts that, is another thing.

Don't know much about Finnbogason, but I think Doyle has been found out as a player in the last couple of seasons. I'd rate Stokes as better. Doyle got by on hard work and good attitude, but that only gets you so far. Was never his biggest fan TBH and couldn't get my head around it a few years ago when he was being linked with Arsenal and Liverpool amongst others. Don't think he'd cut it in the CL, assuming of course Celtic qualify.

Celtic have bid £4 million in the past half hour according to a Dutch newspaper.
The guy who told us on Twitter that Derk was signing for us before MSM in Scotland did says it looks a done deal.

If we're going to sign him then surely its got to be tonight or first thing tomorrow as he has to head back to Iceland for a midweek international.

It sounds to good to be true tbh

Bidding £4m without negotiating doesnt sound like Lawwell at all.

If the bid is accepted and we need him to do a medical to meet the monday registration deadline then he'll be allowed to withdraw from the international squad i imagine.

If we are signing 2 or more players then a deal(s) must be done tomorrow because only 1 wildcard is allowed to be registered before the game.

Correct Dempsey, but there are 3 other clubs sniffing around too,Hamburg,Southampton and some other Dutch club, possibly PSV Eindhoven,so I hope we get the deal done as soon as possible.
