I don't know if they do or not, but I always thought amazon had an Irish warehouse and items were dispatched from there.

If they have an Irish warehouse, I see no reason why not.
If they don't own an Irish warehouse, then it won't be.

The majority of stuff I have received from Amazon, has either been from England or Germany, they do not have a Irish warehouse, just a big customer care call center.

Strange, cause I have had packages delivered from amazon in the past with a return address in the corner of the postage label reading as somewhere in Dublin?

Seeing that on many parcels I've received, I've always assumed they did have some sort of warehouse in the republic. Could be wrong though.

No mention of a Warehouse/Fulfilment Centres in Ireland??

They have a depot in Dublin and a development center, along with a customer care center in cork, but everything originates from their warehouses in England and Germany, and they always use Royal Mail if it is from England.

If that's the case then I would be very surprised if anyone who ordered a PS4 with amazon gets it on launch day. Will probably take a day or two extra to arrive.

If Amazon are organised they could have the PS4's in a depot in Dublin ready to dispatch launch day. If not then be prepared to wait!

This was why I changed my pre order from Amazon to Gamestop.

I'm not bothered about getting it on launch day, once it's here before Xmas then I'm happy. At the mo I have Super Saver Delivery selected, but depending on how late the console launches, I might change that just incase

It'd have to launch in mid december for that to become a problem, if that 8th december date that was rumour is true it should be fine (as long as the EU is only a few days later to match normal release days).

What I did was get a free one-month of amazon prime (have since paid for it because it is awesome), and have it sent to parcel motel in Belfast with free one-day delivery.

For example, last Friday I ordered a book just before lunch, and it was in the parcel motel near me, ready to be collected Saturday around 10pm.

You pay a slightly lower price when delivering to a UK address, which is a bonus.

(Parcel motel charge €3.50, not sure if there is one near you, but there is alot of them now, you get your first two parcels free as well).

Yeah Parcel Motel is very handy. There's one or two near enough to me, but I likely will just use Amazon as I'm not too pushed on getting it soon. Being an Xmas present, I've the luxury of not being under pressure to get it day 1.

Found out that local gamestop os doing midnight launch, SWEET! :o

I payed another 50eu and this brings me to 350eu payed off. Interesting figures: 120 PS4s preordered and 50 XBOX one.

Still taking preorders, but no way of getting it on launch. Even people who ordered before this date will be in limbo as they dont even know how many they will get. So it will just go the list way.

I've never had it that fast but there's been time where it's came very fast.

I ordered something on the saturday and I was hoping I'd have it by friday but it show up on wednesday after shipping monday. Personally I think they're getting faster, not that it'll matter if the PS4 is too near Christmas no matter they prepare for it.

Would you not have to stress test it first. ;):P

You have to be careful of that, the Wii recorded the date it was started on and showed it on the calendar which meant I had some quick thinking to do.

So after any stress testing format the thing.

Interesting post. Can I ask where your local GameStop is? The pre orders have been hidden by GameStop as xtra vision and smyths apparently were sniffing round trying to see where preorder numbers were with GameStop so I know for a fact that a manager wouldn't tell you that and I would be very surprised that a staff member told u that as GameStop were enforcing co policies on giving that kind of info out!!!

I also know a manager a family member and he told me since Xbox changed policies of Xbox one the amount of people cancelling ps4 and swapping to Xbox is astonishing.. He reckons as it stands Xbox are WAY ahead preorder wise now

Just double checked, and it was definitely sent from Dublin, with a Dublin PO Box as the return address. It has been getting noticeably slower recently alright though, until this one. Their packing and preparing can take an age.

They should just open the doors, have a pile of them stacked up in the middle and whoevers fastest, gets to take it.
A bit like Black Friday in the US.

Going by my experience for the PS3 they fence off a part of the store and funnel people into a collection point when they've a midnight launch.

I've gone to a few Gamestop Cork midnight releases. Sometimes they let you in around 11 or so, you pay at 11 or whatever, you q at counter and then they give you game/console at midnight. For the last of us they had to wait until midnight before they could take cash and give the game out.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 894 ✭✭✭filmbuffboy

So what's the deal with these midnight releases?

If my local Gamestop is doing one, do I HAVE to go to it if I want to get my hands on a console even though I pre ordered? I don't exactly relish the thought of queuing up at that hour and walking through town alone with a ps4 in my hands whilst making my way home.

Would much rather go in for it the next morning, but if it's on a first come first served basis, I suppose I'll have no choice. First come first served is such a stupid system and any store operating under it need their heads examined

No you don't have to go to the midnight launch if you've PO and they are going by a list. If they aren't going by a list you still dont have to go to midnight launch but I would be there at opening time the following morning.
Me personally, I'll be going to GS Corks midnight launch and will pull an all nighter :)

No exact release date yet. They should be announcing the release date on Aug 20th at Gamescom. It'll more than likely be in November as that is when the xbox one is gonna be released.

I wish it was released a month ago! I drew a big 4 on my PS3 to keep me going though!
