I was given a C64 instead of a Megadrive as a child and it has left me bitter and twisted ever since!

Anywhere still taking launch day preorders? Just called into Smyths in Jervis, and was told they're only taking preorders for the second shipment. I have a pre-order on Amazon since May 30th, but I'm pretty sure that won't make it here for launch day, so I think I'd rather get it locally.

you're probably too late to get one locally for launch day. If I were you I'd stick with your Amazon preorder

With most websites and all saying now that pre orders for launch cant be guaranteed after August 4th - 7th does that mean anyone that pre ordered before then is guaranteed one??

Techincally, yes. Xtra Vision were guaranteeing launch day delivery for pre orders until Aug 5th. Gamestop went a similar route. Only time will tell if they have enough consoles to go around with the first batch.

I just mailed Gamestop with this very question, Cactus_mac88. I'll report on any answer I get.

Hmm, I suppose. I'll opt for 1-2 day delivery and hope for the best, I used it once and got the order the following day, so I can be hopeful.

Anyone else have experience with 1-2 day delivery on Amazon?

Just got that email from Amazon that was doing the rounds some time ago, something about apologising & not being able to supply a release date. I don't like seeing the word "Sorry" contained within a pre-order email :o

So amazon is backing down from delivering for launch? Ouch. When did you placed order?

They're not backing down from delivering at launch.

They are apologising to consumers as they don't have a release date yet.
Sounds like a standard system generated email.

Yeah standard system generated email, apologising for not being able to supply a release date for the PS4. Nothing to get excited about really

no one knows when the things out, so anyone getting an e-mail saying sorry we cant supply a release date is just because they don't know like everyone else.

Things will be a lot clearer after gamescon this month methinks

you try direct from sony? sony.ie- downside, you have to pay up front, but they were taking launch order til recently. check website and ring number on site or email customercare.

I am honestly not stirring it but I just wonder if Irish customers will actually get one on launch day itself? I know they said First Class Royal Mail guaranteed UK residents a launch day delivery. Has anyone got confirmation that Irish orders will be delivered day one?

I don't know if they do or not, but I always thought amazon had an Irish warehouse and items were dispatched from there.

If they have an Irish warehouse, I see no reason why not.
If they don't own an Irish warehouse, then it won't be.

So I emailed Gamestop Ireland this very question. Here's their response:

Only online sales on or before 7th August are guaranteed the console. In store it stopped being guaranteed after 20th July.

    ---

I pre ordered mine on the 16th of July, so fingers crossed I'll get one on Day one. Looks like ordering online might have been the way to go. I don't exactly relish the thought of having to queue up before midnight to get one lol...

The GameStop site is terrible, you can't change orders and you need to email them which won't alter the order on the site only on their system.

Is there a date when they'll announce the release date :pac:

same day, can't find time, one site said prob before sony as they'd be late on if they went after them.

Sony.ie has also stopped guaranteeing launch day Pre-Orders saying.

"Reserve your PS4 now but due to the great demand delivery can no longer be guaranteed at launch date. Please be aware that in order to guarantee your reservation, credit cards will be charged full amount up front."

So you won't get one on launch day anywhere now. But if you order from Sony, they'll take all your money.

the button to buy, which was there, has disappeared. looks like august 5/6 was the cut-off point for everybody so.

maybe some local stores might take an order if the preorders there were particularly low?

Just on anyone ordering from amazon? What delivery option did you pick? the best paid delivery is two working days? Thanks

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,049 ✭✭✭unkymo

    I still haven't preordered!

I'm not in a rush to get it though, I'll probably wait a few weeks after its released and get one then.
