as posted on here, according to media reports august 5 has been declared as the last day, by sony, for a preorder guarantee. what will be very interesting will be the change, if any, to sites advertising pre-orders. will amazon remove the 'want this on release day' bit, will sony.ie remove their release day guarantee if you prepay in full? will the irish gamestop site remove, or alter, their preorder page?

these changes would at least indicate that if you had ordered before the fifth that your order should be ok. i preordered direct from sony, emailed them to confirm the guarantee and the reply, i received, stated they expect the delivery to arrive as promised.

    august 5 will be interesting.

Just pre ordered mine in xtra vision Waterford.

    Half way there.

Probly spent the guts of 200-300 on accessories on the day it comes out.

    change of message on amazon.co.uk

    "Sony PlayStation 4 (PS4)
(Please note--orders placed for this PlayStation 4 console from August 6 will be fulfilled as soon as we receive sufficient inventory.)"

just going to check other sites to see if message has changed there too, seems august 5 may well have been the cut-off. so if you were in before then i take it you should be ok.

edit: no change on gamestop or sony sites, but then again there's still 3/4 hr left on the 5th!

March! The only worry you'll have is that they lost that list and started a new one.

Ubi has stated that the PS4 version of Watchdogs may not make the launch date. The PS3 version is on time but they don't know about the PS4 version.

That was one of the few I was really looking forward to play on next gen

Looking more and more likely I may cancel my order and wait until after christmas.

why not keep order and sell on ebay close to christmas, probably make a few bob. disappointing if ps4 version of watch dogs doesn't make launch. that and fifa14 were going to be my two initial purchases. still though, in time for the christmas holidays would do.

No I think I was 3rd on the list when I went in so not much worry, but I was just reading some of the thread and saw people saying some places are first come first served and was wondering are smyths doing that or by list. I sent them 2 emails and never got a response so thought someone here might know.

Also do you reckon there is much need to preorder games or extra controller?

I pre ordered the PS4 in Xtravision but just read today about the possibility of a Vita PS4 bundle coming out. Is there a chance that the bundle will be available at launch ? I would like to pick a bundle at Xtravision which includes the Vita.

I was told by my local Smyths that they're going by a list anyway. I wouldn't say there's a great need to pre-order the games, although obviously it couldn't hurt. Most places tend to have the games freely available at any console launches I can remember.

Thanks, I'd say they're doing the same through all stores then. I wasn't sure on games the only one that is a must for me really is FIFA, but I wanted to wait and see what bundles are coming out plus I saw the deal on the Vita that aindriu80 mentioned which I might get. Hopefully should have some idea on bundles and release date by the end of next month.

Highly doubt Sony can get a Vita Bundle out this year! They will be already geared up and probably struggling to get enough standalone PS4's out for launch date!

I bought a PS Vita 2 weeks ago and I am loving it and cannot wait to use remote play on it. It is such an underrated handheld!

Gamescom is the on the 21st-25th of this month. We should find out the release date during that. They might also reveal any official bundle plans. I'd say shops will start revealing bundle offers after that.

It really is excellent. It's funny, though, for all Sony's promoting of it as AAA console gaming in your hands, where it's really excelled is in the smaller indie games. It's the perfect fit for them.

I'm playing Hotline Miami on it and it just sucks you in completely but I would never dream of playing it on my PS3! As you said it needs to become an Indie Game Paradise as I don't like playing them on my 34 inch flatscreen!

I don't want to get the PS4 on launch date an then see a Vita bundle coming out with like €100 off a few months later. Vita looks worth it with a bit of a price drop.

Microsoft to follow Sony and stop guaranteeing launch consoles but it seems more units should be made available by both companies in run-up to xmas.
