    Mignolet
    Shawcross - Coleman - Mertesacker
    Hazard - Michu - Mirallas - Nolan
    Lukaku - Benteke - Anelka.

4 mil in the bank to upgrade after GW1.

Any chance you could let us in on these reasons and hunches? :pac: so that we can see if there's any reason we could make better recommendations

No problem. So Cech should be guaranteed to start both games and Boruc is a good backup at that price with that team.

Zabaleta: Not having City cover at the back cost me in the first few months last year. He's arguably the best right back in the league and with a Spanish manager will surely be a starter nearly every week.
Coleman: I'm assuming Martinez goes with his 3 cb, 2 wb defence. Coleman as a proper wingback should make him great value at 5.0
I normally try to choose cheap defenders hence the remaining ones. I like Shaw and he could be worth a few assists too. I think Taylor will get his spot back from Davies now that he's fully fit again and will be good value if he does. I also like Wilson but I more than likely will change him to Mickey Turner.

Hazard: Great player, the only attacking option I would say is certain to play both games in the DGW.
Navas: Have liked him for a while; quick and a great crosser. A combo that should get him a good number of assists especially when Dzeko and Negredo are his targets.
Ramirez: I fancy Southampton to have a good season. Ramirez has had a year to get used to the league and with Wanyama in there providing defensive cover I can see Ramirez having licence to roam. This is a hunch that could go wrong but hey, that's what transfers are for :P
And I would plan on using Brady/Thomas as a rotation option with my third striker dependent on the week's fixtures. Brady takes set-pieces which for a Steve Bruce side will be pretty important. Thomas I wouldn't have considered if it wasn't for Boards so I'm undecided on which to go with.

RVP: Self-explanatory. Expensive but basically guarantees points. Also easier to sell than to bring in during the season.
Lukaku: DGW. If he's doing well I might keep him. If not I'll get Soldado since I have no Spurs options as of yet and he should do well.

Hooper & Pilkington: I think Norwich will do well this year. I think they will lineup with Hooper and RVW, and it'll be Hoolahan who loses his place. But I don't think they'll do so well that I can have 2 attacking options from them.

Mentioned a week or 2 ago I was thinking of making a team without players competing in Europe i.e Champions League/Europa. Made my team and here's a draft. Purely as a side project to see out of curiosity how such a team would perform.

    16hq7es.jpg

If Suarez were to stay and Swansea some how got knocked out before they started you could actually make a very good team.

I would look at Morrisson (WBA) as an option, very productive in the hole last season

Cheers for that :) Yeah I can see from that now you've put a good bit of thought into things. The only issue I had/still have is you've picked a few players who have something hanging over them. Like Taylor may start but he may not and coupled with Swansea's fixtures seems like there could be a better choice early on. You could easily bring him in if and when he starts once Swansea calm down. I don't think Wilson will play although Iusedtolikebusts has heard that he may play in midfield. We both know my preference would be Mickey Turner.

In midfield I can see where you're coming from with Navas but we don't know how he'll settle and is a risk when you have the likes of Silva/Walcott. Like you say Ramirez could go either way but we all need something different in our teams indeed. I hope he'll do well as he's nicely priced.

I really like Pilkington but he's in competition with Nathan Redmond for the LW spot and Redmond has been playing very well in pre-season. Pilks has also withdrawn from the Ireland squad with an injury so may not even be in contention to play.

Yeah no worries with RVP and Lukaku and the Soldado plan. As for Hooper I have gone from being in the Wolf's camp to Hooper's camp to being on the fence. I think Hooper could outscore the Wolf if he was the main man but I don't know how they'll line up. They could both start at home but I can see them playing 1 up front a lot too. Proceed with caution although I'd dearly love to have Hooper myself in the right conditions.

Yeah I like him but I've dabbled with him a bit in the last 2 years and got burnt every time. I wouldn't say he'd outscore any of those 5 either.

I've enough to worry about with my proper team anyway

Question of interest who got the better striker between soldado and negredo, city or spurs

    .

wilson has been playing in midfield for stoke pre season but it doesnt look like he will be first choice. I think he has only started 1 of their 4 friendlies, I will be steering clear.

I'd bin Kone too,Dzeko with .5 saved from dumping Boruc for a 4.0 non playing keeper

Need a Goalie that rotates with Hart (GW2) and he does the job for now , I will review this though . I have brought Dzeko in .
Yeah that's fair enough I mean at the end of the day we can't all go for the same players, all a matter of preference. I really wouldn't go for Kone when you have Mirallas too but obviously that's your call.

And the same goes for Schneiderlin I don't think he should be touched. He was 4.5 last year having popped up with 5 goals I seriously doubt will be replicated this year and now @5.5 millions seems like too cash you could use on improving Kone. Also Pochetino doesn't seem to like Puncheon all that much saw a significant decrease in game-time and points after his arrival.

Minor quibbles in a strong looking team otherwise.

Taken on board so how does this lineup look ??

Wouldn't say there's much between the two .
Soldado is a much better Fpl option though .

Much better. Dzeko should have a good start but will probably need to be shifted after the first 3-4 games. Berb looks a good candidate for that job. Either should be better than Kone. Koren is a better back-up too, more offensively minded and was .5 cheaper.

I'd be quite happy with it myself I'd say

Soldado is guaranteed to play. Negredo isn't.

    It's that simple.

I raised it on another thread re Wilson. Apparently a huge amount of the criticism Pulis got last season from the fans was for persisting with him and Walters. That was according to a very informative Stoke blog I read last year.

That Hughes came in and straight away signed a left back set the alarm bells ringing re Wilson for me.

I am very happy with this team , allways had Koren in reserve i think he is the best out of the promoted teams ( IMO ) and he was just enough price wise to get Dzeko in and if the gossip is true he is Pelli's main man . I have allways thought Dzeko was missused .

I'm going to hang on to both Hazard and Mata for the double game week, but after that I'm going to bring in either Walcott or Navas. Not sure about Coutinho either. I could bring in both Walcott and Navas after GW2. I'll be keeping an eye on Nani also. Spurs not having a great pre-season and if Bale goes then they might have a poor season so maybe Soldado is dodgy??

Great hopefully spurs actually get a peno this year. Think I'll be going with soldado now . Rvp may have to wait till gw4.

    Bit of a reshuffle:
    Mignolet

    Ivanovic(V) Mertesacker Coleman

    Coutinho Walcott Mirallas Hazard(c)

    Giroud Dzeko Lukaku

    Marshall R.Morrison M.Turner Brayford
.5m left over, bit disgusted I've given in and put Turner on the bench, but will probably change it again by the weekend!

I'm tempted to throw Morrison into my team the closer we get to kick off. He's had a great pre-season and at 4.5 I'm thinking that he's worth a punt.
My team is similar to yours aside from the Arsenal lads. It's a good side though I'm becoming slightly cautious about Dzeko and Lukaku as both have such competition at their clubs, particularly Dzeko.

I have a gut feeling that Soldado will outscore RVP ,Spurs may lose Bale but they are building a top team . Im a Spurs fan and was FUBARed by the Bale fiasco ( is he isnt he crap) but looking at the signings thus far im positive they will be up there with the big boys come GW37-38 .

Yeah, was half tempted to lose one of the more expensive midfielders and start Morrison, and to try to fit RVP in to team but don't think its worth it!

Would take what Pellegrini said about Dzeko with a grain of salt, but i do think he'll start against Newcastle.

As for Lukaku, reckon he'll start in at least one of the Dgw matches! Torres will only be back from international duty and not sure if Mouriniho would have much faith in Ba. Chelsea might sign Rooney but if they do, can't see it happening until after the United Chelsea match!

Saying all that i could be completely wrong, Dzeko and Lukaku might be sat on the bench, and Demba Ba might score a hat trick in the opening game :pac:

Ok there is no way I am having RVP GW1 now if you decide this, your arguements for him were one thing nagging me in RVP-less team!

Now next question, if you go with Soldado, are you going to have Bale + Soldado?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,804 ✭✭✭A Brad Maddox Guy

Took your advice Mr.Prodston, Mickey Turner in for Wilson. James Chester for Neil Taylor for now. Don't know if he'll start either but he'll be my 3rd sub and is .5 cheaper so he's really only in til I see how things are panning out. Pilkington for Joe Cole is what I went for in the end. He ended last season well, has a full pre-season under his belt and West Ham have decent fixtures to start off with. After my planned transfers I'll still have a spare 1m to spend so will hopefully be able to strengthen any areas that I need to.

€50 from my Paddy Power account on a Demba Ba hat trick please!! The Soldado bandwagon is starting to look very tempting at the moment. Unlike Dzeko there's nobody pushing Soldado for a place so he's a guaranteed starter and will probably be the main man there if/when Bale leaves.

I think I'll stick with Lukaku though. If Chelsea don't get Rooney then I think Lukaku will be in for a good year.

If Rooney does leave then I'd imagine there'll be a massive increase in Kagawa ownership.

Some people were toying with the idea of Hart + 4.0 keeper and not rotating them.

Mignolet + Boruc is cheaper by 0.5.

ha ha its not definite yet. Things have changed the last couple of days with soldados move and aspas coming on my radar, up till then no other strikers were convincing me. Maybe Im wrong but Ive stopped considering bale I assume he will go to madrid and even if he stays he hasnt had much of a pre season. If things change and it looks like bale will start the season I'd only choose 1 of them not sure which 1.

Haha, hold onto that €50! i'll probably use my wildcard after gw3, just hoping Dzeko gets a couple of starts and then probably make sweeping changes!

Soldado, Sturridge and Bony are 3 options... They could be in my starting team yet! And definitely think Kagawa will be worth a punt if Rooney goes.

As a United fan, i'm sick of Rooney at this stage.

Haha yeah I know, the rest of your team is looking really well though.

I've spent the last 30-40 minutes going around in circles with my own team and I'm getting more confused with every switch around

If Chelsea didn't have the dgw I'd only go for Hazard and then I'm playing with Silva/Giroud or Dzeko/Walcott and then I think why not go for Aguero if I don't have RVP

Then I move onto Soldado and I have no doubt he'll be a great player for us all but will he be ready to go from GW1? I'll have to see how he does at the weekend in their friendly.

That still leaves a 3rd striker spot and while Lukaku is the obvious fit there's every chance he'll only face Hull before having to offload him the following week. I could go for either Sturridge or Aspas then. Despite Hooper and The Wolf shouting at me too.

I've also started tinkering in midfield and thinking a rotation between my 4th and 5th mids may work better than relying on Coutinho something like Redmond and Ramirez since he was mentioned earlier. Then I think Michu/Bony could do the business even with their opposition .

I've been going backwards rather than forward this evening thats for sure :pac:
