Yeah now that you have them side by side there they don't look that similar at all :). Still I would rather the dashboard in the coupe/saloon versions for some reason.

Ditto, the arseless compact E36 one is like something from an E30 which doesn't really suit it in my eyes

Yeah it doesn't look like it's had a hard life at all. As you say it's rare to see one with all 4 wheel trims, this one has them and looks very original :)

New test, one owner, low miles and work done apparently.

I know where you're coming from with that, lovely mileage and what not. But its still a very old rover under there and a crap one at that too. Its gotta cone for under a grand before you'd even consider it imo.

I sold one of those a few months ago. I only got one offer which I gladly accepted. They are a hape of a car and have absolutely nothing going for them.

When healthy they seem to get no more than 30 mpg which is terrible for a 1.4 in such a small car. Mine had a problem with the cat I think meaning I was only seeing 22-23 mpg.

I would urge anyone considering an mg zr to look elsewhere unless it is veerryyyy cheap!

no tax so you will have to pay about 700 quid straight away so you might be able to use that as a bit of leverage on the price

Looks like an honest car. Had indeed only 1 previous owner. Big miles for that 4 cylinder engine though, but hey this is bangernomics

If it goes right, it goes right. If it goes wrong, just start with another banger :)

Had one before,, sluggish enough, not great pulling power, also beware of head gasket / overheating issues especially with that mileage.

Cheap motoring and you will be beating off the ladies who will want a spin. Can't go wrong.

You can make the rear suspension on them drop too when you park by putting the handbrake on, driving forwards, holding the footbrake then turning the car off with the car in gear!
    Pretend hydropneumatics!

They'd want to be easily pleased for that to be the case :p

Anyway if it has a long nct it's very good value. If it hasn't got any nct it's not such good value as you could end up sinking more money into one of these than the asking price.

Re that V6 Alfa, that is a pretty rare care both here and in the UK and from what I can see that is the Ti version so it would have been a fairly expensive car at the time.
It's also slightly more powerful than the older V6 - 192bhp I believe.... I want it so bad :(

While the 156 is not as unreliable as some people would have you believe I know they can have major problem with the front suspension. Would the heavy v6 make this problem even worse?

There are kits for the suspension which strengthens the cars suspension in the front, something Alfa should have done at the beginning.
