Had 2 bottles from the BrewDog IPA Is Dead 2013 series over the last couple of nights. The Dana & The El Dorado. Pretty solid IPA's which I really enjoyed. Nothing particularly different or exciting with them though, but unless the hops used are really distinctive you're never gonna get something groundbreaking from this type of thing.

Had the other 2 during the week. Looks like I kept the worst til last. The Waimea was pretty inoffensive, but nothing to write home about, but I really didn't like the Goldings. It had that dead earthy bitterness you can get in a lot old style English Ales.

I availed of the Dunnes 5 for €10 offer on the O'Hara's range yesterday, mainly Leann Follain, but due to all the recent talk about Curim on here recently I picked up a bottle of that too. So much nicer than I remembered.

Was just brought over a selection of pale ales this week from the Kernel Brewery in London (Irish brewer, from Waterford I think). They're absolutely superb beers, in particular the 'Table Beer', which is only 2.9% but has more flavour than most IPA's I've tried.
One of the reasons for this may be that they're so fresh - the oldest is bottled less than two months ago and they all have a recommended "Best Before' of only four months after bottling and the label has a large 'DRINK FRESH' on it. There's definitely no danger of me ignoring that advice!

I'm at a new bar with all fresh lines that only have to travel from the kegs right behind it. It's the only close place that does Smithwick's on tap, so I've been on that kick lately.

Me too. I even had it close to source.

I suppose I'm drinking everything, but most recently it's been Flensburger Pils, which I think is a really good, crisp, bitter pilsner, and Dungarvan Helvick Gold.

Drinking a lot of Wych's Hobgoblin Recently.

Picked up some Fullers 'London Pride' ale today on the €2 Dunnes deal.

Anyone tried it? I was quite impressed by their 'India Pale Ale'.

I find it's nicer in bottles than from the cask. Think the lack of carbonation causes a dulling of the hoppieness (no idea if this is a sound theory, but it makes sense to me).

Thornbridge Raven BIPA in The Bierhaus, Cork.
Crazy price but a truly magnificent beer.
IPA festival on all this weekend there.

    How much?

Thronbridge beers tend to be pricey but I don't think the usual €7-7.50ish is "crazy" for one of their beers, especially compared to the silly prices of some of the Scandinavian brews or 330ml American/British/South Pacific offerings.

Useless to you, but Bier Haus Galway are charging €6.10 for Jaipur at the minute, which I think is a good price.

    €4.60 a half pint.
They have schooners too (2/3 pint) which I think are better value but I don't recall how much.

    That IS a crazy price.

3/4 pint for €5 in Salt House IIRC.

You should try it on cask, absolutely delicious.

Pride was one of the first "non mainstream" beers Tesco stocked, not had it in years.

You should try more of their range, some really good beers.

Seems I can't talk an pick beer at the same time. Thought I picked up Trouble Sabotage but it was Dark Arts.

Sitting here loving it but hating that I picked up the wrong bottle.

Also got a Hopplehammer to try. Seems the reviews above aren't anything special.

That´s really good stuff, alright. Tesco have it in their offer at the moment, as you no doubt saw. Bit steep at the normal price of €3 maybe but that doesn´t make it any less delish.

I have one of those sitting in the fridge!

So far tonight I've had a Pabst... for the craic.
Now I'm having a Sly Fox 113 IPA.
Went silly in Drinkstore today but, hey, it's the August Bank Holiday! :D

To answer my own question, I found it bland. Drinking a hoptimum now and it's delicious. Only bought one and am regretting it

London Pride is a very nice bitter. It was the first decent beer I tried, really.

Last summer I stocked up on the cans they had for 50c in Tesco. It was a great couple of months.

I like most of the Fullers range really. Bengal Lancer is a lot nicer than their regular IPA. Check that out if you ever see it. ESB is good too.

Audible ale by red hook. Bog standard APA to tell the truth.

Chimay red now, worst of the Friday night Belgians of the last month or so

What do you think of the fox? I thought it was way too strong on the alcohol (7%) but the next day i thought it was much better. Good 330ml can to bring into a gig/match etc

Really liked it. Didn't even notice the alcohol content.
    Quite malty though!

Picked up the Barrel Aged Lean Follain tonight. I'll keep that one aside. Also, Fransiscan Well coffee porter, a Gulden Drak, a Mountain Man green bullet and finally a Kona coffee porter, which I have open now. It's delicious. That's two out of two for Kona with me. I must try the rest of the 'Aloha series'.
