while on the subject of peripherals, has anyone any experience of Gaming Keypads like the Razer Nostromo? The reason I'm asking is that I'm absolutely useless with the WASD setup of a normal keyboard and no amount of time spent practicing helps and Ive being doing it for a while now. I can't type for sh*te either so that's probably another reason. :o
My movement in FPS's is a million times better with a controller!(I know I know..cough spit)
Obviously I've no issues using the mouse for aiming.

its okay but i dont think it adds anything if you find WASD useless. what KB do you own now?

this might sound extreme but have you considered the non WASD layouts.

Maybe a Logitech G13 Gameboard or Razer Orbweaver? I like the idea of an ergodex DX1, but no way I'm paying 149 USD for one.

The only answer to this problem is the Steelseries Merc Stealth. :)

I've no experience, or friends with experience for that matter. But I'd love to know if they are actually worth a damn.

I have a Qpad MK-85 which is well regarded KB. The real problem I have is getting keys mixed up when I have to move off WASD to any other key and back again. Told you I cant type for sh*te! :o
With the likes of the Razer Nostromo or Orbweaver, I was hoping to use the thumbpad joystick on them for movement and I'd probably be fine using the small keypad that way.

braille/textured key switches are the way to go if you have trouble relocating

Don't think that's going to help me to be honest but I'll have a look into it anyway. Thanks.

At the moment its a toss up between the Logitech G13 Gameboard or Razer Orbweaver. Pretty expensive gamble though if neither really works for me.

hows the prodigy build going? any pics uploaded yet

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,181 ✭✭✭Serephucus

I didn't upload pics, did I? Been finished for a while, just completely forgot to upload some stuff. The only thing I have yet to do is de-lid my 3570K, but I'm leaving that 'til my repeats are done just in case I'm without a machine. :P

I never knew people actually used mouse with left hand until someone mentioned it here last year. :o
I just remember going for the first time to internet cafe. The fella turned on quake 2 with bots for me and I worked from there lol. Mouse was on the right side, so I sticked to it lol.
I am really damn good at controlling my mouse with right hand as a lefty, but I still cant write with my right hand lol.

I used MS Intellimouse for years, and still have one floating about. Years of swapping between different PC's at work, and I'm fine with using mice without switching primary and sec. buttons.

What 780 did you get, vanilla of aftermarket?

Quick question about OCing a new gpu in crossfire. Should I use only the second card in the machine and oc as normal or can OC it while in crossfire? first card (7850) is OCd and stable. And do the clocks need to match?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,387 ✭✭✭glynf

With afterburner, it applies whatever clock & mem OC you select to both cards simultaneously.

Edit: your max clock will be limited to the highest OC your 'worst' card can manage if that makes sense.

i alternate between LH and RH so much that having one mouse for each is useful

    RH for FPS
LH for some RTS games depending on my hotkey layouts
switch between the two during for normal use

I write with my left and throw and punch with my right

I am a ****ing weirdo :pac:

@glynf its a msi vanilla 780 i got it for £500 so im not complaining

Well wear, you won't regret it. Got a pair of EVGA's a while back, best stock cooler (read: quietest) I've ever had.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,203 ✭✭✭Squaredude

Just reached the top of the evga 780 step-up queue.Waiting for my 670 to get to them and I should have my 780 by the end of next week.

I use the death adder and the nostromo because I can't do the keyboard thing either(why did i order a mec keyboard then?) :o
For FPS the nostromo is the job funnily i use the wasd on the it but your hand is just really comfy while using it..the shape is very ergonmic and I assign the buttons...Great piece of kit:)

had a few green torpedos(Hienkeens) so excuse the typo's :o

    I hear ya!
I had to RMA my mec KB and cost me a bit do so. They sent me a replacement one yesterday but I've no real use for it to be honest. If the nostromo/orbweaver does the job I'll sell the KB.

Starting to get annoying now trying to get the parts I need for my system :(.
You would think they dont want my money.

Finally stopped being lazy/continued being the ultimate procrastinator and did some OC optimization on my main rig last night when I was supposed to be hitting the books.

Ran the Prime test over night clocked to 4.5ghz ~ 1.264v on my 3570k and came back with a peak temp of 76 C. I'm fairly happy with that. :)
