What is that supposed to mean ?
What if they are incapable of playing as is the case with a few Donegal and Mayo players ?
I hear theres T-shirts on sale in Castlebar with Mayo All Ireland champions 2013 on them.
Hope that overconfidence doesnt come back to bite you

Yeah it's got to be Ger Caff on Murphy,Higgins on McFadden and Cunniffe on mcBrearty.
Watched last year's All Ireland final today as an appetiser for Sunday. We really were'nt that far off the mark.Thirsting for revenge, getting more confident about our prospects as the countdown begins. Can't wait to head to Croker!

I'd love to see the Higgins - McFadden battle. Were they on each other in last years final?

Only messin. You should beat us by a few this time and hope you go on to win all ireland-you deserve one.

Have to say the 2 league meetings with Dublin would worry me though- still not sure about your defence.

    I refuse to believe that!

Here's a new Mayo supporter's song to warm you up for the weekend. Two Mayo bands (Flat Out and Gorilla Radio) give their all in support of the 2013 campaign for Sam.

    That's very good.

Really makes some of the other efforts churned out over the years look very poor!

Donegal, stop trying so hard. There's only one yellow-jerseyed and lion-hearted team that Mayo can hate.

I knew the 'Mayo song' sounded familiar: http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=VL17Pdghdvo

Haha, kinda reminds me of Father Ted when they copy a Eurovision song and hope nobody recognises it :pac:

No Keith Higgins was marking McBrearty, Keane picked up Murphy and Ger Caff...McFadden.Obviously Ger Caff was switched onto Murphy after the disastrous start.Ger Cafferkey was originally earmarked to pick up Murphy but it was believed that he had struggled on the big man in the league game earlier in the year.

Aah interesting. Wouldnt mind watching that final again before Sunday actually. I guess it makes sense that Higgins takes up McBrearty as he floats about a bit which suits Higgins. Would really love to see Higgins on McFadden though.

Just had a look over on tickets.ie. Looks like there could be a big crowd at this one. Lower cusack & Lower Hogan sold out. And if you try to buy an upper ticket, only corner tickets available.

I'd prefer a full strength Mayo team if we had to play a Full Donegal team. As it stands, we are far from full strength.
I see no reason right now for people to be getting upset because the playing field is a little more level in terms of injuries, so to see that a few of Donegal's key players may not be fully fit is fine by me.

In case we need reminding, the following are the list of current players not available through injury
    Clarke
    O'Malley
    Michael Conroy

The following are arguably not at their peak through injury, or in a position to start or play a full game:
    Andy Moran
    Alan Dillon
    Cillian O'Connor
    Donal Vaughan
    Barry Moran
    Cathal Freeman
    Jason Doherty
    Chris Barret

    Probably more.

So yeah, I wouldn't be feeling a whole lot of sympathy for Donegal and their injury list, we have enough problems of our own going into this game.

    You are dead right
the fact that Mayo have eased through to this stage has glossed over the fact that they have so many starters and potential starters with injuries.

It also show how deep the Mayo panel are
For Barry Moran you can fit in Sheamus O' Shea
For Barrett you can play Boyle.

Mayo are often criticised for not having a 'marquee forward' the likes of Gooch, Murphy or Brogan.
Instead they have a lot of 'lesser quality forwards'*, which is not a bad thing at the end of the day because for every Doherty that is out injured you can fit in Alan Freeman or Varley, all of whom are in and around the same quality

However some of their really key men have survived this far, Higgins (I know he did get a knock v Roscommon) Aidan O' Shea and McLoughlin in particular, if you were to loose one of them with you be a real problem I think.
The same can be said of Cillian O'Conor I reckon , people say he does not contribute too much from open play, but what he brings from placed balls is invaluable.

    * - I do not mean to insult those guys by saying they are 'lesser quality forwards' by the way

Fair play to James Horan, think he's spot on re Donegal's physicality. They're targeted no more than any other team either.

Well someone had to put Jimmy in his place about his physicality whinge over the weekend and seeing as Horan and Mayo were up next it for them they were the ones to do it.

Also Caff is and was considered our best FB against a big man. Murphy was having an "off" year up until the final last year, whereas McFadden was on fire. I assume this fed into the decision to put Caff on McFadden

Yeah they seem to be the two common reasons given. Personally I'd have Caff - Murphy, Higgins - McBrearty and Cunniffe - McFadden. I really like Cunniffe as a man marker and he'll be out to prove himself against one of the best.

In one there, he has the physicality and height to match McFadden, though Monaghan just pushed him onto his wrong foot everytime he got the ball and frustrated him.

Looks like Mchugh is going to play, will be a game changer, Murphy will need watching as he's due a good game, beware of the Donegal backlash, they all have all Ireland medals now and know what it takes to win, best of luck to mayo!

if he does play it makes mcguinness look like an ass with all the mouthing he has done saying that he is afraid that one of his players will get seriously hurt.
if he has a burst ear drum theres no way he should be playing and i though it took 10 -14 days to be clear of concussion.

Well the 'concussion' was on the 21st so that would be 14 days

If McHugh and Lacey are playing then they will still not be 100%.

I doubt he'll play. McGuinness is just trying to make Horan doubt his gameplan.

It's not a Donegal backlash that should be feared. There is no greater motivator for Mayo than a team who denied them a first All-Ireland in 61 years.

    Believe me, Mayo fear nothing.

If he ends up playing then 1 or a combination of all the below things is true,

    1. The injury was over egged (although the 2 nights in hospital makes me doubt this)
    2. The GAA needs to implement a urgent and radical PED screening policy
    3. JMcG is just stirring things up.

If all the players who missed out on winter training due to injury are 100% then the whole point of winter strength and conditioning has been debunked.

Wouldn't worry about McHugh, he will be well off the pace and won't be 100%. Murphy hasn't a good game since the AI final.
McG is just up to his usual tricks.

    Oh, right.

Because a big-time player central to his team's chances is willing to risk himself in a do-or-die match in Croker Park - how many chances do players get to play on this big stage in August? - there's questions about him doping.

Ffs man, listen to yourself. No PED in exsistence would speed the recovery from a concussion or a tear in your quad.
