    Any opinions on my team?

The only serious concern I have is with my forward line. I'm not sure about all three of them.

With both Chelsea and Villa having DGW in W1 is it worth picking players fron Villa and if so who ??

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,267 ✭✭✭✭manual_man

@Jimmy WAY too much tied up in your back line. Every year without fail its mids and forwards who outscore defenders. By quite a bit

Are you concerned that Ivanovic may be rotated for the Villa game? Azpilicueta will miss the first game apparently, but may be rotated in for the second.

I would probably use Hazard as captain due to Chelsea having a DGW.

EDIT: Posted this on the wrong thread in error, but it may be semi-relevant here so have left it up.

One option if wildcarding after week 3 could be:

    Week 1:
    Cech (Boruc)
Toure, Coleman, M. Turner, (Collins) (Clyne or similar)
    Bale, Walcott, Hazard, Snodgrass (Thomas)
    Negredo, Lukaku, Rodriguez

In Week 2, transfer in Miralles for Hazard. Play Boruc ahead of Cech.

In Week 3 transfer in a one week forward 'punt' for Lukaku - everyone can be afforded except RVP, Aguero and Rooney. Play Collins instead of Toure.

The captains would be Hazard (Wk1), Bale (Wk2) and Negredo (Wk3).

Clyne could also be downgraded to a 4.0 player to free up 0.5 to allow for price increases.

It's only a first draft so feel free to tear it apart!!

as it stands only hazard and ivanovic from chelsea have more ownership than lukaku and ivanovic only has more by 0.1%.

i imagine a lot of people haven't adjusted their teams yet to factor in the dgwbut still seems quite a lot of people have faith in lukaku. will certainly monitor chelsea a bit more in pre season but i'd be amazed if the transfer window closes and they haven't signed a big name striker.

    De Gea

    coleman mertesacker Johnson

    Paulinho Arteta Gerrard Fellani

    Defoe Lukaku Berbatov

    subs: Boruc, zabaletta, carrick, mcauley

I wud love sum advice on my team, trying to beat my brother an sister in law this year:)

I know but it's intentional. I can't see many other defenders that I'd like.

I plan on using my WC soon so I can sort things out again.

I'm a little concerned but are there really any defenders that are guaranteed in the Chelsea team? I don't think Cole is even certain of a place these days.

The close proximity of the games is a headwrecker.

Good point. I never made any changes after the DGW was announced.

Think its 4 goals in 3 games in pre-season so far for Lukaku, keep an eye on him in the tournament they are playing in the US, he could be their new Drogba, Mourinho will favour that sort of player.

Where to start?! I don't mean to offend but I think you will get a lot of advice if you catch my drift.

Personally I wouldn't go for De Gea but if you have him you will play him every week so there is no need for Boruc (10.5m is too much to have tied up in keepers, but if you are go for Hart as he has an easier start than De Gea)

You have too much tied up in defence. Coleman & Mertesacker are good picks. So are Zabaleta and Johnson but having all 4 is a waste. You have made my point by benching Zab at home to Newcastle. Pick 2 of the 4 (probably the first 2 and bring in a couple of 4.5m defenders from Norwich/Southampton/West Ham/Cardiff/Hull. Ditch McAuley, too expensive for a mid table defender.

Arteta, although on penalties, and Carrick won't give you much FF-wise, certainly not as much as Walcott/Santi etc. Fellaini is also likely to be playing deeper this season. Look at Miralles if you want an Everton mid.

Defoe may not play, especially if Spurs sign Soldado. Lukaku is ok for the Double but Chelsea have poor fixtures. Use the money saved in defence to upgrade midfield and forward line.

    Two final points:
    - don't forget Chelsea and Aston Villa play twice in GW1. You currently only have one player who will play twice.
    - Going without Bale AND RVP is either brave or madness. My money is on the latter!

Sorry to be so harsh, but you do want to beat your brother!

You could probably save some money in your defence, swap Johnson for Toure and De Gea for Mignolet. Your midfield would really worry me! Arteta isn't going to do much for you in terms of assists or goals. I think Paulinho is more of a defensive midfielder than goalscorer and Fellani, just not sure how Everton will go with Martinez this season, he tends to pick up too many yellow cards too! Carrick as a sub or on your team is an awful choice, get rid, fast! I wouldn't bother with Defoe either, too inconsistent!

It's hard to know. They've so many options, it's very difficult to guarantee that anyone will start both, except Cech. Terry probably won't play both, Apil will probably be rotated in after missing the first game. Including Cech ruins my goalkeeping strategy though. Ivanovic is a goal threat as well as serious cleansheet potential.

Finding it hard to make a call there, and up front. It's probably the team that I'd least like to have a DGW in GW1. I hate going for players who aren't nailed on.

Anyone predict Chelsea's first choice 11?

Schurrle is the cheapest attacking option on Chelsea's midfield and is usually played as a wide forward. Would lukaku be first choice striker for Chelsea with schurrle, Mata and hazard behind?

I can't see them having a consistent attack and midfield for the first 3 games at least. Hazard is the safest bet I would say. I'd be surprised if Schurrle is thrown straight into the team on a consistent basis, with the likes of Oscar and Moses there too.

I'd lose Anelka anyway. A lot of people have him but I honestly can't see him starting everyweek. With the extra 2.5 I'm sure you could find a better striker than him anyway; maybe Van Wolfswinkel, or Hooper when he comes in?

I could put Berba in he would be a reg starter

Get Westwood the hell out of there. Villa defensive midfield playing Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool in 1st 3 games. If he gets you more than 3 points in 3 games you will be doing well.

Westwood has 7 assists and 2455 play time and im only having him in for the DGW then he is gone . If anyone can come up with a better Villa choice ??

Yeah but if we don't expect Villa to score then having 7 assists is futile. Benteke is the only (somewhat) viable option against Arsenal and Chelsea away from home.

Maybe he will score but it wouldn't be a logical choice. By all means if your gut tells you to go for it then work away but Villa aren't clear cut at the best of times.

If arsenal don't sign a striker I think giourd would be a very good choice

Benteke as mentioned. If you want to go budget, go with Weimann, if (big 'if', I know!) Villa score there's a good chance he would be involved

What do ye think lads? :)

    Vorm

    ----Cole----Coleman----Koscielny

    Bale--Hazard(C)--Snodgrass--Walcott

    ---Bony---Sturridge---Kone

Not having a go at your team specifically, but it is impossible to make a proper judgement unless all 15 players are given.

The 11 look solid enough but I wouldn't have Vorm (fixtures) and Sturridge may not be ready for the start of the season. No City players might be a mistake given their fixtures.

Koscielny to Collins, then use that 1m for Kone to Lukaku, Chelsea play twice gameweek 1.

Use your first free transfer to change Cole to Koscielny.

I wouldn't be mad about Kone, I'd probably put in Long instead of him. You'd have £0.5m left over from that, which you could use to replace Vorm with Mignolet. Other than that I like your team.

Just for some "Banter" and "The Lolz" I made a team which didn't feature any clubs involved in Europe. Assuming Liverpool aren't?

great thing about that team is their would be no rotation worries. A lot of the big hitters dont always get 90 mins in and around european games and internationals. It would be an interesting expirement to see how that team would do quite well I'd imagine. The double points for captain would be the major downfall to a team like that.

Yeah the captaincy could be a downfall of it but if Suarez stayed at Pool then he'd be an obvious choice in a month or two :pac:

I'd be tempted to run it as a side-project. Wouldn't really need too much attention either. It's about the only team that would make sense having Baines in too
