Now, I wonder if you can get a nice Carbon Fibre wedding band...

if you can't find carbon, mine is tungsten carbide...haven't been able to mark it in 6 years. usually generates a bit of interest when people realise it's not a standard ring.

won't be as light as CF though...:)

good reason. the other being that as soon as you put the second ring on that finger all purchasing will stop immediately so get it in while you can

So true , you will have to buy everything with cash. Luckily my LBS does wife receipts ;)

I should really have left the CC at home, then I wouldn't have brought a groupset with a Standard Crank instead of a Compact... return, try to sell of HTFU for a year... decisions, decisions....

Firstly - Congrats man. Best of luck.

On the groupset - if you can't return it just get a wifli RD.

I came back to my bike and found someone had broken the pedal on the right, looked like it was kicked/jumped on. Popped into Rothar to get something cheap and cheerful (and not matching the other pedal) to get me home on, where I duly took out my credit card and bought the following shiny things. Which I definitely should not have.

Splurged on a Dolan Pre Cursa frame set, and a few other bits like a chain and tools for the build.

Now to find some way of paying it all off the card....

    just ordered this:
    cross-check_fm_930x390.jpg

    to build something like this:
    485575_10200867569923592_725433304_n.jpg

because geared cx is simply not hard enough.

Chain tensioner, and s/s conversion kit for doing up the old steel mtb from my dads garage as a beater.

Screw in bar plugs because I'm tired of getting back from spins with one.

    Ordered from wiggle today.

Latex tubes, and butyl ones with 60mm valves (as well as a valve extender) because I'm an idiot who forgot I had ordered 38mm wheels when ordering the 40mm valve tubes!

Also a compact Force crankset... This cycling lark is expensive innit!

Not quite a today purchase, but a today arrival. An Islabike Luath 24. We're very impressed with it so far! Much better than the equivalently priced Viking racers found in a lot of shops here.

My eldest daughter got the exact same model for her birthday last year. She is 8 and that gearing ratio has seen her spin up some reasonably steep climbs (albeit short).

Cheers, Colm. It's interesting actually. I'm not sure whether it's just marketing bumf from Islabikes or they have carefully considered these things, but they deliberately supply the 24 and 26 inch wheel Luath bikes with a rear derailleur only. The reasoning for this is that they believe that kids don't properly understand gearing and are better off with a single wide ratio cassette. It's not until you get to their 700c bikes that they provide a FD. Watching him flying around on his last bike, and this, I'm inclined to agree!

Going on holidays next week, so drained the plastic card on various cycling accessories and then on top of that I just decided to... treat myself with a holiday bike, so bought one over there :)

I'll buy the cassette off you when he/she is done with it.

might make me go a bit quicker. :P

    Just ordered this this morning,

    http://www.westbrookcycles.co.uk/frames-c6/road-frames-c112/scott-cr1-pro-hmf-road-frame-set-2012-p194664

Now beings the slow process of ordering all the pieces to finish it off one by one and convince herself that it came like that......

I just bought the poor man's version of a power meter.

    https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.innovativeappdesigns.cyclepowermeter&hl=en

it is a lot of fun, plenty of colourdy maps, max braking effort, cadence sensing, realistic calories and of course MAX POWER!

I've had it out for one short spin, and most of the figures look reasonable. I'll throw up some data from my commute tomorrow.
