That's great scoring Thomas. Obviously in great form so hope it continues.

7 iron through the green on 18 is very impressive.

    Congrats on the cuts.

thanks Tommy, form is a bit like Gmac's!! all or nothing at the moment!! :o

Level Par Gross in Lucan last night for 36 points. Driving the ball really well but very rusty with the rest of the game. Ball is going absolutely miles in this weather

    Seven over Gross (79)...last sunday

Had 5 birdie putts on front nine and made none..had 2 on back nine

    Very happy

41 points in athlone today in the open day : 1 over par with 4 birdies and 100% fairways hit! /flex.

Will just miss out on a prize but hopefully be cut back to 5 after that :)

Came third on the back 9 ;)

To be honest, I don't know whether to laugh or cry about this round... at the end of the day, it's 37 pts, one-under nett and another .3 gone to take me just one cut away from a drop to 15... but there's no getting away from it - this literally should've been the round of my life... for context - I've shot 10-over-par six times - my six best rounds ever... this should've been a shot or two better than that at least... count em, Lads - SEVEN three-putts... I had to add em up three times before I believed it myself... pathetic putting... Parred first five, GIR on 6 - three putts... after that it was ordinary with two braindead triples...

Ah well, tomorrow is another day...

    38 :)

It was over our society course ... so yeah, that takes the sheen off it a little.

There was a 42 in and about four or five 41's :)

on a related note, I cant believe the css in tullamore on monday was 35. Makes me even sicker that I 4-putted the last for 35 points. Got down in 2, I'd be .2 lower now than I am

that's something that annoyed me about Athlone, a CSS even off the yellows is 38. Mental.

I agree actually - I think 38 is too high off the yellows : but its what it is set at and thems is the terms and conditions!

36/37 for yellows with around 34/35 for whites would be much nicer :D

Played mount juliet today 106 blows 25pts great day just couldn't hole a putt to many dbs with 1par all day. Got out for 40e & would def pay 80 to play it again fantastic course serious test. Jack is quite the golf designer every hole is protected by bunker after bunker & if its not sand he puts in water to really test your approach play. It must be the busiest course in the country it was packed from when we arrived at 11am till when we left after 6pm. It was a 5hr rd due to 8 americans acting the goat all 8 where on a par 3 green on the bck9 at one stage the 4ball behind apologised to us for the hold up but we happy enough to seat under a tree for some shade for a few mins it waz hotttt

A quick 9 holes in Grange Castle last night.

18 points off 18, happy with that, as I am working on a few changes with my driving and can see a little improvement.

Still 2 scratches though, I'm averaging way too many these days and won't kick on until I cut them out (Averaging 5 a round :o:o:o).

    45 Strokes
    1 Birdie
    3 Pars
    2 Bogeys
    1 D Bogey
    2 Blanks

17 points from 6 holes, 1 point from the other 3.... Need to turn that 1 point into 3 to start moving.

24 points in Castletroy on Wednesday. started poorly with 2 scratches on first 2 holes, turned with 14 after scratching 9 as well. Walked down 10 as a spectator, played rubbish all the way home as couldn't manage the heat nor my game. I blame the heat mostly though:P
6 scratches is my worst in a long time.

Cheers Tom. I'm sure you'll have the clubs hidden in the boot!

Is it strokes from back tees on Sunday do you know? Enjoy the wedding.

Forgot to implement a few of the changes I'm trying to do with driver... That's a round about way of saying MASSIVE SLICE :)

I'm playing good stuff when I get it out there, but I'm averaging close to ten penalties a round!!!!!... 3 off the tee is happening way too often. If it's not 3 off the tee, then it's a chop (or chops) out of the rough or the odd unplayable lie.

After afew 33/34/33/34/32 rounds, I finally got it together for 41pts in the open singles in Westport on Wednesday. I finished second, 3 behind the winner but delighted to have finally got my first cut this year of 1.2 down to 14.8 now. I had accumulated 5*0.1s so far and few buffer rounds so good to be heading in the right direction. Funny round-my putter was on fire but my driving was generally poor- changed to my 3wood eventually and had much better results. I might leave driver in the bag from now on! Course was in fantastic condition, great run on the ball there and greens superb. Lovely views also!

35 points on my home course today, castleisland.
Played ok but 36 putts. Had 37 putts last sat and 38 points.
The greens aren't consistent or fast enough. I may have hit 2/3 bad putts myself today but I actually feel that I'm putting decent enough. I feel there is a big score coming just need more putts to drop.

Played my first round of golf in a while on Thursday. I genuinely can't remember when my last round was. It was some time last summer. I've been away for the last year and didn't bring my clubs with me.

I played out in the Pococke in Kilkenny. It's a par 3/4 course with par being 61. Some holes are annoyingly short but two are over 300 yards and seven more are over 200 yards. It was a decent test of my game.

Thank god I didn't go out onto a proper course. My putting was absolutely horrific. I three putted a lot. Most were from within five feet as well which is embarrassing. I think my putting suffered the most during my lay off.

Apart from that, I was genuinely surprised at how well I played. I was hitting my approach shots to within a couple of feet and my iron play was generally quite accurate. I think I tired towards the end of it and my shots became very erratic. I'll blame that one on the sun though :pac:.

My best shot of the day was a 200 yard four-iron to one foot on the seventh. I can remember playing that hole 10 years ago. I was hitting driver and, no matter how many balls I hit, I could only ever get it to the bank 15 yards short of the green. It's the first time I've ever birdied it and I've played that hole close to 100 times.

I finished on 79, 18 over. I'm absolutely delighted with that score. I know it's not a great course at all, but I'd have run out of golf balls by the fourth hole in Kilkenny or Castlecomer.

I'll probably just stick with the Pococke for the four/five weeks that I'm around. I reckon with a bit of practice in the driving range I could get into the 60's and threaten par. All I need to do is sort out my putting and be a little bit more consistent with my irons.

    Watch this space!
