The op is either trolling or just not reading anybodies posts. Why bother helping someone who won't even make the effort to read the first page of the stickies.

sounds mad to me. i know the go ahead bars, just dont understand why the choice was one of those or a choc bar. the go ahead bars are like cardboard. yuck. and empty calories - id be hungry 10 minutes after eating them.

fruit or veg however, have complex carbs which release energy slowly and fill you up longer. i think you need to do a lot of research on nutrition.

You're probably right but i didnt think i was that bad compared to others and how it made me feel!

The bars taste lovely dipped in my tea! Little bits of fruit in some of them too!

We know. It's the pattern of the nutrition forum.
1st post appears, we answer it with the same info.
they argue, we give the same info tell them to read the stickies.
They try the old "but im different" "i dont like such and such" " I have a high metabolism" "Im secretly turning into a butterfly" arguments.

We give the exact same info.
    it goes back and forth.

Then another regular will come along, maybe someone will post a new recipe or tip and we will all learn something.

    At this stage is routine.
and it gives me something to do while im in the office staring at the sunshine.

Whats with the full fat mayo? Why was i told it was so bad for u? Is it a substitute for the protein in egg or something?

40 years ago, healthy things were things that gave you energy and were nutritious. Ever since the obesity epidemic, things that are calorific, as in give you energy have been labelled bad by advertising companies, and things with lite, diet, etc in the title have been labeled good. Its false. As has been said repeatedly, you dont get fat from eating fat. You need fat in a healthy diet. A bit of mayo added to a salad, makes it delicious in my opinion. Lettuce and cucumber can be a bit boring but a dollop of mayo and its the butterflys knees.

    Hi Sensor,

I think you are in the same boat I was recently.
I complained about tiredness and had difficulty concentrating, but it had little or nothing to do with the amount of sleep I was getting.
I seemed to be eating as much or more as everyone around me, but half an hour or an hour before my next meal I'd be feeling lethargic and hungry and have real difficulty focusing on my work.
Reading this forum and others highlighted how there were too many high sugar foods (plenty of low fat, so called heathy options) in my diet, just like the one you posted.

The simplest and most effective change I made was eating porridge most mornings for breakfast. It only takes a couple of minutes to make in the microwave. Others here recommend eggs, so I'd try starting the day with either and seeing if that makes a difference.
The principle being that you're looking for foods that provide slow release energy and avoiding sugar rushes and crashes.
If you want to feel tired and hungry, just have something high in sugar and wait an hour or two and see how you feel.

Plenty of other good advice on this thread, just because a food has healthy option written on the label, doesn't mean it will be any good for you.

    Good luck,
    Upstream

on sunday I roasted 4 chickens (tesco €8 for 2)
Take the whole chicken, cover in butter, (get it under the skin)
sprinkle with rosemary, salt and pepper.
oven @180 cook for 1-1.5 hours.
take out of oven, wrap in foil to cool down.

when its cold rip the meat off with your bear hands. pull it from the bones

(dont discard the bones or the juices that come from the chicken)

Put the meat in a lunch box with mustard and rocket, 2 hand fulls of your favorite veggies (chopped carrots work, beetroot, onions, anything you like)
and a chunk of grated cheddar.

Put the bones and any juices that game from the chicken in a large heavy pot, or slow cooker. Cover with 3 litres of water and put on a low heat. Let it cook like this for a few hours. Then drain off the liquid and bin the bones.
This liquid stock can make a soup in about 5 minutes or freeze it and use it later.

Thats lunches for me and the missus for a whole week, and snacks when im peckish. and a lovely soup or curry for 2 evenings.
With the veggies it all cost less than €20 and took less than 20 minutes to make.
While it was cooking in the oven I boiled 18 eggs so I always have breakfast and made some peanut butter cookies for treats.

Sunday chicken . . . all week? Fridays must be great in your house!

Is there that much of a difference between that and my sandwich shop chicken? Because u really didnt have much different to what i had today

This is the crux of your problem. You eat the treats. You like the over sugary over salted over processed stuff. Its what your palate is used to.

Two weeks of not eating that stuff your taste buds will appreciate more natural foods, trust me.

Baby tomatoes, celery, carrot, sweetcorn, sprinkled with mixed seeds (you can buy in the supermarket) and just the tiniest bit of salt is delicious, and will stop you snacking on junk.

If you are craving food, eat protein, as suggested repeatedly here. Tuna from a can, chicken breast, eggs. Use mayo, or pesto to flavour if you want.

Lads remember 90% of people dont eat clean and most people dont feel like the OP. Healthy eating and excerise is great but its not the solution to all lifes problems.

The OP sound like they have a stressful life, they are tired, lethargic, unmotivated, headaches etc...there are much more obvious medical reasons than uncommon dietary deficiency.

Go to a doctor, dont expect any advice on the health and fitness forum except to eat clean and exercise, and anecdoytal stories of how people stopped farting and felt great after taking doses of deer antler and powered sulphur.

I had a massive bowl of roast chicken, vegetables and mustard.

You had 2 scoops of processed chicken, and processed bread.

Mine tasted great, I feel great and not a little bit hungry looking forward to getting to the gym in 2 hours. how do you feel?

I eat a different meal every day, all home cooked some times gourmet restaurant quality if I do say so myself. Cos I spent 5 hours of my life learning how to cook instead of whining on the internet.

Everything I eat (90% anyway) is fresh home cooked. I have plenty of time for other activities.

From that stock I will be making a blue cheese soup tomorrow and a very spicy chicken curry friday which would kill a lesser man.
Youll have spar chicken roll no doubt. yum.

Saturday ill be eating my specialty Rattlesnake Chilli, sunday will be eggs benedict, and probably stir fry steak with asparagus tips.

Ill decide what ill eat next week on sunday and prepare most of it then.
    Enjoy your spar rolls.

My first time here. OP, I have read most but not all of what has gone before and I am surprised that the posters are still answering your posts. I'd have lost patience yonks ago. I can see that because you are a busy parent you use a lot of convenience food, for convenience, and that's all they give you. This is my story - after feeling totally knackered many years ago, I went to the GP, he put me on iron, for years and years until still knackered I argued with him about all the bloody iron and no good result. After months of all sorts of tests it turned out I was gluten intolerant. A few months keeping to a gluten free diet I had my energy back. You should go to your GP and ask to be tested for gluten intolerance. If your GP says a blood test will tell you, say no thank you, I want a camera down my throat please because that's the best way to confirm it. I've had several done and proved now that I am pretty much gluten free all the time now.

Whether you are gluten intolerant or not, I can see by what you eat that you do not understand the term 'fresh food'. I was gobsmacked when you mentioned 'Mash Direct'. My mother, a widow with young children, no microwave, no fridge, no freezer, worked 12 hour days keeping house, looking after us kids, working from home, seven days a week, up to all hours during busy seasons, and still managed to cook and mash her own vegetables. Listen to the posters, take the advice, see a GP, and then get better. Good luck!

Did you complain about it in on this forum? Did u not read the stickies? Did u get a high and mighty reaction for not reading the stickies before u posted??

I think talking to people and asking questions is actually okay.

I will try taking the sugar out and the low fat stuff out and see how i go.

Over/underactive throid, Liver Disease, Celiac, Diabetes type 2, depression along with a hundred other reasons all cause tiredness!

OP's diet is okay. Go to a doctor and he will take blood to see why you are constantly feeling tired.

    Good diet doesn't fix everything.

Absolutely. Not all of life's ills are caused by eating food that comes in a packet. The answer here is to see a doc, get a blood test etc. If you're a medically healthy person who feels like this then absolutely point the finger at the lifestyle.

Just laughing at the people suggesting switching to a healthy lifestyle and feeding it to the kids as if it's that easy. Hate to break it to you but kids know what tastes like crap and vegetables generally taste like crap. We use stews and casseroles as vegetable cloaking systems for our kiddies meals but unfortunately you can't shield your kids from the wonders of chips and they know bloody well a fucking parsnip fry is not a chip so please don't anyone chime in with that particular chestnut.

Also if you're feeding the kids toast or whatever lese the little bastards will actually eat it's bloody hard to not mop up the leftovers.

If you've young kids you're pretty much guaranteed to feel tired a lot of the time but see a doc. Don't bother with the dietician, is that serious advice? "Eat more veg", gee thanks professor.

Its a forum for people to chat. I know im not the most knowledgable person on diet, so invoking a discussion is the best way to learn. If you dont want to waste ur time, then dont.

The best way to learn would actually be to read the information available, which would involve lots of academic books at great expense. lots of hours reading and searching for valid source material. Luckily it's condensed for people like you and me in the stickies. hence why they are recommended.
